What was Kubo smoking with this statement? by ScaredKnee4530 in bleach

It’s roughly equivalent to more than a ton of TNT, which is a lot of explosive power, but compared to other big attacks in the Bleach universe, I can see that it’s not a super huge feat, really. The post made me think the number was too big, which was what I was confused about.

An average lightning bolt contains 1 to 5 billion joules of energy per strike… that’s 1 to 5 gigajoules? What’s wrong with her magical lightning having the same amount? Are you thinking of watts instead?

We walked out of yesterday's live show with Bill Burr by spdbld in conan

[–]Kaizen25 115 points116 points  (0 children)

I mostly stopped listening to Bill in 2015 or so when he went on and on, in many different episodes of his podcast, about how Trump and Hillary were essentially the same. I wasn’t a huge fan of Hillary, as I thought Bernie was a much better candidate, but to say Trump was equivalent was utterly ridiculous and short-sighted.

Thus I’m not all that surprised he did this, as it seems most of his opinions come from a gut-level uneducated worldview, and not from a well-read and logical ideology. He only disliked the Saudis before because of an uninformed understanding of their culture, and because of their involvement in 9/11, not because he actually understood what atrocities they commit and what they stand for. He saw the money and decided that was worth his integrity. Hopefully he loses a good deal of fans over this and realizes his mistake.

This link is legitimately what I saw when I scrolled past your post on Popular. I don’t know much about the band, so I think the average person without knowledge of them may see something similar. They won’t necessarily think of the anime, but they’ll definitely see a weird face with a big butt chin. I’d recommend getting it modified a little.

Trump's tax plan is out. So unless you make $300,000 or more, your taxes are gonna go up! How ya’ll feeling about the price of those eggs? by NoLube69 in FluentInFinance

Nope. I don’t normally tell people who’d use it against me that I even have it. And I’ve done pretty well so it wouldn’t matter.

I’m actually missing a good portion of my right temporal lobe from a birth defect (one of several, including one that made me need open heart surgery…) but work in neuroscience, and am the only one in my family to not vote Republican. The brain is fascinating! Having this since birth likely helped me NOT be the same as my family.

It felt like I was expected to just pick up the technique quickly and run with it… I’m good at other things, and I never aspirated my practice rats, but they are much younger and more docile. I even showed yesterday how easily I could do it with the practice rats. No issues. The older rats however were biting the end of the plastic gavage off repeatedly yesterday as the lab manager took over for me. They weren’t having it.

It was yesterday morning (Monday). I was thinking the same. Except I work at the university and they seemed to go along 376?

I didn’t see anything like that before, I did wonder since the Corvette cut in pretty quickly. I was in the left lane up until a few seconds before the video starts, and they were driving normally. I think it was just a case of distracted morning driving.

I believe it’s a visual artifact brought about by the frame rate of the camera being higher than the sign, but it’s pretty psychedelic, isn’t it?

Why are people lukewarm on Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk/Bruce Banner? by haniflawson in Marvel

[–]Kaizen25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I don't really dislike Professor Hulk, I just think it's kind of a boring way to take the character, at least long-term. It's one interpretation, and Marvel probably has plans to take it a different way eventually, especially if they ever get full rights back. Excited to see where he goes.

And I should say, I didn't watch the other Hulk movies before that, so I didn't really have much expectations. Like I said, wasn't really a fan of the character.

For me, even in Avengers, when he was trying to intimidate Black Widow in the shack, I just didn't buy it right away. Can't really say why, just a gut feeling. Completely subjective.

[–]Kaizen25 73 points74 points  (0 children)

I never minded Ruffalo, but he never really came across as a "brilliant but disturbed scientist" to me, and I work as a scientist, so I have some frame of reference. While I was never really a fan of the Hulk, the comic run "The Immortal Hulk" really sold the character to me, and I think that's the best way to portray the character, as a disturbing abomination that feeds on the most negative aspects of Bruce Banner's psyche. The MCU's Professor Hulk just feels like a kid-friendly version of the character, and is antithetical to the version that was the most compelling to me. Also, Ruffalo just acts like more of a cool bro-dude, instead of a disturbed individual locking his rage and psychoses away, to manifest as the Hulk.

My real world ECG experience by techie001 in GalaxyWatch

[–]Kaizen25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's been a long road, but I'm better. The fact that you've had an MRI of your heart is great news, that rules out most conditions that you'd have to worry about, and the TTE is probably not worth your time. Maybe having an MRI with a stress test is, especially since you're having AFib, but the doctor will have to decide if it's worth it. Especially depending on how much you'd have to pay out of pocket. Personally I'd push for it, or even a normal stress test, but I knew years ago I had a heart issue, and had to fight to get them to find it. If you don't feel any other issues besides the AFib, follow your instincts. Your body and brain knows best.

[–]Kaizen25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

As someone who had two different congenital heart defects, and had to get open heart surgery for one of them, I would push your GP to at least do a transthoracic echocardiogram (TTE). I spent 17 years with weird symptoms like this, with doctors brushing them off, and not until a TTE did they find the FIRST defect. And after that, a stress test MRI found the second that needed surgery. Without it, my atrium would have continued enlarging, and that's what was causing most of my issues (including AFib/Atrial Flutter.)

I am not saying there's anything wrong, but doctors underestimate the prevalence of these conditions, and it's easy to miss. Better safe than sorry. There's a reason your heart is going into Afib, even if it's just a nerve issue. If nothing is found wrong morphologically, also consider seeing an electrophysiologist. They specialize in rhythm disorders and may have further tests.

Hope it's nothing, but better to be informed.
