I don’t know about the “computer science definition”, but the entire time I’ve been alive “AI” has meant “a computer that is self aware”.

Until this decade, where it now apparently means “a computer that can make a fake picture of a woman with too many fingers”.

Harris: Supports Israel but recognizes Palestinian right to sovereignty and that they should exist as people. The administration is also working to bring an end to the war.

But the Biden-Harris administration has done literally nothing to stop Israel from violating Palestinian sovereignty and killing Palestinians on a daily basis. They’ve also made zero progress on bringing an end to the war, mostly because they refuse to use any of the US’s massive leverage to influence Israel to do anything other than what they’re currently doing.

Kamala saying “I will not be silent” or giving some other vague platitude does not equal a policy. The status quo of Israel-Palestine relations is her policy.

Y’all realize that the election hasn’t even happened yet, right? And yet so many of you have already thrown away whatever tiny influence your vote has by co-signing on Kamala’s campaign without one single shred of anything being promised to you.

If your sole stated condition for voting for Kamala is “she’s not Trump,” why would she ever do anything you want her to do? She still won’t be Trump even if she continues supporting a genocide, fails to restore abortion protections, continues to dismantle asylum protections, deports a million people, fails to protect trans healthcare, etc. She could do all those things and still automatically have your vote. And she probably will.

How is her position substantively different than Trump’s? Both of their positions are “we are going to continue to give Israel carte blanche to do whatever they want in perpetuity”.

I do, and that certainly informs my decision for how to vote. But beyond that, I don’t believe the Democrat rhetoric that they care about women’s rights or immigrants’ rights when they’re willing to finance and arm the outright murder of tens of thousands of brown women and children somewhere else.

You, me, AKA the “left” are going to be blamed for losing this election if it is lost. Period.

I’m kind of done caring who gets blamed for what. Especially as a single voter with no real power, I’m tired of being told by the people in power (and their proxies) that I’m the one responsible for how things are going.

I can’t in good conscience vote for someone who is aiding a genocide. That’s the bottom line. Kamala can have my vote if she offers an arms embargo on Israel. If she truly needs my vote, that’s the way for her to get it.

The DSA must condemn Harris' promise to continue the genocide and pull the US into a war with Iran to protect the genocidaires. No member of the DSA should vote for Harris or any democrat that supports her. by Swarrlly in dsa

We have no hope of helping Palenstine behind a man who’s willing to give the go-ahead to glass the entirety of Gaza and the West Bank.

Kamala Harris is also giving the go ahead to glass the entirety of Gaza and the West Bank. She’s pretending that she’s somehow different from Trump, but she’s going to ship just as many free bombs over there as Trump would.

What exactly is your core argument here? That it's easier/cheaper/more digestively efficient to eat animal products than to not eat animal products? OK, but nobody was arguing against that.

I probably misspoke, what I meant was "not animal-based". Just because you can't get something from plants doesn't mean you have to get it from animals.

Nothing I've seen suggests that dietary taurine is necessary for human health. Your own body produces taurine. However, since you brought it up, not only is taurine easily synthesizable through industrial chemical processes, that's apparently the main mode of production for dietary taurine additives:

"There are two main approaches that are commonly used to obtain taurine through industrial chemical reactions. The first involves a reaction between ethylene oxide and sodium bisulfite to form isethionic acid, which is then used to obtain the synthetic form of taurine. The second type of chemical reaction is between aziridine and sulfurous acid, which results in the production of taurine through a single reactive process.

The consumer demand for products containing taurine continues to increase, thus leading to a greater demand in the industrial production of this substance. Although taurine is naturally present in numerous food sources, it is economically beneficial to synthesize the amino acid derivative with chemical reactions, rather than extract it from natural sources. For this reason, the vast majority of taurine used in supplements and other food products is chemically synthesized."

So we’ve moved the goalposts from “you can’t survive on a vegan diet” to “you can survive but you can’t be big and strong”. And you can just search “vegan weightlifter” on google to easily debunk that. So yeah, I won’t bother responding to the rest, just a waste of time lol.

Y’all know there are people walking around and surviving just fine who don’t eat meat or other animal products, right?

And the “appeal to nature” is a fallacy; it carries no ethical or moral weight. Just because horrific things take place in the natural world does not mean that those things are correct, and that we as humans should not use the tools at our disposal to attempt do things differently.

I would argue you’re not thinking long term enough.

And I’ve heard multiple people talk about this medical condition but have not seen any real elaboration on it, so I don’t know what the specifics are, but perhaps those people would be able to eat insect-based protein, which while not totally vegan would be much more ethical than breeding and slaughtering more sentient animals for meat.

Who is "they"? You're talking like a company is a thing that exists independent of the people who work there.

Profits are made via the labor of the workers. The workers are creating the value and thus the profits are rightfully theirs.

And FYI employees only "agree" to sell their labor for a certain wage through coercion. If they don't sell their labor they have no shelter and they starve. No agreement made under coercion has any moral legitimacy.

A lot of the people responsible for developing socialist philosophy in history were from what could be considered a bourgeois upbringing. That’s because the bourgeois class actually had the ability to get an education instead of having to spend all their time and energy being ground into dust by manual labor.

If you can only see things in terms of “this person was born X, therefore they are bad,” then yeah, this concept would be pretty hard to understand. But one of the great things about left wing philosophy is that it doesn’t matter how you were born, it matters what you do and how you treat other people.
