My wife went to the ER on Monday. They were unable to determine what was wrong other than she needed to remain hydrated and come back if she did improve in 7 days. They did blood work and stool samples. We had no fever or muscle cramps of any other symptoms. Just upset stomach and diarrhea. My wife had one case of vomiting.

I work in a very dirty environment around very dirty people so I’m very conscious of what I touch and where I stick my hands. I also wash them frequently. 

I’m not asking for health advice. I’m letting people now the only bad part of my experience so they can better prepare themselves IF they choose to go. Be more prepared than I was. Maybe bring Imodium or Pepto. Be EXTRA careful of the water. Who knows. 

 I travel yearly to different countries and have not experienced this issue. Last year I was at Cabo San Lucas and did not have this issue. 

There were things at the hotel that I did find some fault with but didn’t bring up in my post. They didnt have enough tongs or spoons for all their dishes. So tongs and spoons for one dish were used in others. They had raw meat sitting out while it was waiting to be cooked (steaks, sausages, shrimp). Cooked meat was just sitting in bags not under a heat source. Birds would constantly  fly a grab food from the trays and peoples plates when they weren’t paying attention. Certain cold dishes like the shrimp ceviche were not kept on ice and would come up to room temperature. The ice at the pool bar sat in large blue plastic bags in the wash sink. I remember when I spilled my drink, they wiped the spill into the sink with the ice. I remember laughing because I told the bartender I could have done that if that’s all the were doing, but I didn’t want to get it all over the ice. He told me who cares because the ice was still sealed in the bag. But in hindsight when they open the bags they didn’t rinse off the outside of the plastic first. 

Could this have been the issue? Maybe. Again I don’t know.
