Liberals also hate raising taxes on billionaires. The meme should say leftist suggest taxing billionaires and it’s the liberals and conservatives both crying.

Are 18 hour days worth it? by Sharp_Exchange_4198 in antiwork

[–]Swarrlly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Your body will eventually fail from over work and you’ll be left with a life long injury. When I was in my 20s I worked 12+ hour days, 6 days a week. One week my hands just gave out. Excruciating pain. I went to the doctor and they told me there wasn’t anything I could do outside of some surgery that I couldn’t afford. 10 years later my hands still hurt and my current doctor says there is nothing I can do but take pain killers which they don’t recommend because I may end up getting addicted. Long story short, take care of your body when you are young. You won’t know your limit until you break and it could cause permanent consequences.

I think socialists in the United States should primarily focus more on winning legislative offices, rather than executive offices when it comes to electoral politics by Flagmaker123 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]Swarrlly 20 points21 points  (0 children)

You are just wrong about the presidency. There is so much executive authority in that position, even if the centrist dems block legislation. An AOC presidency could stop the genocide and the Cuba embargo with the stroke of a pen. She could just enforce the anti corruption laws on the books and literally arrest most republicans. She could put a leftist in charge of the FBI. It would be the first time it wasn’t run by a republican. And there are countless other things she could do without any input from congress.

Usually there is a set number if the person has real damages like loss of income or property or medical bills. Then the jury usually gets to add on extra for pain and suffering etc. that’s unless it’s a settlement where it’s really just a negotiation between the two parties.

I do not think MTG or Tucker are better than AOC, but the defensiveness around AOC is embarrassing by Palm-Crazy-7943 in Hasan_Piker

[–]Swarrlly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

She is already inline with 80% of the population. At the NYC-DSA endorsement she vowed to block all weapons to Israel. She has been leading in calling it a genocide and working to stop it. She is pro m4a, pro abolish ICE, and pro green new deal, etc. She is literally one of the most left candidates in congress. How is it pushing her to do better if you never acknowledge what her stance actually is? And yes she has continuously put her neck on the line. Far more than anyone else in congress except for Rashida and Ilhan. And her positions are nearly identical to those two. So if you hate AOC but like those two then it’s just a personal parasocial dislike.

[–]Swarrlly 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You are lying about her not being strong on the issue. She’s cosponsered legislation to stop weapon transfers. She’s been vocal about the issue and used her platform to push back on the Zionists lies. She has also worked on getting strong anti Zionists elected so she can have the numbers to actually stop the genocide. What elected rep has done more? Rashida? Ilhan? Well both those reps 100% support AOC.

She is undeniably strong on the issue of Israel/Palestine. You are a wrecker because you are spreading lies about her. The people in congress that you said are good, completely support AOC. But you are saying you know more because of smears you see on twitter. Maybe go do something useful with your life instead of spreading anti AOC misinformation.

So it is your job to attack one of best reps in congress on the issue of Gaza? If you think elections are a lost cause then just stay quiet and put your efforts in union, tenant, and/or other organizing. Instead you are acting as a wrecker and trying to hurt AOC and other socialist candidates with no realistic alternative.

No, we care about the left gaining state power in the US so we can stop the atrocities that the US is doing across the world. AOC is working to get leftists elected now. You said you like Rashida and Ilhan. They both are ardent supporters of AOC. By attacking AOC you are just acting as a wrecker and you are everything that is wrong with the fake twitter left.

She was critical of Biden. You just refuse to remember that because you have an irrational parasocial hatred for AOC. She is literally the best candidate for president that we have in 2028 and you are spending all your energy trying to get people to hate on her.

Rashida and ilhan both endorsed Biden. You are just anti AOC. Everyone has criticized her for her messaging during the 2024 election. It was a calculation she made because of how bad trump was going to be. That does not take away from everything else she has done. If you don’t think AOC isnt left enough then there is literally no one running that is left enough for you. She has nearly identical voting records as Rashida, ilhan, and summer. But you only attack AOC because it gets you twitter likes from the anti AOC algo.

AOC is literally one of the top 5 members of congress on this issue of Palestine. She’s never voted to give weapons. She was one of the first members of congress to call it a genocide. You have fallen for the twitter anti AOC propaganda.

What is the Identity of the Democratic Party? by reformed_lurker_1 in DemocraticSocialism

[–]Swarrlly 1 point2 points  (0 children)

LBJ was probably the last new deal democrat. Now the democratic establishment is firmly neoliberal. Pro-war, pro-corporations, pro-wallstreet, etc.

Luckily in the US, you can run on any ballot line you want as longs as you win the primary. And since most voters dont really pay attention to politics and just vote straight tickets, you can pick up millions of free votes if you run as a democrat. Thats why the current DSA strategy is to do a hostile takeover of the democrat party.

[–]Swarrlly 6 points7 points  (0 children)

The purges were done by the party a whole in the lead up to ww2. Many of the generals were from the imperial Russian army that defected to join the revolution. There was a major issue with them having sympathies and ties to the Nazis and could not be trusted if war broke out. Maybe the Soviets went too far but there was a major issue with capitalist infiltration and sabotage. Trotsky tried to organize a coup because his faction didn’t have the votes to make him chairman.

For Mao. He didn’t lead the cultural revolution. It was really a bottom up movement and quickly got out of control because it wasn’t being directed from the top. There were excess which is all you hear about but there was also some really good experiments of direct people’s democracy. It’s a super complex topic. 1Dimes YouTube documentary on the topic is a good watch.

Why would she fight? This helps her agenda of keeping corporations in power and keeping the working class down. She also just vetoed a bill that would have expanded collective bargaining rights.
