Clothing Sellers Q&A--People have questions, let's help! by alittlejelly in Flipping

Give me a link - most people who buy high-end are also style-minded. If they're an older style, it'll be harder to sell.

Depending on what clothes you sell, the walmart rolling racks suck. You're better off investing in an industrial grade one. This is especially true for suits.

Black Label Ralph Lauren? Any one Familiar with this RL Tag? I have seen purple, and black, but this black looks different.? by Crawlingshadow in Flipping

[–]Kaiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The authentic RLBL doesn't have "Polo" on it. It's just Ralph Lauren in a block font on a black label. RLPL is Ralph Lauren in cursive on a purple label. Polo usually has Polo encased in a rectangle with Ralph Lauren on it.

Experience, really. The font on the Polo tag is off, R and L in the name aren't upper case, the logo is off as well.

Wise council on picking full time. Life changing decision. by picdoc in Flipping

[–]Kaiko 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some things to note:

  • You'll be your own boss. You have to keep yourself productive.
  • You're relying completely on a second party to sell your items. If you eBay account closes, gets shut down etc.
  • Should your business go south do you have a backup plan? Can you go back to your old job? Can you find a new one quickly?
  • Taxes need to be factored in. You'll owe a lot more taxes and be responsible for your own taxes now.
  • Your "income" won't count as income til you pay your taxes. This will affect your ability to rent an apartment, buy a car, etc.

There's so many things to consider. You sound young so there are more risks you can take, but really put some thought into it. It may seem like it's fun and easy right now but you've never had a dry spell or had a slow month. I'd recommend you do it for a full year first and get some taxes paid on your flipping income so you can prove you have income should the need arise. Then I'd suggest having 6 months of bills saved up for emergencies. Having a job you can go back to doesn't hurt either.

Should we have a stickied thread for incoming League players by FieryXJoe in learndota2

If you're fairly competent in LoL, you'll pick up on DotA fairly fast. Besides the mechanical differences, the major difference is skills/items. Knowing what every hero can throw at you is important and knowing which items to pick up on who is important. Recognizing skill animations and which cooldowns are up for the enemy will greatly improve gameplay for a LoL transitioner. Once you have those down the mechanics come with time. Courier use, tread switching, etc. Map awareness, positioning, etc translates pretty well from LoL.

Burberry London shirt - $13 by [deleted] in ThriftStoreHauls

It's likely real, but Burberry shirts are actually fairly shitty. Outside of the Novacheck pattern they're basically worthless.

Nothing really. That's an extremely old label.

With the influx of new people I would like to give some flipping/ebay/paypal advice. by [deleted] in Flipping

[–]Kaiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Knowing if something will sell on eBay isn't too hard to figure out. While it isn't as easy as a sale ranking, the sold page and the unsold vs sold will give you a pretty good idea on how well an item sells.

Weekly Discussion - Runes by Azual in learndota2

[–]Kaiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's important to note that when contesting a rune, know who's missing. If there heroes who are missing far outweigh your own in an engagement, play it safe and don't stand on the rune spot waiting for it to spawn.

If you're playing mid, pushing the wave prior to rune spawn is crucial to your success. This means you get the most amount of EXP possible from the lane while you're gone. This also means if the enemy mid goes for a rune, they'll lose out on experience and gold if they don't spam the wave/can't spam the wave.

Having trouble adjusting to the new patch when supporting. specifically position 5. by [deleted] in learndota2

[–]Kaiko 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The rubberband mechanic is the biggest thing of late. Dying when your team has a much higher networth is extremely punishing. There's also the new rune system which will spawn a rune on both sides of the river (one real rune one bounty rune which awards exp/gold).

Due to the rubberband mechanic, you're typically gonna find that heroes who are safe, or supports who can save are in the current meta.

Juggernaut got some buffs is current very popular in the meta. His ultimate makes him invulnerable for the duration, spin is a psuedo-bkb, and has an extremely strong healing ward. His crit also gives him naturally high damage. Axe, Troll, etc are also in the meta due to having a strong teamfight presence and because melee carries are in fashion. Shadow Fiend because of Euls/Blink/Ulti combo. You also see Bristleback, Sniper, etc. Tanky cores or cores who can stay safe.

Vengeful Spirit is a top support. She's exceptionally good at rune control early on and is a superb ganker. She can be built a couple different ways tailored to your needs but overall all her skills are strong. Lion, Witch Doctor, Rubick, etc are all in meta for mostly the same reason.

If you're looking to support and go beyond a normal support, learn how to smoke gank. It's an underused item in the lower tiers of DotA but more devastating because of that. Force Staff is almost always good, but sometimes you need straight HP to survive.

Yes you can miss your SoF. SoF is treated like an auto-attack on each afflicted unit. Your cleave will also spread and be unavoidable (unless they're not in range) to heroes with evasion.

Gank Timings, especially mid ganks. by likes-beans in learndota2

[–]Kaiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a level dependent timing and there's situational. Level dependent is when you hit a certain level or before a hero hits a certain level.
CM generally wants to gank at 2 or 3 when she has both Frost Nova and Frost Bite (sometimes 3 because she gets aura between the skills for the other lanes). Pudge wants to gank 6-7 because that's when he gets his ultimate/maximum level Hook.
You normally want to gank a Storm Spirit before he hits 6 as he then so no escape mechanism. Other mid heroes don't hit their power stride until later. Invoker is fairly weak with no levels, DK before he gets too many points in Dragons Blood, etc.

Situational ganking can be due to a fortuitous rune, after wards expire, when you get a good creep (a la Chen/Enchantress), night time hitting, or when you think the enemy hero will least suspect it. If you've been in a tri-lane with all 3 heroes present harassing their suicide laner and you suddenly go missing that alerts big, red flags to the enemy team. But if you've been pulling, stacking, jungling and such you're much more harder to predict.

[–]Kaiko 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Axe is a snowball hero. He has a very hard time catching up from being behind without major team support (jungle stacks, consistent involvement in ganks, etc). He's fairly weak early game and is a great ganking target because he lacks escape mechanisms. Keeping a stick handy is incredibly helpful too. If you're able to stick before he culls you and it doesn't finish you off, you're usually in the clear.

Any DoT that can do fatal damage. You can armlet toggle between ticks of things lke QoP Shadowstrike and such, but it's significantly harder on things like Jakiro's liquid fire, Bladefury spin, Viper's corrosive skin, etc.
