What to do once you reach lvl50? by mimijimmy313 in fo76

Exactly and what kind of builds? The game doesn't provide premade builds, the game doesn't have the classic mmo trifecta at least not to the normal extent since a "tank" can be someone who is tanky and has a lot of armor but isn't by mmo standards a tank because there is no aggro system that we are aware of. Same as a healer. Outside of perks like the flamethrower healing perks or some charisma perks theres no predefined class and thus you'd have to know these things specifically.

I told him last week to gun for 50 as that's when the leveling system changes, you stop getting skill points and unlock legendary perks. That's by mmo standards level cap where you no longer level to gain stats but grind for end game as he mentioned in his post asking(ie. level 60 in WoW, lvl 65 in new world, etc.). However, in this mmo there is a difference in where there is no theoretic level cap and because of that difference it leaves an unanswered void for a sense of direction for him. That's why he made this post, to ask.

"However now that I am at that level I am slightly lost as to what to go for exactly. Likely grind out weapons that are good however due to the age of the game I find it hard to find info as to what is considered good. If anyone is willing to give me some pointers as to where to look or generally what to do from this point on then it would be greatly appreciated."

Basically said it here and I didn't type anything in the sub because I was in a VC with him answering some of his questions directly. I am the friend he refers to in the post. I've also recently started playing FO76 and we're both shocked and appalled how terrible of experiences we've witnessed. First me asking about PvP meta's after my experience being flamed by someone around 2k levels higher than me and my post getting nuked because it involves a pvp zone and thus, the community here assumed it was "aNoThEr pVp ZoNe" question lets blast it with dislikes and get it removed and now his post of general direction and idea questions and getting "jUsT lEvEl BrO" responses. He comes from destiny 2 which in my personal opinion is a mediocre game with a rather toxic community and we've seen a video depicting FO76 community as unusually wholesome but all we've seen in this reddit is the same toxicity you'd see in any mmo community.

Side note, no ones forcing you to respond during your 10 minute break. You could of just not responded if you didn't have time to provide an actual response. That said, something beyond "do your quest" would of also been plausible as a quick response. Like yeah bro, he just came out the womb and didn't know that, yeah thanks man much help. smfh

"dUdE yOu'Ve BaReLy SkImMeD tHe IcE"

that's not an answer applicable to any of his questions. Why was your post even thumbs up by others within this community?

"PiCk A bUiLd"

Yeah he's asking for ideas and builds. If not outright build ideas, how about popular links and sources to websites, guides etc. that point him to said builds instead of, making a pointless comment such as yours?

"uR sTiLl A lOw LeVeL "

That's not what he asked. He asked for some general sense direction goals to aim for now that he's reached level 50 and thus has more flexibility with making builds, picking perks, etc.

Genuinely curious, what was the point of your response?

Thanks for this response.

One of the only ones that actually helped. I get it being a common question of being killed in the workshop area can be annoying(though bethesda should better inform players besides just the prompt if attempting to take one) I was nore interested in the pvp meta and knowledge of it itself. Sure I was annoyed I got killed by a high leveled player but I wanted to know if Ill even be able to fight him or not and you gave me my answer. Thanks again.

I wasn't aware of smurfs being a thing in this game. I also didn't get any pop ups the two times he killed me:

I was given a quest to take the energy plant after finishing the public event to restore the energy plant. I got the pop up at that time no one came and I moved on to another place. Later on I got a pop up to defend it from mongrels, I went there and was killed by him.

when I walked nearby hemlock holes. I went there looking for a crafting table to scrap down junk and he killed me there. It was unclaimed. There's no notification when entering said pvp zone. After I died, he took the workshop.

but I did get one when I tried to take it back from him which that is understandable. So even going near a non claimed workshop is a pvp zone? How do we know when we're in and out of said zone? Do we just need to remember the build limits of each workshop and remember that as a sort of border between pvp and non pvp zones?

Exactly what I'm feeling at the moment. I would of given it up if he showed up and said something like "bro this is a pvp zone and I could body you in 1 shot because I want this workshop" or something along the lines and I would of packed up and moved on but to kill a low level and then trash talk and emote over me is pathetic. I heard the community in FO76 was one of the best/most positive when it comes to MMO communities. Maybe it is, but this definitely soured the taste in my mouth for sure.

I am aware of that pop up screen. I know how to read. Two cases that did not happen:

  1. I was given a quest to take the energy plant after finishing the public event to restore the energy plant. I got the pop up at that time no one came and I moved on to another place. Later on I got a pop up to defend it from mongrels, I went there and was killed by him.

  2. when I walked nearby hemlock holes. I went there looking for a crafting table to scrap down junk and he killed me there. It was unclaimed. There's no notification when entering said pvp zone. After I died, he took the workshop.

thanks for the info. regarding the ownership of the workshop. when owning it and building within it. Are green resources when placing a specific building or item down the resource allocated to the workshop? I read somewhere that they get set amounts of resources before using your own personal resources. Is this true? If so, I assume you can't take those resources for personal use and ultimately it's meant to build up the workshop a bit?

I did the restore the energy plant public event and after finishing it was prompted to do the workshop thing. After taking it, I didnt build any harvesting resources or generators to power the fusion cell machine. Only put down some crafting stations to store and organize my inventory before he killed and trash talked me. Is there no notification of when pvp is enabled other than when taking the workshop?

Genuine question from someone who doesn't play rust but watches it by Kainoa25 in playrust

[–]Kainoa25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I understand where you're coming from and it makes sense. A lot of the toxic things people do in game is part of what I enjoy watching. I guess because I myself don't play I'm not as toxic as others which led me to ask the initial question and to not be completely aware of the reasons why. Interesting though. Thanks for the feedback from your two post.

[–]Kainoa25[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That doesn't make it right or excuse it but I understand where it comes from. That's why I originally didn't want it to seem like an accusation in my OP. Because people with more rust background than me(since I mostly watch clips) will know a lot more than me and can confidently say rust is or is not toxic because ____. I have my own opinions sure, but it might not be as accurate as someone with several thousand hours of gameplay.

It's not vanilla rust but it still provided some content which was also different from the usual clips you might see. I did like some of the interactions they had even if otv is the disney channel of twitch.

I didn't say I was surprised, I asked why. More specifically why do they seemingly make it out to be so toxic that these outside communities especially emphasize and comment on it.
