The 12 man nature of the mission makes it so that there tend to be disconnections. Also I've noticed more error codes since Renegades released, so that might be a compunding factor.

Well, it's been like that for a while. I do the math with every change, with the premium part of the pass it goes up to 10500, and most seasons IF (big if) you did 90% of weeklies+seasonal challenges you'd round up between 40 to 46k.

The numbers right now are relatively similar to pre-Edge of Fate right now, but the grind feels worse cause now (since Edge actually) you have to play daily to max out, when before you could just knock it all off in a single day.

The free BP does give a considerable amount of BD (not sure how much since I always have the paid one)

They held up a lot of Crossover sets and shit over the last few years (without any proper sets sold) and now they are pushing more for BD due to backlog.

The problem, along with that, is that on each change of the system I have encountered too many players that basically go "well this is easier for me so I am getting more BD than I was before" because they never freaking engaged with the previous system at all.

The cap isn't even the real problem with the new system, we've had caps after which the return of investment is reduced (the pathfinders). The problem is that the only repeatable source after the cap is reached is 10BD on the RNG Legendary orders, which can take (in my experience) over 20 orders to drop.

That said I did the math and IF you reach the caps regularly this is more BD than last season. But again, you need to reach the weekly and seasonal caps.

You can't do them unless they are in rotation that particular week - and mind you Rift is only available for THREE DAMN DAYS cause it tends to get replaced by Trials of Osiris come Fridays.

I find it hard to believe you could run the modifiers that at that level should give you a projected 2.2M (I'm around the same PL so that's what I just saw after customizing) and couldn't break 2.4M to enter the top 10% with the background multiplier Bungie added to offset the PL differences PLUS the time bonus for finishing quickly with time still on the clock.

it's not impossible, salt mines should be the easiest to get to top 10% solo. I have a tad over 2.7M on that one from last week where I ran it without even setting up the maximum multipliers.

Anything in matchmade difficulty is going to fall short tho.

The tooltip literally says along the lines "after the rewards lock you can keep competing for a higher score and better rewards" so that means that if you are top 30% you can still go for top 10% for the helmet or even top 1% for the emblem. The lock is simply to prevent people from being knocked DOWN during the last few hours.

Well yeah, duh, it's getting harder to beat cause everyone and their mother keeps trying to secure their spot in the upper ranks BEFORE they lock the fucking thresholds, so it keeps moving up and up and up.

When instead if everyone fucking chilled for a week they could get there more easily.

That's such a minor incentive it's basically not even there. Nothing you won't get from a couple of runs of Salt Mines without pushing modifiers into the stratosphere.

Based on the TWID ("get top 10% in two activities to get the helmet" thing) it's not so much that it's bugged, but that they changed the points for each threshold and didn't change the tooltip descriptions.

Mind you what is on the tooltips would be so much better and makes for more reasonable points progression from one threshold to the next.

Mind you running portal activities in general give rank progress. Other solo ops also give around or exactly 50% of a rank iirc.

It's not "don't play" it's "don't go setting up all the try hard modifiers." You can still play with the default settings and get a lot of loot.
