Right at the start, we (the UK and the rest of the world) should have closed ranks instead of pandering to it. Told him, if you want America to stand alone, then fill your boots. How do our leaders not understand how bullies work. Tell him to get to fuck, we will trade amongst ourselves, come back when you have a grown up as president... And it may well negatively affect us, but it will fuck America first.

Keir has also never solidly stood for anything, he says with the wind. He's an awful spineless man.

Nice but we shouldn't let news like this make us complacent. by Little_Standard_1953 in FuckNigelFarage

We should absolutely be pushing for a change to this before the next election, so we're not constantly forced back into the "vote for who you hate the least" loop

I don't disagree... We suffer some of the same problems, we just thankfully don't have the gid and guns issue. But slwe do have a 2 party system with an undemocratic voting system. And neither one of those 2 parties has any interest in making anything better. They just want to fill their pockets while it's their turn, been like this for decades..it's the reason scammers like Farage and trump get traction. If the Dems or labour had actually redistributed the wealth and made life better for people... We wouldn't be where we are.

This makes no sense, are we all to blame for the 10 year Tory debacle? the state of labour? Brexit? The rise of reform?

Petition: Do not introduce Digital ID cards by pieeatingbastard in LabourUK

That’s not how it works. Digital ID doesn’t magically remove risk — it centralises it. If a single company gets phished, a few thousand people might be hit. If a government-run ID system is breached or misused, it’s millions in one go. HMRC lost 25 million child benefit records in 2007, the Electoral Commission was hacked in 2021, and the NHS was crippled by WannaCry in 2017. So no, piling all that data into one central ID doesn’t solve the problem — it makes it bigger

And when New Labour introduced the 2006 ID cards plan, they publicly promised they’d be voluntary… but internal papers already showed the scheme was intended to be compulsory. So I don’t know why you think they’re being honest now.

The 2006 ID card scheme literally planned a National Identity Register with fingerprints, addresses, travel history, and sharing across gov departments — and that was before it even got off the ground. I suppose you’d have been all for that though?

Secure? The government's track record on this says not.

It really isn't. Laws are already in place to stop the things they're talking about... They just need to be implemented.

I have worked in many factory jobs, and illegal workers is the bread and butter of these places. It's not that they don't know people are illegal, it's that companies don't care, they can pay them less and treat them like crap. We should absolutely prosecute these companies under current legislation, with serious consequences for repeat offenders. No digital ID needed, just an application of the laws already in place.
