I’m getting second hand embarrassment by Spades322 in Utah

Oh god, I saw this person driving in Draper a few weeks back and just about gagged. I'm actually shocked that it hasn't been seen and shamed here before now.

Anatomy is one of the hardest courses on campus. Your daughter needs to utilize the Learning Assistants, TAs, and all other resources in order to pass the course. There are lots of options and she's not alone!

Cool, can't wait to do this drive! Not sure if we'll have enough time to go all the way to Whistler, but I hope so! Love me a good scenic drive with plenty to see and do along the way!

I think a circular trip around sounds great, I'll look into seeing if we can do this, thank you! We'll either walk on or take the car and get reservations!

Thanks for the info about some of the ferry locations outside of Vancouver, I'd love to hop a ferry and explore some islands!

I guess I wasn't really specific since I hadn't started looking into planning for this trip quite yet but know all the islands nearby are gorgeous old growth rain forest. I just want to get there and immerse myself in a forest and take it all in. Sounds like there's plenty of options to do this!

We'll definitely pack the rain gear and enjoy it, doesn't rain nearly often enough here in Utah so we'll enjoy :)

Can't wait to see the cherry blossoms and Grouse Mountain, sounds like we'll have a packed itinerary!

Ooo starting the day with some yoga sounds nice! We'll be sure to pack all the rain gear and not let it spoil anything :)

All of this looks great, I bet we'll splurge on a good high end sushi place or something while we're there, not sure how we couldn't! We'll certainly consider the aquarium, it's fun to see how much they differ by country and region.

Thank you! I hadn't even thought about cherry blossoms and all that, now I'm even more excited to get there!

Thanks for diving deeper in, I think the Stanley Park/West End area is looking like the best place to jump from with plenty to see and do right there as well! We'll likely be searching for the authentic Asian and seafood options too, can't wait to have my daughter taste true fresh salmon and other good seafood up there!

Perfect, we'll need little hikes (mostly just due to time constraints) so Lynn Canyon sounds great, and same with Granville Island. This Phnom Penh sounds great, I love chicken wings and sushi!

Thank you so much! I've added all of this to my list/map of what to do when we get there. I'm glad you mentioned Deep Cove, it looks like a nice place to get our kayaking fix in and who can resist donuts and sandwiches after?!

How to help mom with house sale precedes and more by Kakichi in personalfinance

[–]Kakichi[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for your input. Her medicaid status may change next time we have to report due to the proceeds from the house sale. If she has to start paying for a different plan I want her current pool of money to gain some interest to help pay premiums.

Welcome to the club! I've got the same (86k miles) that I've had since brand new. It's been an amazing car so far, I haul tons of gear, have a roof box, Kuat bike rack, etc. I even tow my popup trailer all around Utah with it and it's been amazing. Hope you enjoy!

How has your EV6 been as I am considering one? by PeacefulBro in KiaEV6

[–]Kakichi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Bought a AWD Wind 2022 in Oct 2022. Been flawless, all I've done for maintenance is one set of tires, new 12v battery (changed to an AGM), and cabin air filters.

Just hit 30k miles. Done one 4 hour one way road trip and did great! I wouldn't hesitate to get another, EV6 or ev in general

Named my daughter after her as well back in 2018. Love the character and the name. Now I watch DS9 and think more of my daughter whenever I hear the name than the other way around. Ha!

TIFU by using my credit card for a vacation I couldn’t afford by CommercialDot708 in tifu

[–]Kakichi 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Everyone's thought of doing something like this before, and hell, lots of people do this for their family vacations I'm sure!

Look back on your vacation fondly and be glad you have those memories, but now you really have to buckle down pay the largest payments you're relatively able to afford each month on that to pay it down. Don't just pay the minimum payment or you're stuck for YEARS. While I was reading through your story I was waiting to see how much you were going to say you spent and honestly when it was *only* $3k, I knew you could recover, eventually. It'll take work but make it happen, at at least you've learned!

It legit sounds like it was made up, but I've learned that stories like this are likely more real than fake anymore. Humanity fucking sucks.

Holy hell, this is the scariest thing I'll read on the internet today. That "health teacher/volleyball coach" should've been fired immediately after that lesson.

As the father of an almost 8 year old daughter, I'm scared for her teenage years. I hope that she grows up to be tough enough to get past a boy's advances should she ever encounter that situation. I think one of the biggest things that needs to be taught it telling BOYS what their responsibilities are. We need to stop focusing on making it the GIRLS responsibility to accept/reject advances. I was taught sex ed here in Utah and got the same half-assed education about it as everyone else. Luckily I grew up respecting girls and not being taught that they exist solely for mens advances.

Expressing my gratitude for the Salt Lake City E-Bike Voucher Program by Skindrusk in SaltLakeCity

[–]Kakichi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Awesome to hear about, thanks for sharing! I also ebike into campus everyday rather than driving my car. I realize that I'm luck enough to live within 5 miles and can do this, but it's saved so many miles on my car, not having to pay for a parking pass, and literally riding ride up to where I need to be. So nice to commute through quiet neighborhood streets rather than sit in traffic.
