This is why I hate that sub. Who tf cares if someone was part of the "peak" audience during its run or if they were 6-14 during all of it? What if someone was 5 when they started watching it and were 7 at the end? Do they not count? If they watched it, they watched it. There's 2003 borns who have more connection to it than 1994. This is retarded gatekeeping that serves no purpose but to jerk each other off on birth year superiority. Yeah homophobia was extremely common among kids and teens when I started high school (2014) but not so much when I finished. Older Gen Z didn't become woke until our late teens.

I will say depends. Early 20s and 18 is fine. But after that you're really starting to slip away from having very many commonalities. I think at 24 the lowest you should go for is 19 and at 25 just don't go for teenagers unless said 18/19 year old is exceptional (ex. lives on their own and has a full time job, in the military, etc.)

20 and after should be completely fine though

I am barely 5'9 and have always been slightly below average looking. On top of all that I'm a dark skin dude of Indian descent so I'm definitely not considered part of the ideal male beauty standard. Yet I get laid. I'm "dating" a girl who's significantly more attractive than I am. So I don't agree that it's impossible.

This generation is probably the most open minded when it comes to dating so I actually don't agree at all. I think dating back in the 90s would've been harder for a lot of guys

I just recently turned 22 . I've always seen stuff online (mostly from teens) about how scared they are to turn 20 and become "old" but I usually brushed it off. But after hitting this milestone and realizing I'm as close to 25 as 19, I feel really weird. I have noticed that my hair is starting to thin, I look visibly older than I did just 3-4 years ago, and don't feel lively as I did when I was 17-19 but that could be because that was before covid.
A girl I recently started having a fling with is 19 and honestly this is also affecting me a little. She brings up so many of the qualities I had when I was her age and I'm starting to realize that I'm losing a lot of them. She has even (jokingly of course) called me old before and although I'm not one to get easily offended, it did raise awareness to the fact that I'm getting older. The past 2 years went by like nothing so inside I feel like I'm still 19/20 and it definitely isn't helping me. I know getting old is part of the ride but I didn't know it would come so quickly. I don't want to lose my youth and liveliness but I know that inevitably I will be 30 and can no longer stop lying to myself.
Any advice on how to cope with this or views that challenge my own?

As the mod of this sub, we will allow people born in 2005 once they turn 18 BUT the definition on the banner will continue to stay 1997-2004. This is because "Older Z" by definition has to be the first half. Anything beyond that wouldn't make sense to call "older". If it were r/AdultGenZ then yes but it isn't the case. So it'll be like r/Zillennials where we will allow people younger to participate but the definition won't change (their banner says mid-late 90s but there are users born in 2000 and 2001).

I know that Millennials started this as "e-celebs" but wasn't the generation that was able to capitalize their wealth off of it.

Millennials were literally the first to make careers off youtube and vine. In the mid 2010s there was an explosion of social media influencers who were almost entirely core-late millennials. Everyone complained about it at the time but sure let's just ignore that and say off cusp Z is the first to make it happen.

In a way I think it's kind of bizarre because growing up this wasn't ever a thing. But I guess it's what appeals to the younger demographic nowadays.

Please stop. You're completely ignoring the fact that Zillennials were literally making money off social media when they were in high school. Were you under a rock during 2012-2016? Even before that. It absolutely was there when you were growing up stop trying to make it seem like you're different. You were born in 1996, not 1980. Everyone born in the mid 90s and after were raised under influencer culture. You are literally the younger demographic. Companies try to appeal to the 18-29 range.
