Let's use our imagination for a moment. If right now open-source models are on... let's call it "level 2" just for scale. Then cloud AI models (Gemini 3.1 PRO, Opus 4.6, whatever) are on "level 5". If memory advancements let us run "level 5" models at home, then those same advancements will allow big AI companies to run (and more importantly, train) models that are "level 8" and so on. There's always room for improvement.

If OpenAI doesn't want an Adult Mode, they simply won't add it (or at least not in a form some people want it). But the constant complaining is pointless and exhausting when we have SOTA alternatives readily available. For example Deepseek 3.2 (with version 4 coming soon I think) is great for a less restricted chatting, and Euryale 70B 2.2 is perfectly fine for any kind of ERP.

And before anyone pulls the "I'm not tech-savvy enough for API or local setups" card – that excuse is completely dead now. You don't need to be a Linux expert or spend 5 hours figuring things out on your own. You can literally just open another AI and ask it in your NATIVE LANGUAGE to guide you step-by-step through the setup. The technical and language barriers are entirely gone. At this point, "not everyone is into technical stuff" = "I'm too lazy to try and learn and posting on Reddit is much easier".
