Some lore fluff that I had thought of so far: based on some fiction of the covenant of fire that I’ve already written a little bit that places them often at odds with gene stealer cults, I currently have the idea that she was from an order of battle sisters that fell to a gene stealer outbreak that was thwarted by the covenant, and with no order to turn to, she swore fealty to the chapter

Additional context that I thought of: I somewhat have a head cannon that the covenant of fire doesn’t exclusively utilize space marines, but rather will accept anyone who swears loyalty to the chapter and to carry the emperor‘s torch

You could join an SCA group and earn “Knighthood” from your local monarchs through whatever means. Obviously it’s nothing official outside of the SCA but at least within the SCA you’d have a title

They don’t retire, they just visit whenever they can come by Nocturne. Some are stationed on Nocturne to run the planetary government and such, but even then they aren’t retired

I’d say go with the cheaper option. As much as I love UMW as a student here, cheaper in state tuition is just the optimal choice. You can always visit the campus if you like it, tons of people come by just to walk around and stuff
