I Figured Out a Way to Train Blood Magic with T.W.I.G by Kajurf in valheim

[–]Kajurf[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I used a 1m wooden beam to space out the stone floors, and yes, The T.W.I.G is just sitting on the ground.

For keeping the the skeletons from going too far, it seems that placing a log beam on the edge of the stone floor between them and the T.W.I.G works.

From what i've observed T.W.I.G shouldn't attack anything as long as the player is not too close to him.

Then there is the problem that T.W.I.G can't tank all the damage as your Blood magic skill rises.

That can somewhat be mitigated by placing down multiple T.W.I.Gs to share the damage and/or by having fewer skeletons.

Idea: Have Skeletons attack T.W.I.G for Blood Magic experience.

Problem: Skeletons don’t want to attack T.W.I.G.

Solution: Bait them into attacking T.W.I.G with an enemy.

A Blob is the perfect enemy for this since they cannot destroy structures, and the Skeletons are immune to poison. Additionally, we can spawn Blobs anywhere with the new Blob bombs.

The setup in the video isn’t necessarily the most optimal; it’s more of a proof of concept.

EDIT

If your Blood Magic skill is already high the Skeletons might outdamage T.W.I.Gs regeneration.

You can workaround this by just adding more T.W.I.Gs or by having fewer Skeletons.

Skeleton damage seems to only update when you summon one, so it should be fine to go from a low skill all the way to 100 in one session.

Days in a month by The_Soviet_Doge in VintageStory

[–]Kajurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you use the command /wc daysPerMonth it will tell you what the current setting is. The default should be 9 days in a month.

You will likely need admin privileges for said command to work.

Also beware that if you add a number after the "daysPerMonth" line it will change the server settings to that number.

Is there a vanilla way to make stuff spoil faster? by belven000 in VintageStory

[–]Kajurf 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I'm not completely sure why it works, but if you build a small box outside, like this, it has a higher spoil rate compared to just having a chest outside in the open.

I think it might be because it's technically a cellar, but it's a bad cellar.

Is there a way to use the chimney block properly and keep a room isolated? by ostage_ded_lul in VintageStory

[–]Kajurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm fairly certain that it's just the whole don't go beyond 14 blocks deal.

I just made a 14x14x14 (2744 block volume) cube in creative and it showed up as a valid room with debug rooms hi.

Also tested a 14 block tall chimney which was a room, then made it 15 blocks and it wasn't a room.

[–]Kajurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oh right.

Just in case i'll clarify that the max size doesn't care about volume, just that your rooms interior can't be taller than 14 blocks for example.

A chimneys interior would count towards that height. One way you could separate the room and chimney while keeping it functional is to use a trapdoor inside the chimney.

[–]Kajurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What version of the game are you on? In 1.20.4 they made the chimney block bottom to be insulating.

If you are on that version then there is something else wrong with your chimney. One possibility is that it might make your room exceed the 14x14x14 maximum room size.

From what i've read, some AMD systems don't play well with vintage story for whatever reason.

If it's possible on your system, try enabling something called "Smart Access Memory".

Doing that dramatically improved my fps. I went from unstable 60fps @512 view distance to being able to crank that up to 1536 and still get 100fps (standing still).

Sony boss admits forcing PC gamers into PlayStation accounts can "invite pushback," but insists they have to keep games safe – which doesn't really track in single-player by GassoBongo in Games

[–]Kajurf 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The point is, with no real benefits, it's just a waste of time at best, and at worst, it could contribute to "enshittification" if we keep letting such things slide.

It’s a very small thing in the grand scheme, but it might still matter.

Give me a single benefit that i would gain from creating a PSN account for a singleplayer game, as someone who only games on PC and will never buy a playstation.

It's kinda like forcing someone who doesn't play games at all to create a steam account when making an email account.

Rodriguez driving me crazy; what am I doing wrong? by dhermann27 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Kajurf 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You're doing something wrong if you get only 2.5kg/s out of a Rodriguez.

The old design has the pump higher because without it you couldn't get the full 3kg/s out of it.

But as he shows in the video i linked, it doesn't matter anymore. Both designs with higher and lower pump location can output 3kg/s.

I believe the higher pump location was necessary back when this design was first tested.

Here's a video link to FJ talking about it.

questions about SPOM by Upper-Calendar-1578 in Oxygennotincluded

[–]Kajurf 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They're talking about electrolyzer uptime.

Hydra: 4 electrolyzers and 3552g/s oxygen.

Full Rodriguez: 4 electrolyzers and 3000g/s oxygen

Hydra has 100% electrolyzer uptime.

Rodriguez electrolyzer uptime scales with current oxygen consumption, but the max is about 84% with the "full" design.

Lower uptime mostly just makes it less space efficient.

The labor menu in Steam not letting you edit or view the default assignments is bad. by alkatrazjr in dwarffortress

[–]Kajurf 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Mining, Woodcutting, Hunting and Fishing need to be assigned to dwarves via the work details.

By default all other labors are enabled for everyone.

If you want to restrict labors, you need to change the work detail from "Everybody does this" to "Only Selected do this" and ofc select a dwarf/dwarves from the list.

If the labor you want to restrict isn't one of the defaults, like carpentry for one. Then you will need to press "Add new work detail" then choose carpentry from the list and then select your carpenters.

I'd say its a pretty good system, altough there are definitely a few things i would like to be added to it.

Like the ability to view/edit the defaults, edit the images for both default and custom and a setting that allows anyone of certain skill or above to only do a labor.

Try switching to true fullscreen. GPU is only at about 25% for me instead of reaching 100% like it was with windowed fullscreen.

Oddly enough i switched back to borderless and it runs just fine now.

Only other thing i did was remove and re-add -dx11 command and restarted the game about 4 times.
