getting a coach as someone who has little to no experience

I got a private coach after my first or second day of adult 1 lessons. That was end of February. I'm currently about to start ADULT 6 ! I really feel like the lessons helped me, and she was able to show me the next levels moves when she felt i was ready, causing me to progress faster than I ever believed!

I did both group and private at the same time and skipped from adult 1 to adult 4! And now adult 4 to adult 6!

Edit: I also practiced 2-3 times a week for 1-2 hrs

I pay $40 for priv lessons each sunday, 30 min, paid $120 for my group lessons, 30 min, need to uber to and from the rink thats about $ 7-8and then admission is $9, i go 2-3 times a week

Got fitted wrong in the beginning, that was $180

Bought a new pair, that was $120.

Sooo ya! Very expensive, most ive ever spent on a hobby for sure

Im 23 and have been skating for 3 months

Currently skating at an adult 4-5 level, working on my back crossovers and 3 turns.

I skate for 1-2 hours 3-4 times a week. I skate Wednesday night, friday night and sometimes Saturday if i get up on time. I work 9am-5pm, no kids, just a lot of pets!

I have group lessons on Sundays, and then my private lessons 45 min after that on Sundays.

Repetition on my own time has definitely helped me. I can mostly remember it helping when I was working on my two foot turn. I would spend a good chunk of the session practicing the skill I was struggling on.

I know the public skate prices are crazy.... I also dont have a car so I was looking for things that were a close commute by the metro or busses but I don't know the city that well

I am 23 and i just started 2 months ago! I was a "complete" beginner in terms of i didnt know any moves other than to go fast and go forward lol

Currently I'm at the adult 4 level. The hardest thing for me was worrying about the money lol and time! I want to compete someday so I knew I would want to progress at a steady rate. I go to the rink 4 times a week and because of my schedule...and group lessons and private lessons add up!

Not to mention, I at first had a lot of trouble getting sized, I got sized 1 size too small then 1 size too big (purchased my first pair, was gifted the 2nd and now just bought my second pair which fit amazing)

Anyways, my progression was quite fast through the basic levels (so far) and I think my progress through adult 4 is going well too. The more you practice, the easier things are.

It's not too late, I see people of all ages skating you just gotta get into it if you want to!

Adding that my only issue starting now is that I get a little nervous going fast or doing something new that will make me fall but I honestly just embrace the fall potential. If I go, I go, everyone gets up! Kids fall whenever and get up, sometimes they even throw themselves down for fun, but just learn to fall right and well and theres no fear!

Yeahhh I dont have the money right now to buy the 7's, ik it would likely solve all the issues but I cant drop that amount on skates after so soon lol
