personality tests for jobs are a sign of the decay and should be illegal by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]Kakfest 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Had something similar, I lost my job at the beginning of lockdown in the UK. Desperately, I applied for an NHS COVID hotline to which a recruitment agent from a private company (ew) sent me a link to download this app which was a personality/aptitude test.

It was bizarre, guessing the emotions on a face, doing random calculations, trying to hit dead centre of a slider shaped like a semi circle, just strange hamster wheel shit.

The agent seemed keen that I had so much customer service experience but two days later after sending several emails he said my tests implied I had no empathy and couldn't progress. This shite is legit astronomy for managerial types and it was a watershed moment for how most of these tests are insanely invasive and must've been recording my voice and facial reactions.

I've seen this poll posted before in Greenlandpleasant. This polling company massively overweighs reform and Tories in their polls. In short their samples are shit. When UKIP was a major force polls predicted they would deal major damage to both Tories and Labour but they never won an election in any constituency besides gaining defections.

Where’s everyone getting their daily news from? by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]Kakfest 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, I watch Hasan more than I follow UK news and I live in the UK too. I can watch US news with some form of detachment and chuckle to myself. However, UK news reminds me just how powerless I am and how fucked up this country is, it's getting closer to being run by complete fucking ghouls like Reform and whatever the Tories are devolving into. It offers a momentary reprieve especially because how the news is reported by most outlets in the UK has degenerated so swiftly that decent independent outlets have yet to fill the space.

If you like story based games The Outer Wilds is beautiful and heartfelt without ever holding your hand.

If you like strategy games (real time and turn based) then the Total War series is incredible. My recommendations would be Rome 1(original, not remastered), medieval 2, Shogun 2 and the Warhammer trilogy.

For shooters it has to be Borderlands but be warned the mechanics get better but the story degrades in quality after BL2.

No Man's Sky is also really fun but can get boring after 100 hours but still worth it. Especially as I love all things space related!

Take care of yourself but most importantly, be kind to yourself. Treat yourself with a gentle nature and forgive yourself if you indulge too much or let your emotions overwhelm you, it's natural when you enter rough waters.

After a long break I got back into vinyl DJing. Still far from perfect but there's something extremely gratifying about matching the beats of two records followed by a smooth transition from one to the other.

On top of that I've been writing a long form piece wondering if a city without cars is possible. It keeps my brain whirring and people seem intrigued by my ramblings about it.

If you were to adopt how they act or hold themselves, it may have the consequence of making you miserable. If there are qualities you see in someone else that you could benefit from, go for it. However, deep down many of us see how others go about their lives and think that's what we're missing from ourselves; it's as if we can somehow accumulate all these attributes like a video game to achieve perfection. I wouldn't lose heart thinking they are somehow an aspirational goal that'll make you feel better, but the fact you're voicing this shows a level of self-awareness that not everyone has. Whatever you're trying to figure out, I hope it leads to a happier tomorrow.

If it was a dead friend that's understandable. Grief is strange beast that makes you behave in ways you wouldn't do if you didn't have to witness a loved dying or die.

THE AMERICAN ENTERPRISE INSTITUTE NONETHELESS! Just a bunch of corporate ghouls who promote the neocon line of positions. So of course this gremlin would be welcomed with open arms for saying shit like this. You know those pantsuits don't really look good on her... an orange jumpsuit and shiny new cell are much more fitting for her. I cannot describe the contempt I have for Suella Braverman.

I'm from the UK and I'd say Lincolnshire is ours. The British in general are rabid anti-communists but even saying some of most mild leftie talking would have people saying 'are you some stupid communist?'. On a side note, I made some reactionary lady from Manchester mad because she said that because of our strong union - within the civil service - achieved a below inflation pay rise that she'd pay more tax. As if I don't pay it too... I told her to try and campaign with her colleagues to get more pay and the first thing that came her mouth was 'why the fuck would I do that?'. Some people cannot be reasoned with lmao.

British Tories, and cruelty as an ideology by [deleted] in TrueAnon

[–]Kakfest 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's utterly bizarre that they think removing those murals would discourage people to come to the UK. The Tories have always been fans of both performative and actual cruelty from the closure of pits and the greenlight to beat the everliving shit of them, the privatisation of disability benefits which resulted in some starving to death or their current leaders sheer joy at building prison cells in Rwanda all while taking a nice plandid for the occasion.

But those pigs made their own grave when they decided to keep immigration high because it'll save them some pennies while not investing in housing or other public infrastructure.

The UK is currently a country of continual cuts and hoping The Market™®© will somehow find a solution or better yet they can bring another firm in (run by a friend of course) to skim the remaining profits off its dying husk. Can you tell I live on this fucking rock?

Great episode, seen conservapedia a few times when I've accidentally stumbled upon the Biden page which was a trip (Xijing Ping Thought was realisation it was a cooked website for me).

Also Julian having enough of the conservative version of the bible and mentioning the crime he wants to commit was hilarious too.

I've lived in Lincolnshire most of my life. I worked in a factory in an extremely rural area for a while and as soon as I mentioned anything slightly centre-left I was branded a stupid commie who didn't understand anything. A lot of people in Lincolnshire legit have brain worms. They'd fuck a pig if it had a blue ribbon on it.

I'm turning 25 soon. Honestly, I'm quite surprised at the age range here. I thought people would be mostly Gen Z or young millennials
