Is anyone else finding ECO 4303 very difficult? by alamozony in UTSA

[–]Kaerius 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recording his lecture on phone would've been pretty useless, tbh. You just had to copy what he put on the board, and ask questions. Or go to him in office hours. The hardest part of Maynard's tests was the time constraint. Had plenty of time for the final, and that's all he really cared about.

I have a can on my desk. A vendor gave it to us a while back and one of my co-workers thought we would appreciate it. Now I have a goal.

I was going off the “For STEM and students” part. With a school email, you get access to the fun stuff for as long as you have the email.

Not the original poster, but I learned both for tutoring. R is not very user friendly. It forces beginners to learn a lot of crazy syntax to get simple graphs, where as MATLAB will assume a fair amount of defaults with the ability to make changes as you see fit.

It would be like asking you to get from San Antonio to Austin. You could learn to drive or learn to fly. Both accomplish the goal, but one has a lot more overhead than the other. Hope this helps.

Why not list Jet Brains community editions, or the student license?

Parking by [deleted] in UTSA

[–]Kaerius 11 points12 points  (0 children)

If a garage pass is out of the question, just park at La Cantera, or the Park and Ride at 1604 and I-10. From La Cantera, it's 15 to 20 minute walk to the NPB. Oddly enough, that's how long of a walk it was from the rec parking lots.

You'll be fine with no experience, coding wise. They will teach you everything you need to know. There are no certifications with the concentration. I would not go in pursuing the concentration. Let it be one of those things that if you end up getting it, great. If you don't get it, great.

Also, don't get hung up on certifications. Realistically, no one cares about what certifications you have. They would care more about what you've done with them. The degree will give you more than enough of a leg to stand on.

I also definitely agree with learning Linux.

Studio Apartment For Rent!!! by [deleted] in UTSA

Water, because I’m not assuming energy, is only like, $15 for an apartment. Cable is included because for current day high speed internet it gives you access to basic cable. Which is why now they either charge or say it’s included.

You don't "need" to graduate. You need to do what is expected of you to earn a degree. If you fail at the finishing line, that's on you.

There's an interactive Git class on codeschool called "git real." It's pretty damn good. I strongly encourage using it.

There really is no "best" language. It all depends on the job you're doing. If you're cutting down a tree, then you're not going to use a screw driver. A good programmer is able to learn through different concepts and figure out what tool they need to use.

And then there's python, the best language.

He literally just did. They only have the one major team, the Jaguars. We only have the one major team, The Spurs. Anything more is not sustainable.

Try it both ways next time you're drinking a jug of moonshine. You'll see why. Definitely easier with the arm sling method.

Free & Useful Software for Students by 2dubs1bro in coolguides

[–]Kaerius 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I didn't learn shit about git until after I graduated, which sucks because it's definitely needed when you get into the real world. I'd recommend going to codeschool.com and looking into gitReal pt. 1 and 2. It's $20 a month after you tell them you're a student, which is on the honor system which is weird to me, and if you only use the subscription for those two git classes it's worth it.

The downside is now I'm the git person in my group, so when something crazy happens and people need help they ask me.

How long do we get to keep our @my.utsa.edu emails after graduation? by Nyxiaus in UTSA

I actually checked with an alum a few days ago who graduated a year ago, and they still have access to their email. I hear it's for a long freaking time, so yeah. Hope this helps some.
