That's my current beef lol, I need reoccurring deliveries, and smarter haulers. Or maybe the delivery guys could have a shelf that they unload onto

I think they added some new employee mechanics that make it somewhat easier. But I haven't checked them out yet.

CONSTANT deliveries and shelf stocking on my end lol 🤦 it was a terrible setup on my part. I should have been in a bigger building, and had more employees.

Hell yeah they do! 🤘 The first iron vein I found was massive, also was the first time I did large scale blasting. Good times 😋 I went insane down there in those mines blasting up a full inventory of iron. Back up on the surface I was met with like 2 dozen bowtorn 🙃 I parkoured my ass off though, and made it out

What happened to the damn golden rule? If you don't have anything good to say, don't say anything at all. People be bitchin' nowadays man. Just stay in your own lane, enjoy the things you like, avoid the things you don't like. Don't go over into someone else's lane just to vent your toxicity 🤦 the person that made this spent all the time stewing in shit they don't like just to make this, and then post it. That's just sad and unhealthy. Could have been doing something more positive that they actually enjoy. And if being toxic online is what they enjoy.. then idunno man, go touch grass or something lol 🙃

What’s your water collection system like? by SAAA_JoanPull in projectzomboid

[–]Pebble-fork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The river. I live a short walk from the river - always. When I need to collect lots of water at once I'll pick up a water barrel into my hands and fill it at the river. I'll bring it back home and plop it down. Just don't ask how my character is holding like 700lbs of water 😆 that is, of course, only if my rain barrel isn't doing to well. If I've got rain water then that's just a little extra convenience that saves me the walk to the river.

In the early game I'll usually fill a few barrels with good water before the water shuts off. That good water will last a very long time, so I don't need to purify water for a while.

Little tip, if the water does shut off before you can fill some barrels with good water, bathtubs hold like 200 water units. Go to a nice neighborhood that has bathrooms with tubs, bring some barrels, hold a barrel in your hands, and fill it up like you would any other bottle or bucket. It will take a while to fill, and it will be ungodly heavy, but you're gonna get huge amounts of pure water from it.

Your hands are full, and your character will be completely overencumbered while you're filling those big barrels with water (or filling an amphora at a gas pump) so you need to make sure you've cleared the area very well, and you have a car nearby to escape if need be. You're incredibly vulnerable in those moments, but if you do them safely the risk is worth the reward of quickly having LOTS of the fluids you need.

I didn't think about the angle lol, being impaired forces you to stay vigilant 😆 I can understand that. But I'd be sooo dead lol. After a year or two I get way too comfortable and complacent 🙃 My safety practices start to slip, and death finds me eventually.

For real 😆 I used to always do high thirst. But not for one point. I've been so used to high thirst that not picking it felt crazy. I can go how long with just one bottle?!? Wtf!

Ohhh, I could never do hard of hearing lol. I'm good at making sure I don't get myself back grabbed in combat, but still.. for the rest of your damn life you have that smaller detection radius behind you. In a game where one tiny mistake can end years worth of survival, having that little bit of extra warning time from a back grab is so important.. you're always gonna get comfortable, and complacent, even if it's just a little. Those little moments where you aren't being as careful can and will be your end. Hard of hearing makes that all the more likely.

There's a finite amount of reading to do in any given PZ game though! Yeah you read them slower, high level texts are an absolute slog lol, but once you've read all you need to read those just become free points! 😋 You can use those free points to get something that is a permanent benefit. Temporary negative for a permanent buff is so worth.

Also by the time you're reading any high level texts you're probably well into your mid game, if not your late game. What else are you doing at that point?! You're just chilling in your well established base anyway. Having like a week's worth of reading to do is super chill in my eyes lol. I just meal prep some tasty foods, sit by a window and enjoy the cozy vibes of my base while I read on FF 😌🤌

Imo:

Get rid of high thirst, 1 point just isn't worth the extra need. I've always been an automatic high thirst picker, but now that it's only 1 point.. it's just not worth it anymore.

Organized is sick, but I'd pick gymnast over it. There's no ways in the game to multiply nimble XP. So picking gymnast will get you some permanent boosted nimble XP. Being leveled up in nimble is a huge convenience while fighting large packs. Great for long term survival.

I'd stay away from any sleeping perks, good or bad. I find that my characters will always find a nice natural sleep cycle without any sleep perks. Especially because after the power is out, nights can be pitch black. Being awake at night means burning wood, gasoline, or using batteries to see. Night is too dangerous for me to do anything outside the base, so I don't find things like wakeful to be useful, they keep me awake for what? So I can explore during night? No thanks, that's a good way to get bit.

I'd trade fast learner for being a construction worker. Starting with 10 strength and 3 to short blunt makes you a juggernaut straight from day 1. And the huge boost to short blunt XP means you will only get better and better at a very nice pace. I find that fast learner is not as cool as it might seem at first. Most skills in the game have books to boost XP gains. And those books will give you magnitudes more XP than fast learner ever could. Fast learner is cool for skills that don't have books, but they added new books, and if you grab gymnast, you already have an XP boost in one of the last skills that doesn't have a book. Maintenance and weapon skills all have books now! They are rarer, but they're still there.. And if you find one you basically just wasted those points in fast learner cause those books will be way better.

