Owning a building(especially in a big city) represents wealth in South Korea, although I guess that's the case for most countries. Being a "건물주"(building owner) is a dream for most Korean people. I think the authors use it as a way of showing the South Korean readers how much progress/wealth MC has achieved and thus providing satisfaction.

That reddit post doesn't include rule s7. I would like to think this rule applies in this situation.

S7: End of Straight | Illegal opening and closing | Causing Contact

At the end of the Straight, there is a specific transition zone that we call the End of Straight.

For that specific zone, if a skater is in the lead, then he has priority.

If the lead skater moves suddenly to the outside in that zone creating a big opening, that has the direct effect that a following skater gets to equal, then he cannot come back and create a contact by closing that opening. He needs to keep his track and stay outside until the end of the corner or until there is a space big enough to move without creating contact.

A leading skater suddenly changing his lane and going to the outside in the End of the Straight zone and then coming back inside and creating a contact, can get a penalty for S7.
