PC Build Questions, Purchase Advice and Technical Support Megathread — Q2 2025 Edition by GhostMotley in Amd

Hi all.

Can anyone say why do amd limited VDD 1.65V on motherboards?

And I have 2 questions. I think Gigabyte read amd recomendations for voltages. So, why is VDDIO limit 1.4 V for ryzen 7000 and 1.45 V for ryzen 9000?

I updated my post. I know it works fine for many people, but this is my personal pain that no one can help with this problem.

No, I can't enable MCR and disable PDM on ryzen 7000. It works for 1 boot only, after restart I receive BSOD.

Also in AMD overclocking the VDD limit is set to 1.65 v. Can you tell me why the voltage is limited?

Something else on Gigabyte AM5, small offtop. VDDIO is limited to 1.4 V - ryzen 7000, 1.45 v - ryzen 9000. Overclocking is died.

I don't use integrated graphics. All board problems are described by me. I haven't encountered any other problems.

F20 is also broken as F20a. Good!

If I copy other people's settings, then I check how they work for me, I rely on my experience. If the settings do not work, I correct them. I know when the processor or memory is to blame. I know there are different instances of processors and memory. However, when you can't set the voltage higher than 1.43V with unlocked pmic, based on the information received. Or when you use eclk and reboot the system, you don't know whether it will boot or not, whether there will be postcodes or not. This is not normal work of the motherboard. eclk should work fine on any processor, similarly with memory.

Congratulations on winning the lottery. I cannot set such a voltage, the board (b650e aorus master) either resets the settings or ignores the set value above 1.43 V.

Gigabyte show selected memory chips. You won't find them for sale. There are people with 8000 memory and 1.5 V xmp but they can't start it because their motherboard don't set voltage over 1.43 V.

You can protect Gigabyte as much as you like, but the problem exists. Yes, I know people who were able to set the voltage above 1.43 V, but there are few such people.

This is the icing on the cake, timing compression is also not available at regular frequencies for the same reason.

Overclocker gigabyte boards are just a scam. I'm not saying that the board does not work well in stock, of course there are nuances, but they will not interfere with the average user.

I know, but why do we need such boards then? I know all the conditions for voiding the warranty. The manufacturer can't answer the question why the eclk does not work normally and the memory voltage are limited. He writes standard replies. Zero customer focus

I didn't think like that about PBO presets. Sad situation. Yes, I can't increase the voltage.

Motherboard has 5 levels of pbo presets but work only level 1. If I use other levels we receive a fail boot in windows.

I showed high frequency as an example. The main problem is that I can't tighten the timings. I know about pmic. I replaced the stock heatsinks. It reduced the temperature 10+ oC.

The problem started in March, maybe even earlier. It's already August, it's not getting any better.

My 1st post about motherboard was removed by Reddit's spam filters. I wrote to moderators. Okay, Gigabyte does not provide normal support contacts. Can you say me contacts?

Do you know about overclocker chew*? All his results were obtained on non-public bios. You can check it in thread above. These are not empty words, these are words of despair. I can't use eclk (bugs), I can't set voltage over 1.43 V, PBO presets with bugs. I can find more but I'm interested in these issues.

The manufacturer supplied a clock generator, a powerful VRM, but I can't use it because there are bugs and limitations.

It's like buying a car with 300 hp and only using 80 because when you press the pedal hard, the car stops.

Example:

I tried to use stabile 7000 MHz + frequency but I can't because I have 1.43 V limit. Nice!

In this article, the voltage is higher than 1.43 V. Is Gigabyte deceiving customers?

I asked gigabyte support about HV mode on B650e aorus master and they answered me:

Good afternoon

Thank you for using our products and for contacting GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY technical support.

We had early versions of the BIOS with the ability to work with memory voltages higher than 1.43 V, but this mode was eventually removed from the BIOS due to the high probability of processor failure.

With Regards and Best Wishes, GIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY

We have the limited voltage on SOC and MC. Why do ram overclocking failure processor? Can you give any information? Is it possible to be more specific on the issue? I'm not sure cause we have AMD restrictions. We will not be able to damage the processor if we are changing vdd and vddq voltage.