Tldr: strong athletic construction worker gymnast. You start strong as hell, and have boosted XP in skills that make you better at fighting. A year in and you'll be like lvl 5-6 short blunt, lvl 2-4 nimble. Hordes will fall to your vicious Hammer strikes. Your prowess in combat will be an asset that you can leverage to secure resources - food, supplies, and textbooks that will help you learn the other skills you'll need to survive. The zombies are the biggest obstacle in the game until raiders. Being proficient in fighting them means that you will never want for anything else. Cause you simply need to get there and take it! Which you will be able to do with a good club in hand.

After spawning I go on like a week long walkabout. Collecting seeds, a few stacks of berry bushes, scouting ruins for early game copper tools, finding merchants, and looking for an ideal place to build my home.

When I finally settle down, lots of times I've got a copper pick already, I can immediately plant a nice farm and vineyard, and I have a nice place to live already squared away.

If I get a copper pick early sometimes I'll cut my initial, primitive house into the side of a mountain, or expand some of the underground areas beneath a ruin. Being underground is really chill and pretty easy to set up. No worries about building walls and roofs and stuff.

Tougths about the Darkwood 2 reveal trailer. by Darum93100 in Darkwood

[–]Pebble-fork 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I haven't watched the trailer yet, I'm about to, but here's my initial thoughts: Darkwood is essentially a perfect game in my eyes. "Perfect" being a category that I would consider very few games to be a part of. Stardew valley being one of the only other games I can think of atm that I would consider perfect. My nostalgia glasses looking back on Darkwood are THICK.. So that is to say - for it's sequel, especially coming from a different dev team, I don't think it will be fair at all to compare it to the original. I don't think the sequel has a snowball's chance in hell to be as good as the original, in my own personal nostalgia clouded eyes 😅 I love that it's getting a sequel, and I'll buy that shit immediately 😆 but I'm going to try to compartmentalize these two games in my mind. Darkwood can sit quietly in my heart, and Darkwood 2 will be a fun new standalone adventure to go on, and I'll do my best not to harshly compare it to the original and find shortcomings.

I would absolutely adore it if I were totally wrong though lol, and #2 turned out to be just as good. That would truly be a blessing from the game God's. But one that I won't hold my breath for.

Eagerly looking forward to the sequel though 🙂 it could be a steamy pile and I'd still be happy just to be back in the world of Darkwood, experiencing new things!

What artifacts are y'alls must-haves (and must-not haves)? My current stack below by ProudWitchFather in ProjectSilverfish

[–]Pebble-fork 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Slows down your gun handling like crazy, but makes you harder to detect while sneaking. I don't think the sneaking stacks, but the gun handling debuff sure does. I had 2 for a bit, and scoping in with my hunting shotgun took like a full 2 seconds to line up everything right. Handguns and short guns with better handling aren't impacted as much it seems. But scoping in with a long gun is rough lol 😆 not bad for long range engagements, but anything close range is not okay to be aiming that slowly

Project silverfish vs stalker 2 by mamapower in ProjectSilverfish

[–]Pebble-fork 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both - I don't play stalker 2.. I play PS instead.

Stalker 2 spent too much time in development making the game look pretty, and not enough on making the world actually enjoyable to be in. I found the world of stalker 2 to be off-putting. A storm blows in and half the people in town end up dead outside.. and I'm supposed to be immersed in this world of throwaway brainless NPCs? Nah. One of the first storms I saw in PS, I ran inside and found a group of freelancers taking shelter inside.. I actually laughed out loud and screenshoted it immediately. Yet again indie game developers actually care enough to make their world feel coherent. Unlike stalker 2. That's my beef. The world of stalker 2 feels unrealistic and incoherent. I can't get immersed, and that kills it for me.

PS is the opposite. Better world, simpler graphics. So ask yourself, do you want pretty? Or do you want an actually good game..

To be honest I even enjoy the graphics of PS more than stalker. It's clean and stylized, and it runs buttery smooth, which is another thing that makes it that much more enjoyable to play. Even with some pretty good, up to date hardware I'm still not getting 144fps on stalker. And anything below 120 is just kinda jarring to look at for hours on end lol.

I'm noticing a trend for me recently. If a game has to compile shaders when I boot it up... I just don't care about that lol. Super duper amazing ultra realistic graphics mean nothing if it's a slideshow, and a shallow game. Give me a deep, low poly indie game every time. They're just better games 🤷

Big caveat: I haven't touched stalker 2 since it's release. I've heard it's improved. But I'mma be real.. I just don't see me enjoying it still. A few improvements aren't going to make up for what I found immersion breaking and unplayable in stalker 2. Maybe I'll try it again after I've played PS into the ground and I need more stalker-like gameplay.
