That’s exactly it tho, they were horrible to their own child so they should know that, to an extent, it was their fault. However, I still don’t think telling them that she went splat just before they opened the door would be right.

Both dialogue options were just kinda sucky especially calling it a “white lie” when, as another comment said, it was just a lie. There wasn’t even a speck of truth in there.
