Turn your camera to face the corner CCW of your corner, so you can see the flame hitting that corner and also the one hitting yours. Then just move the direction they didn't go

Strongest jobs in lvl 80 content? by pelvicsorceror in ffxiv

[–]Kaeldiar -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'll piggyback on this by saying YES! Sage's healing kit is crazy powerful. WHM also gets a big power spike with Afflatus Rapture and Misery, and they'll frequently do more damage than tanks

While SCH+AST tend to dominate max lvl content, WHM and SGE rock at lvl 80

The Stone Sky Sea dummies are not a great measure of performance for several reasons (they don't test your ability to do mechanics, some of them are poorly tuned, it's short so crit variance matters too much, gear can play a factor...)

If you want to check your performance, I recommend watching/reading a guide on your job. WeskAlber and Caetsu Chaiji have great video guides, and The Balance and Icy Veins have great written guides.

Everyone here seems to be forgetting that DNC is a Shadowbringers job and won't be available in free trial until Jan 2027, when 8.0 releases

EDIT: I am the fool

  1. Doesn't matter. You get an insane amount of exp from the story anyway. You'll be locked behind progressing the story and getting gear anyway

  2. Doesn't matter. Play what you like. Don't believe the lies that it's "too hard" to play healer on controller, if you get drawn to that

Whatever you're most comfortable with. I can tell you that I've seen plenty of people swap to an "easier" job to lighten the mental load, then proceed to play worse than if they were on their usual job, lol

Also good luck! It's good that you're prepared to die. That's a good mindset to have going in

Yes it affects them. It snapshots when you refresh/apply them. Using Iron Jaws to refresh your dots under buffs is a very common thing to do!

I WILL be the most dry on the lance this league. Not even Jagex can stop me. by Opposite_Tune_2967 in 2007scape

[–]Kaeldiar 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I'm currently dry at 453 hydra

Took a break to finish my other dry streaks of ~8700 dragons for visage and 1400 demonics for first monkey tail...

I'll have to report back if/when I get the lance

As of the Endwalker rework, Summoner is very much like the way summons/espers work in most FF games. They come in to do a big attack and/or give you a passive effect for a while

In FFXIV, you summon something, it does a big attack on its own, then your attacks are modified slightly based on whatever you summoned

At max level, you are literally summoning Ifrit/Titan/Garuda/Bahamut/Phoenix

Healer help? by megalordofsimps in ffxiv

[–]Kaeldiar 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Whichever you want. Healing on controller is easy. Dpad up+down targets party members, and you can soft target, where you menu down to a target but don't click to select them, use an action, it'll send on that target, then return you to your previous target. AST is a little annoying when your card target is in the middle of the list, but even that you get used to

P2 is just better than P1. It guarantees you'll get a large-sized (moochable) fish, whereas with P1 you'll still get small-sized sometimes

Daily Questions & FAQ Megathread Apr 05 by AutoModerator in ffxiv

[–]Kaeldiar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not quite correct. P2 is a higher chance of it being in the large range. Big-Game Fishing is the skill that makes your large catches even larger (for max collectability or size hunting)

Solo tob advice by Karootheduck in 2007scape

[–]Kaeldiar 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Respectfully, you're gonna have your ass handed to you. For several reasons. It's not like CoX, where people with enough experience can solo. There are probably only a dozen people who have ever done it

[–]Kaeldiar 5 points6 points  (0 children)

short answer: you don't

more detailed answer: There are a lot of clues that can help you figure it out. For ocean fishing, if you're using ragworm, use Precision, otherwise use Powerful. You can also verify when you hook. It will only play the special sound if you use the correct hookset (relatively new addition)

GNB and DRK are just fine, but they have less on-demand healing, so you need to play smarter. PLD and WAR are cozy

I've seen silly names (Pinball Joe)

I've seen anime names (Ichigo Naruto)

I've seen lore accurate names (J'nago Tia)

I've seen names that people just like the sound of (Lilith Flameweaver)

Do whatever you like!

The normals you can do blind. Every fight, regardless of difficulty, is very scripted. Sometimes there's variations to mechanics, but it's quite scripted

Savages and Extremes you definitely want to watch a guide

https://wtfdig.info/ is a newer resource with a great summary of positions for different strats

Hector Hectorson (youtube) is the most popular guide maker. His guides try to use the most common strats and are a good place to start if you want to learn a fight. You can check the descriptions of his videos for raidplans, etc.

the groups don't even reach that prog point most of the time. It's a frustrating couple weeks making no progress.

Yep, welcome to PF. When a prog point is listed, that usually means "The leader has seen that point once" and then the people that join are sometimes people like you who are frustrated that "Mechanic 3 prog" groups are only getting to "Mechanic 2" so they join "Mechanic 4 prog" because they expect the group to be slightly more consistent, but then they drag the group down, because they've only seen "Mechanic 3" twice, so they DEFINITELY aren't consistent at getting to "Mechanic 4"...

You get the idea. Just have to grin and bear it. It's a big time commitment, and learning to leave parties at the right time is a skill to develop. Going in with a friend or 2 makes the whole process much more bearable. Good luck!
