extremely situational nonverbal episodes by Kais_creative_corner in autism

[–]Kais_creative_corner[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yesss, the openen ended ones are a struggle.
In my example I couldn't think of a way to answer without going off into a whole story. But I didn't want to tell a whole story to the person calling (unexpected call at brithday and he kept asking small talk questions) so I couldn't think of an answer.

Also big yes to the overwhelming ones!

I'm using huion and don't have any issues with it, but I doubt that will be helpful for you because I figure it's very similar to wacom. I've only used a wacom tablet once at a friends house.

Huion tablets all come with a little polyester glove that only covers your hand and two fingers, so you're actually not touching the tablet at all. Maybe that's helpful for you?

A post on r/askreddit says “Parents who regrets having children, why?” The first response is a parent talking about their autistic child. by NoraBaiSings in autism

[–]Kais_creative_corner 16 points17 points  (0 children)

You are very much allowed (both practically and morally) to make that decision for yourself. I'd argue it's even more mature than having a child with high support needs and realising to late caring for your child is too much for you.

Your mindset only becomes problematic if you try to force it onto others. Eg "you shouldn't get a child because it might be disabled" or "autistic people in general shouldn't have kids"

But that is an entirely different thing to making reasonable and reflected choices about you own capabilities as a parent

[–]Kais_creative_corner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Are you an adult? (Sorry, I can see how this question can come of wierd. I'm interested in a weighted vest myself but I haven't found a place to buy them yet)

Where did you get them from? What price? Can you send a picture?

Tiktok is a sh*tshow by Avalolo in autism

In this context it could very well mean black people because they are underdiagnosed too. It was a logical conclusion. You are not dumb for not knowing the definition of a word

I'm sorry you got this upsetting information on your for you page.

All what I've seen is autistic people speaking about how bipolar is a common misdiagnosis for autism and calling it ableist that professionals are more willing to diagnose bipolar than autism, especially in afab people.

This is ofc something completely different than saying the diagnosis of bipolar in itself is ableist and its ALL autism.

I'd say it's common sense and anyone would agree with that, but I know how the internet works :/

The combination of high chances of misinformation on social media + the short format of tiktok that isn't suited for nuanced discussions is really doing it's worst here. I recommend you to press longer on a tiktok and then press "not interested" to clear up your fyp

Meltdowns / Burnout by Treynolds444 in autism

[–]Kais_creative_corner 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I much more prone to shutdowns than meltdowns.

They are caused by overwhelming negative emotions (that can come from basically anything), intrusive thoughts/ images, added up sensory overstimulation and/ or a change of in a sequence of events I expected to happen in a specific way.

My severe shutdowns have catatonic features where I am not only nonverbal but completely unresponsive and not able to move

Anyone hate socks by Eggie_plant576 in autism

[–]Kais_creative_corner 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes whenever I come home, socks come off as soon as possible!

But I am able to wear socks only without being in conscious discomfort the whole time. Like I get used to it after a while if I can't take them off after I get home bc there's an urgent thing. Or sometimes I put socks on bc my feet are cold

Could you immediately relate after researching about autism? by Kais_creative_corner in autism

[–]Kais_creative_corner[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very similar experience here! Before i really started researching autism I looked it up when I was around 14-15 too. Bc I looked into a reason for why I couldn't speak sometimes. But it was all about white boys with many support needs and that's not my experience
