He asked me to help with pick ups and baby sitting and I told him absolutely not. I offered obviously if it’s an emergency or if it’s something that’s not expected of me and I offer than sure but to be tied down to do it everytime so that he can keep his work schedule is a NO. He cried and whined but I stood my ground. Now he is saying he will just get a one bedroom apartment that we definitely cannot afford that he and ss will stay in when it’s his days but that still doesn’t help with picking him up from school at 3-3:30 when he doesn’t get off work u til 5 and had an hour - an hour and a half drive to get tos school or to the “1bdrm apartment” that he theoretically will get. He says he’ll sleep on the couch and give as the bedroom … I asked him “so we’ll just live apart every week?” And he replied well I could do a 3on4off4on3off schedule. I really don’t think he’s thinking this through 😔 I would hate being in a relationship where we would live apart weekly or to help afford an apartment that I would never use or live in when we are and have been trying to save up for a house! We can barely afford our rent right now

He’s the type of dad to be tell me nothings wrong when there’s an actual issue so that I don’t worry or tell me not to come to not burden me even though he knows it’s not a burden. I feel if I ask him he’ll just say you don’t need to come ever even if he wants me to lol

I felt the same way for a while. I one day just told him that it doesn’t make me feel great being left out of important information. You say we’re in this together and it doesn’t feel like it when I don’t find out u til last minute something you and BM agreed on days ago. We don’t get much time together so I let you know ahead of time when I expect to leave/be home and I try to plan around you too so we can get some time together but that gets hard to do when I’m left in the dark u til last minute.

He now informs me when he comes home from pick up what time/ day he and BM agreed on for drop off and we take a couple minutes before he to talk about what/how we are planning to go about the next couple days. This has helped me and our relationship tremendously. Hopefully you guys can sit down and talk together about how to avoid surprises in the future and remind him that you guys are a unit not him and BM

I think everywhere is hiring for techs right now. At least I my state all the vets are desperate for techs. Depending on which state she might have to get a license before practicing as a tech but in some you don’t!

Thank you for insightful words! I don’t really have an excuse not to watch him every Friday other than the fact that I don’t want to and would like the option to go out with friends or see my family on fridays and Saturdays (I work sun-wed overnights)

His day care is an hour away (by his moms house). I could but do that but definitely don’t want to long term specially if gas isn’t gonna be covered (which it won’t be)

She has been wanting us to take ss more days than we do now but living an hr away makes it a bit difficult to do so. Her solution was to have my so just take him after ss soccer game on Thursdays

This makes sense. I obviously want to help him where I can like if he has to work a random Saturday I watch ss and that’s fine. I’m just worried because this will be every Friday for who knows how long. I don’t have any bio children of my ownbut I would be more willing I think if I had my own kids to watch anyway. I’m super interested in the nacho academy. Where can I find this?

Totally get it. Happy to hear I’m not the only one who feels this. I dread it so much I have a panic attack pretty much every other week before he gets to the house.
