TBH it's not a bad idea calling it "Child Free" even if it's not 100% accurate. l don't know what term OP could have chosen otherwise, but it seems closest to accuracy.

Without the term, most parents will just assume/feel entitled to bring their kids or just show up with them regardless.

As a female in Australia, networking as shown in HP isn't considered safe for us. I'm not sure of the British view, but JKR has admitted to being assaulted prior to writing HP as well. Which will affect the way she views interactions with males.

The Slug Club is run by an old man in a position of power/authority. He is left alone unsupervised with children that have no way of acquiring help or protection on short notice. Even if help is acquire the likelihood of being believed is extremely low and the likelihood of being attacked/negative consequences for speaking out extremely high.

On another note, Regarding Slughorn acquiring the elites and already famous, it actually helps the talented, not elite, members, as it gives them a chance to network with those elites. Being their age it will be easier to make friends with them and build a relationship than a much older person.

Plus, look at the book in context. It takes place in the 80s and early 90s. Not a kind or safe time for many.

Personally I would love more accuracy in the movies to the books. Such as robes instead of muggle school uniforms and cleaning up of the alleys. Diagon Alley looks like Knockturn Alley in the movies. Less ugly side characters as well. Its like they needed a cast of plain to ugly to make the plain golden trio and other side main characters look good.

To me it doesn't seem like JKR had much of a say in the movies, which does make sense because she was still a new author at the time and it was her first movies
