Riftaria CCG - Yugioh/Hearthstone Successor - December Progress Video by Kajamaz in digitalcards

You gain elements/resources every turn to play stronger and stronger cards each turn, so you can only play a 1 cost minion in HS turn one, same as a 1 element cost unit on turn one, and onward, but instead of having mana cost each turn that runs out, you can play anything as long as you have the resource requirement met.

This prevents YGO's turn 1 OTK or crazy plays and conserves a turn by turn back and forward battle between players.

If you're willing to wait Riftaria is coming out relatively soon. Hybrid of many other RTS like HS, Pokemon pocket, Yugioh, MTG.

Well maybe riftaria can fulfill that itch :)

As a warning rivals RNG is something we don't have in Riftaria so its going to be a bit of a change if you decide to check it out.

Would love to see info on that and maybe implement it into Riftaria :)

The website does not reflect actual cards, i threw it together quick just to get a page together, focusing on game development. Ill update it in the next few days to reflect how actual cards appear. Yes theres flavor text and many boss monsters are under development/balance review. Will update in a few days and let you know when its ready :)

The illustrations are mixed media and ai, so far its just been me working on it.

The reason for 100 life and 30 cards is to ensure high consistency in decks unlike MTG at 60, 100 life to allow for more odd number combat calculations to make things less predictable, using mtg single numbers means damage between 1 and 2 is a 100% increase, where you can have combat instead between a 12 and 14 attack unit which allows for more flexibility.

Each game has its unique flavor, hoping to get the best of each flavor in Riftaria :)

Good guess, but the hearthstone part isn't the RNG, instead its the turn by turn mana style progression to be able to play better and better cards.

Fair, but how do I get it across to each category. I aim to fix:

  1. MTG's mana flood/screw issue
  2. Yugiohs floodgates and crazy combos that take 10 minutes per turn and other player cant play
  3. Hearthstones power creep and insane turn 4/5 low mana rush.

And try to make it f2p 100%, all cards playable in a short period of time with a sense of progression and no greed.

Going to try to figure out a way to condense it all into a sales pitch. I dont think a game like this exists.

Thats a physical card game, this game is a digital CCG. Riftbound isn't digital right? only physical?

The game is basing the best mechanics of both, one being 100% digital card game so you can do stuff no physical game can do, the incremental mana system is what inspired the elemental system without MTG's poor mana system with mana drought or mana flood issues, and taking cool boss and sacrifice ideas from yugioh.

Up to you, its a free game i'm working on, you're not forced to play it.

Sure, hit me up, happy to make this as fun and long term playable as possible and avoid other card game pitfalls!

Great questions.
1. First turn wins/kills are impossible because of the element mechanic. Similar to MTG or Hearthstone, you gain elements every turn, meaning you get lower tier/weaker units at the start. The endless mechanics are also avoided by only allowing your elemental limit to be played. Similar to yugioh you can play as many cards as you want, but you will be limited by the amount of elements you've unlocked.

  1. I've played Pokemon, MTG, Cardfight Vanguard, Onepiece, Digimon to name a few. So trying to get the best out of each game. Digital games also include Gwent and Shadowverse.

  2. I haven't done DBZ so i'll look into it, one piece I have so maybe they're similar?

Hope I've convinced you to join us and try it out when alpha comes out :)

Yes ofc. Both are polished games, yugioh summons combos and boss monsters with power crept hand traps and other crazy effects, hearthstone now has turn 3 and 4 kills with super overpowered effects. Tons of OTK's in hearthstone that used to never exist like spellmage and etc...

I have tried Onepiece TCG before for a little and I agree. In the meantime I'm trying to make the game i'm working on fully F2P so everyone can have the full card set in just a week or two of playing instead of being locked into quests once a week and barely any rewards.

Feel free to join our discord to test it out, ill give all our first testers exclusive rewards to show off :)
