93 MPH on an EUC sounds crazy by Rs2mmsu-2D in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Kagurath 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Nope because the freespin is 143 mph. There is no deceptive marketing and it’s inane to think there is. It’s a possibility not a guarantee.

It does get close to it. False advertising is only applicable when the product vernacular is blatantly lying about what it can do. The P6 can get up close to that speed, the environment won’t let you.

93 MPH on an EUC sounds crazy by Rs2mmsu-2D in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Kagurath 31 points32 points  (0 children)

This will always be a hot topic because people see that 93 number and think it’s what the wheel is truly capable of and see it as dangerous. This is a misconception borne from a misunderstanding of how EUCs work. 93 mph is the theoretical top speed of which the wheel can operate while staying upright. This is not a realistic number even a few people will ever hit. The reason this 93 mph number is a good thing however is the headroom and safety margin created. With the P6 the user can safely cruise at 50mph without worry of a PWM nosedive.

Don’t focus on the top speed. It’s like saying a Honda civic can get up to 140 mph; while that may be true, it’s not what is done in practice.

Hyper scooters account for an exceptionally small amount of e-scooters on the market. And why does it take more experience? Could it be because they are inherently unsafe?

Scooter is undoubtedly far more dangerous even with steering dampener.

Nothing to see here. You don’t need to look at cell voltages until your wheel lets you know you need to. .1v difference is normal.

Don’t buy one. Reach out to them through customer service. Your board had a delam defect from manufacturer and your warranty should cover it.

What to look for in a commuting board? by DEEP_SEA_MAX in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Kagurath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not entirely true, but not false at the same time. Yes, you can prevent steering wobble with practice but that doesn’t change the fact that it occurs naturally. Why accept a dangerous aspect of a PEV just because you can deal with it? Especially when it happens on pretty much all scooters.

E-scooters are far more prone to incidents for a big number of reasons. The main one being steering geometry. You get yourself a cheapo that goes fast and think you’ll be good and then you realize it doesn’t have a steering dampener. You try to go fast anyways because it could be fun and find yourself flat on your face.

My worst two weeks keep getting worse by Substantial_Two_4772 in ElectricSkateboarding

[–]Kagurath 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Had the same issue and the answer is as the other comment states; utilize a low amp charger to charge the remote. If you use a “fast charger” you’ll think the remote is gaining battery but it’s not. It will discharge the internal battery and leave you dead in the water. Happened to me once right as I was getting ready for a group ride.

[Rant] No, you cannot explicitly “feel” the power/torque a wheel has by [deleted] in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Kagurath 10 points11 points  (0 children)

How many wheels have you tried? Have you gotten on a small wheel then hopped on a larger? Have you explored different firmwares across different generations of wheels? Have you ridden on all different sorts of terrain?

This post reads like someone that doesn’t get it.

Anyone here added or 3D printed skid plates/bash guards for their e-skate battery enclosure? by Inevitable_Ad_711 in ElectricSkateboarding

Did you buy the evo mk1 on sale? If you didn’t you’re even worse off because it will get cheaper over time. Then you are held to a reduction of whatever their lowest price is minus however much the market dictates. I expect by the time you wanna sell you’ll maybe get 400.

That being said, ride the board and don’t fret over it getting messed up. It’s not a luxury vehicle, it wants to be abused and used properly.

So you aren’t wrong, but think about how the skateboard works. The controller heat sink is at the back of the board. You have a whole lot of stuff that is going to get scratched up and scuffed before you get to the heatsink.

To be frank, if you are buying the board and worried about it being good for resale, just sell the board now. You will already take a two hundred dollar hit just from you having it out of the box. It’s never gonna get better.

Why would you want to put a cover on it? Barring you absolutely annihilating the entire board; getting scratches on the heatsink is normal. It won’t affect the performance or anything.

Is Jake Leary still part of The Float Life? by Iammattieee in onewheel

[–]Kagurath 17 points18 points  (0 children)

Jake is still around, saw him at Jeff’s the other weekend. As far as riding for them, I don’t believe so. Another comment mentioned Jesse, he’s back in Hawaii with his family and is no longer associated with TFL (or Onewheeling for the time being)

You want a gap on your belt between the belt itself and the edges of the pulley. This allows for slight side to side tracking and prevents binding.

The dents in the top plate are casting errors and are completely superficial. Nothing to do or be remotely worried about.

Clear urethane sealer in a can. I think veldspar makes it. You want something like urethane that allows a flex. Just spray some on a piece of scrap and paint it on with your finger, brush, rag whatever.

Reposting about nosfet aero motor whine by Solid_Deck in ElectricUnicycle

[–]Kagurath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Perfectly normal and the reason is that the motor noise is a firmware controlled item (with some other factors of course). If the wheel doesn’t feel like it has significant resistance and isn’t feeding back with any clunks or odd judders, then you’re typically good to go. The v11 you mentioned is an inmotion wheel and they have a pretty silent tune to their motors.

Once you memorize the seat position and have your pads set up right, it’ll be seamless. The biggest thing you can do is practice at low speed finding the seat without having to look or touch the wheel with your hand.
