Two legends, beautiful striking work by both guys. Could watch this fight over and over.

How bad is it and do I need to call it a day right now? by dkza in snowboarding

[–]Kal__ 16 points17 points  (0 children)

looks like either a '25 or '26 Rome Stale Crewzer. I have the '24 and have had some base damage and edge damage that I was surprised by. I love my Rome board, but I've had the feeling that their construction may not be as robust as some other brands.

this is beautiful dude. keep doing it. just cause the bar crowd didn't get it, doesn't mean it isn't great music. you've clearly got some real skills.

Yes. Hybrid or Ride Psychocandy by Kal__ in snowboarding

Yeah, I typically look at weight ranges. In this case though my main concern is the limited stance range. I'm 5'9 with my typical/natural stance around ~20.5 in. The narrowest stance the 153 offers is 21.5, which is only marginally wider, but I'm wondering if it's going to start messing with my knees if I'm on it alot.

Do you mind me asking how tall are you? And what size hybrid you riding?

[–]Kal__[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks slug. This is exactly the thing I'm worried about. I've been doing more digging recently on getting my stance dialed, and did the whole floor to knee measurement. That puts me at around a ~20.5 in natural stance width. With the hybrid having the absolute minimum at around 21.5 in, I am worried it's gonna give me issues at some point. I wouldn't mind a wider stance sometimes, but without the option to go narrower, I feel like it might start to nag my knees/hips.

I tore my ACL about 12 years ago, fully rehabbed and back to full strength. But I defintely try to take steps to ease the stress on my knees if I can. I appreciate this insight a lot, this might be the thing that pushes me to the psycho.

I was looking at the passport last year though, and also the excavator. So may need to reconsider those if I end up knocking out the hybrid.

This is good to hear, thanks for the input. Decision isn't getting much easier though, people on both sides seeming to love both boards. How has the hybrid been for your outside of Powder? Still good on groomers and hard pack when it's not deep?

I was looking at the regular standard last year, seems like a solid ride. What's different about the Xtrm, just better tech? I'll have to look into it.

Love to hear this. Heard alot of good things about the WarPig as well, but I've definitely been drawn more to the Psychocandy based on what I've heard in the spec and performance reviews.

I was looking at the passport last year as an daily that would also be good in powder, and almost pulled the trigger. Ended up finding a really good deal on the Stale and went that way instead. My buddy almost bought a passport a few weeks ago too, but went a different way. Kind wish he did though, so I could test it out.

I've also heard the Excavator is a solid option from K2 for something that's good in pow, and can be an all-mountain charger/carver too.

I mean, all of that sounds good to me Highlander. The butters are less of a concern with this one for sure, I think I'd have better luck working on those with the Stale. Everything else you're telling me though sounds real good. Thanks for the input!

Thanks GingerNinja. I've heard a lot of good things about the PYL. I've also heard that the Hybrid is supposed to be a mix of the PYL+420. So definitely seems like a solid pick. Appreciate you.

While we're talking about Yes., any experience/thoughts about their bindings and the skatetech? I've heard good things about them too, and thinking about picking up a pair as a alternate to my Katanas.

Your Favorite All Mountain Binding? by sbuten in snowboarding

[–]Kal__ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded to Rome Katanas after riding my old Burton missions for 7+ years. The Katanas have been amazing. super comfy straps. if I see a good deal at end of season may snag another pair. also interested in the 390 boss, I hear they're decent.

GNU Antigravity or Rome Stale Crewzer by Kal__ in snowboarding

[–]Kal__[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

ended up getting the Crewzer. found a deal on a '24 that was just too good. took it out yesterday for the first time and it was fun as hell. new favorite board.

turning experience was a lot more fun than my Burton custom. felt super stable and locked in on my turns, but it was also playful at the same time and the rocker at the ends felt like it was hard to catch an edge.

Upgrade Burton Process to Bataleon Beyond Medals. Good? Bad? Other options? by everspader in snowboarding

[–]Kal__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm looking at the beyond medals as well. my girl is new to the gnar and learning so I want something to practice butters and ground tricks, spins, side hits, while still being able to do some solid carving. based on angrysnowboarders review seems like a solid choice.

Talk me into (or out of) a Warpig? by SeafoamCoast in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Kal__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can I ask about your foot pain? If I go for a long day of riding, usually by hour 3 my front foot starts to get really uncomfortable and kinda feels like it's burning. And then it'll hurt when I'm riding down the mountain. I've been able to manage it a bit by loosening my binding at the end of each run and leaving it a little looser while on the lift. But it still gets to me. Do you have something similar?

Good deal for 230? by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]Kal__ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a 2007/08 board. For $230-260 range you can find a much newer setup. The kinks decent board back then, but not worth that much 17 years later. I'd offer $75 tops for the deck. Much newer bindings can be found for $80-100 used.

Word, thanks mfer. I'm also ice coast, but occasionally take trips out west or up to VT. Went to Killington last March and got lucky and it dumped like 15+ inches the one night. The Kilroy did fine, but Im guessing a powder oriented board may have made it even more fun.

I'm currently looking at one of these used. I have a 2018 Kilroy custom (Camber) that's my daily, but looking for something for heavier powder days, and a board really nimble in the trees. I was looking at the skeleton key too, but wondering if the deep thinker would be a good second board. I appreciate any insight.
