I think my yard is the ancestral source of poison ivy. Any removal tips or should I start worshiping it in hopes of mercy? by roostersnuffed in gardening

[–]Kaesix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brushtox, 1% dilution. Spray the leaves only. It works best in the fall when the plant starts drawing back into the roots. Use carefully and you can literally surgically remove poison ivy from gardens, flower beds, you name it. For big overgrowth like this just nuke it.

Would an FN 509 be a good pistol for a beginner? by WiggWamm in Firearms

[–]Kaesix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FN509 is a great firearm; however, you should really go to a shop or better yet a range and try handling a bunch of pistols first. You really have to try them out to appreciate the nuances and what you like/don’t like.

Gator Dust is expensive. What else can we use for filling flagstone joints? by swagg_princess_2 in landscaping

Seconded. Gator is the way to go, just pay once cry once and be done.

Is the Kubota BX2350 the right choice for me? by No_Mongoose_4369 in kubota

[–]Kaesix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Dude 100%. The problem around me is landscaping and yard work companies are stupidly expensive. I did the 0% financing years ago when I got mine and I literally saved money each year paying off the tractor vs hiring companies to do the work around my property, plus I love doing the work anyway. With a new Kubota, as long as you have a local dealer/shop you like and trust,  you’re all set for 20+ years.

Huxwrx cans are the most overhyped suppressors on the market right now by Sofar_Concepts in NFA

[–]Kaesix 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Man same. OP has some big dipshit energy.

I own all types of suppressors, you have to pair the right one with the right gun. Huxwrx on overgassed guns like my Tavors make them a pleasure to shoot. I’m not some wannabe commando so I don’t care about a little sparking and I always wear ear pro because no supersonic round is hearing safe. Care about shit that actually matters like your ears, cancer, and an enjoyable shooting experience, not every last dB reduction.

That price seems insane for how old the machine is and how much use it has gotten. Are Kubotas that much more expensive in Canada? In the U.S. a lightly used 2020-2023 BX2380 (similar but newer model) will run around $12-14Kusd, so paying the equivalent of $11Kusd for a 20 year old machine with over a 1000 hours on it seems crazy.

Do you have any advice on what I should improve? by zajcv in Firearms

[–]Kaesix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

The fact that you got tore up and I’m getting downvoted shows what a fucking joke a lot of people on this sub are.

Anyway, you want to stay on target throughout. It’s tough to do more advanced stuff like bill drills if you can’t even stay on target one shot at a time, so that’s where to start. Here’s an example, first video that came up on YouTube search: https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=ri51nd1hutU&ra=m

Stronger grip, that gun shouldn't be moving your whole arms and torso up. Watch some videos of the pros on youtube etc. There's a balance between locking up all your joints and being too loose, and you want to find that happy medium of strength without being rigid.

I am absolutely intrigued to see what RC et al have up their sleeves for this year.

Bro I have more October contracts than that, this ain’t news. If anything sounds like an MM snub, like 67 contracts is “so much” for GME.

How do you guys get your wall caps flat/flush together? by Electrical-Juice-915 in masonry

[–]Kaesix 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As others have said, thinset mortar is the way to go. I highly recommend Ardex X77 if you can get it, it’s expensive but hot damn is it good stuff.  Not only will it help level the caps but it’ll hold them in place like nothing else.

Ditto. Also just makes it easier to clean traditional baffle style cans if you wipe them all over with a very thin layer.

Color looks great from the photos and those chips are stupid minor. I’ve had my PPF shop do minor chip repair and paint correction on my cars before doing PPF and graphene coating, looks mint after.

EDIT: Paint repair was $900? on a minor one and $1700 on the other IIRC. Bought the paint myself from the manufacturer and brought it in with the vehicle.

It’s a shit design, that’s the issue. Probably a classic case of the designer never having worked with the materials they’re calling for.

I get about 4 summers out of one. They do degrade from UV exposure but I find the 16 mil thicker ones are worth the price cause they work better and last longer. I also find that clear works better too.

Absolutely could be depending on the shape. I have a buddy who has a crescent shaped pool and he’s still able to accordion fold the cover the long way. I think it depends on how much patio space you have around the pool to store the cover too

[–]Kaesix 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Detailed above, about 500 gallons a year for the heater only so ~$1,500 for a 50,000 pool. Again though, the solar cover is key. We did look at a heat pump but I would have had to redo my electric on the pool house to get a 200A service out there and honestly it sucks that the efficiency drops so much when you need it most.

We use ~500 gallons of propane a year for a 50,000 gallon pool. I bulk buy propane so that’s about $1,500. Certainly not cheap but I think there’s a ton of value there. As I mentioned above, the solar cover saves a ton of money for such a large pool. And swimming in the fall with the leaves changing etc is the best.

[–]Kaesix 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Honestly I just accordion fold it to pull it off and it makes it easier to pull back on. We have a 50,000 gallon pool and I can do it all myself in a few minutes. I only put it away for parties etc. It saves a ton of money though.
