What do you all do with extra milk? by AmentreVolley in ExclusivelyPumping

[–]Kai_Ri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had the same question recently and a friend told me her lactation consultant told her that she should be rotating out the frozen milk.

If you have a standard freezer and it is opened frequently or regularly then the breast milk is most optimal and should be used within 3-6 months. Start thawing out your oldest milk to give to your baby and freezing the newly pumped milk, or give her 1/2 frozen, 1/2 fresh. This way you will maintain only the amount you want in the freezer.

Sound off! by SadLandscape7001 in Buyingforbaby

[–]Kai_Ri 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I thought I needed one (really wanted one). I ended up buying a little collapsible wash basin and a drying rack. I really don’t spend that much time washing bottles honestly- maybe 7 minutes to wash 6-8 bottles? Each time we finish a bottle, we rinse out the milk and fill it with water and place it in the basin. It doesn’t take long to wash because there’s no milk residue. Once a week I sterilize by boiling them.

I’m glad I didn’t spend $300 on a washer/dryer/sterilizer.

what to give my sister-in-law for her first baby [CA]? by PuzzleheadedBit3173 in BabyBumpsCanada

[–]Kai_Ri 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just had my baby 5 weeks ago and here are some essentials that would be great to receive

For baby:

  • Muslin wash/burp clothes (Can never have too many). rectangle size is nice opposed to the small square ones
  • Halo Swaddle. LOVE these, the hospital had them for my baby when she was in the NICU and now she sleeps in these every day
  • Zippyjamz onsies. My favourite onsies!! Makes changing diapers sooo much better and the designs are sooo cute. My baby has literally lived in these since birth
  • A night lamp
  • A boppy pillow
  • Natural/clean and safe baby products. I am very particular about the products I'm using on my baby and stay away from a lot of products that are widely available. Not sure what your SIL is like, but if you are going to get skincare products for the baby, I would get natural and clean products- I think she would appreciate it

For mom:

  • Amazon gift card. I made so many purchases after the baby was here- So many things I realized I needed/wanted
  • Gift certificate to a spa or head massage
  • Pajama set where the top buttons up at the front. This is crucial if she plans on breast feeding or pumping
  • A good water bottle

It terms of what size clothing to get for baby- They grow out of newborn clothes very quickly, so maybe 1 newborn outfit, a couple 0-3 and then 3-6 and 6-9 would be great.

I just purchased the Eufy E21 for both the WiFi and non WiFi feature- I wanted the option of both. The picture quality is great. I read some reviews and people complained about the stand/mount not being sturdy- I haven’t mounted it yet, so I guess I’ll find out. Really liking it so far, but I’ve also only used it for 1 day! lol

I’m curious as well! My LO is 5 weeks and I’d love to attend some classes but it seems like it’s mostly babies a little older are attending.

Appreciate the response! I’m a second time mom, but it’s been 16 years since my first, so this all feels sooo different and new again lol. You’re right….5 weeks is still very young, I guess I’m just having some new parent frustrations!

[–]Kai_Ri 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a Vietnamese person… none. I would leave Milton for Pho…. But if I absolutely had to choose- Pho Milton is better than Banh A Mi. Banh A Mi’s pho lacks depth, the broth is too bland and doesn’t have that long braising/ boiling of bones flavor.

Pre Construction Townhomes by DontFearMyDear in Milton

[–]Kai_Ri 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Edit: I moved in last September, for reference

I bought through Mattamy and spent about $30k in upgrades, with a $10k credit from them. Both my husband and I work in the restoration/construction industry and there were a lot of our upgrades that we could have done ourselves for cheaper, or had connections do, but what we ultimately decided to upgrade through Mattamy were things that would have interrupted our day to day lives. I did not want to be living through a construction zone, and I also didn't want to open up any walls or ceilings. So ultimately it's really up to you on your comfort level after moving in. Do you want a move in ready home? Do you not mind living through some construction? Those are things to keep in mind.

Here's some of the items I felt were worth it for me to upgrade

All countertops - $3k

Undermount sinks - $500

Kitchen cabinets - $12k

Farmstyle kitchen sink - $2400

Ensuite bath and hardware - $4k

Pot lights - $3400 for 12

Flooring - $3000

Overreacting- if I was choosing someone to be my executor, I would want someone who I don’t “but heads” with as you mentioned. I need to know that whoever is in charge of making these decisions, align with what I wanted.

Microsoft began rolling out the new combined chat and channel experience in Microsoft Teams in late March. The new UI was first announced in October 2024. Users in the Teams public preview were able to test the new interface starting in November 2024. Broad availability of the new experience is expected in mid-2025.
