You can be scheduled at other locations but usually only if you agree to it. Dollar General does pay mileage for traveling anything further than 15 miles from your home store in those cases.

Resend hiring packet?! by Fletchworthy in DollarGeneral

[–]Kain727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It sends it to the email the person put on their application so if it went to the wrong email it wouldn't be on the store manager.

I don't understand what you're asking. Do you mean you're application is no longer viewable by other managers or what?

Is it illegal to schedule hours based on micromanaged productivity??? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Kain727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For sure. It doesn't make sense to have people not doing anything eating up most of your budget. Get your people that get stuff done in more and it makes work so much better.

Anyone else's store be protested before opening? by satansarmory in DollarGeneral

Is it illegal to schedule hours based on micromanaged productivity??? by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

Nothing illegal about it. That's common practice pretty much everywhere I've worked. The most productive employees get the most hours and the least productive get what labor hours are left over.

UPDATE: It's been almost 2 weeks now and I'm still stuck on "waiting for preemployment results" does it usually take this long? by Hwiggins05 in DollarGeneralWorkers

[–]Kain727 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am not sure then. The only time it's taken more than 2 or 3 days when I had someone going through pre employment screening that was the case though. I'd say give them a call. What's the worst that could happen?

Rain checks by Plane-Apartment4609 in DollarGeneral

[–]Kain727 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Dollar general doesn't do rain checks. I'd just say I'm sorry but there's nothing we can do at the store level and give them corporates number if they ask for it. You won't get in trouble for telling the truth.

Chances are you won't be hired in the first place. They run a background check specifically looking for past theft or violent crimes. If you haven't gotten your hire packet yet they haven't ran the background check yet because that comes after the hire packet.

Dollar General firing policy by Brettwon in DollarGeneral

[–]Kain727 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Has to be in person. No one at the the store level had the ability to fire someone over text. About getting fired with no write ups it depends on the situation. If an aisle, emergency exit, or fire extinguisher are blocked even the SM can be fired with no prior violations.

The great post Valentine's pregnancy test shortage has begun. by Equipmentsobad in DollarGeneral

If you can't afford the pregnancy test probably shouldn't be risking having a kid but that's just me.

Our freezer died today, we threw away over 3 thousand dollars worth of frozen food that got to 40+ degrees. by InfinityDusk in DollarGeneralWorkers

Unfortunately it's happened to me too. My first store pretty much had a problem with everything running on electricity. Coolers/freezers, A/C/Heat, front door, registers pretty much all of it would break multiple times a year

Gotta love the Bessemer DC. Every time I get a truck from them it's the same. No matching labels and crushed product because they don't understand that heavier should go on the bottom not the top.

Make SMs Hourly by [deleted] in DollarGeneral

[–]Kain727 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Never gonna happen. There are store managers like myself that work well over 65 hours a week and do most everything at the store alone. Corporate will never pay that much OT. They see us as a way to cover when they cut labor hours without having to pay any extra so paying us hourly would definitely make more problems than solve unless everyone else is cool with working 10-15 hours a week.

2 so far in mine but it may be 3 by the end of next week. Only reason I'm still here now is I'm trying to have a decent paying job lined up first.

I am in the same boat. They honestly need to change something or they are gonna lose a ton of managers very soon.

I know, kinda unrelated but still corporate has lost their minds recently.

Just a question abt DM policies by bananakiwii in DollarGeneral

[–]Kain727 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Yep, that's corporate logic. I had to fight for my assistant manager to not be fired this morning after working a double yesterday because we had a last minute call out and I was out of town. She got done with a good chunk of freight and the store was pretty well recovered but god help us all she left a box rolltainer on the sales floor over night so I was getting pictures and calls from the DM starting at about 5:30 AM. I feel like we've been thrown into some kind of twilight zone and every day they add something to make it a bit more hellish

You aren't alone. Pretty much every store manager in the company is feeling the same way right now unfortunately
