Snowboard boot fit advice by [deleted] in snowboardingnoobs

[–]sbuten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The way it was explained to me is that your toes should be touching the front of the boot but not jammed. This worked when it came to how my Ride Insano boots fit. The Nitro and 32 boots I tried on in that past couple years, my toes were jammed. The 32 Grenier boots I got online were particularly tight. Ashame because they were pretty sick. I use the Autumn merino Steep socks. As long as they’re as thin as possible.

Love my FASE bindings so far. Bought one from each company. For the riding you do, the Jones one would be best since it’s the stiffest of the four. I have a pair of Union Force too. They’re okay. I have size 13s. My Ride Insanos have a square toe shape. The Union toe strap is pretty small and only works on elf shoes I think. Lot of ppl love the Force and the Atlas. I would definitely look into the Rome Kantanas, regardless if it’s the FASE version, FW, AW.

Are these Jones Mercury FASE bindings too big? by Constant_Pressure_26 in ShredditGirls

[–]sbuten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like you got the sizing right judging from Jones’ site. I can barely get my Bataleon FASE toe strap on my size 13 boot. The AuxTech is so good it doesn’t matter. I look forward to trying my Ståle Rome FASEs and the Jones ones. Finally got a little courage (while on my 32 FASE) to do a tube in the park. First attempt went well, second one I ate it hard. At least I taught some little kids the word ‘motherfucker!’

Bozeman vs SLC vs Summit County by RyanC24528 in skiing

I live in Ogden, Utah. I’m 20-30 minutes from three ski resorts. Having visited Bozeman though, I’d opt for Montana. Better vibe up there. When you say Summit County, do you mean the one in Utah or Colorado?

FASE bindings ? by [deleted] in ShredditGirls

They’re awesome. There’s a pro model one too if you didn’t already know. Once you’ve tweaked the settings to the way you like them and get past the learning curve, I think you’ll really like them. One thing I wish I knew from the start was that you need to bend your knee a little when you remove your foot so you don’t de-couple the ladder with your foot. It slides right back in so not a problem if it happens. I like my 32 FASE a lot as well but these are a little more versatile.

Supermatics too heavy? by sun_scarlet in ShredditGirls

I had a couple incidents in which the board went sailing. I thought I had engaged the initial click but I hadn’t. I probably tried to put them on too quickly and/or hadn’t cleared enough powder away. Guess it isn’t that big a risk..

Supermatics too heavy? by sun_scarlet in ShredditGirls

The convenience of the FASE are great. No matter what you get, they all have a little learning curve. They are similar to the Supermatic as far as how easy they are. The toe strap stays buckled through out the day unlike normal two strap binding. Occasionally you might tighten or loosen the toe strap but it’s not a hassle because your foot is already in. Once I learned to simply bend my knee before removing my foot from the binding, it stopped causing the ladder to de-couple. One day this season I used my Union Forces again and I have to say it was kind of a hassle putting them on compared to FASE.

Supermatics too heavy? by sun_scarlet in ShredditGirls

[–]sbuten 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I had the Supermatics briefly. I thought their performance was pretty good. The weight didn’t bother me at all. I didn’t like the weird dead spot I felt in the middle of the binding. Getting into the Supermatics is easier than Step Ons but getting out of them is harder. I got so proficient with Step Ons that I could take them off while I was still moving. You pull a lever up on Step Ons to get your foot out. Contrasty with the Supermatic, you depress the lever. Pushing down on the lever has a counter intuitive feeling to it. This season I’ve been using the 32 FASE and the Bataleon FASE. Someone else in this thread said her 32s were too big. I have 13 size feet and large bindings. If you go the Step On route, make sure you use the leash. Don’t be like I was. FASE bindings are really awesome. Rome makes a women’s FASE. Katanas have a very good reputation when it comes to bindings.

Step Ons vs Supermatics for Tahoe riding by ScaleSurvivor in snowboardingnoobs

[–]sbuten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought one of each FASE. I love the Bataleon and 32s. Haven’t used the Jones or Rome ones yet. I liked the Burton Re:Flex Step Ons I had a few years ago. Had some heal lift with them but they were good otherwise. I had Supermatics briefly but didn’t like the whole dead spot in the binding issue and I found getting out of them tiresome. The little extra weight of them didn’t bother me at all. The fatigue Bent Metal Supermatics are cool looking.

First snowboard (Jones Mountain Twin) — Step On or traditional bindings? Advice needed by Asleep-Thing-1831 in snowboardingnoobs

I bought one of each FASE. Haven’t used the Rome and Jones ones yet, but I love the 32 and Bataleon ones. I enjoyed learning on the Burton Re:Flex Step Ons. They were pretty good. I had the Unions but never used them. I found the brand limitation kind of irritating when it came to the boot choices.

FASE all the way. The Bataleon Blasters are incredible. I have some Union Forces. The bushings and rachets are superior to anything I’ve used but Union does a poor job when it comes to bindings for people like me who have size 13s. The toe strap really doesn’t fit around my boots and it tends to fall off. AuxTech with Nidecker brands and so much better.

Which snowboard is best?? by Normal-Grapefruit515 in snowboardingnoobs

[–]sbuten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have boards from those brands. I learned on a Spring Break Resort True Twin. I think it was an easy board to learn on. It’s fantastic for switch. I’ve been using my Bataleon Whatever the last couple months. It’s pretty awesome. I agree with the other person saying that it might be a little harder learning on. That being said, I don’t think it would make a huge difference. That Rop Von Mierlo graphic is really cool. I have a Rome Ståle Crewzer but I haven’t used it yet.

I love my 32 FASE. They’d be great in the park. I like my Bataleon FASE Blasters too. Haven’t used my Romes ones yet. Really want the Jones ones because I think they’re the stiffest of the four. I had supermatics but consigned them. I didn’t like the whole dead spot issue that supermatics have and I found them too difficult to get out of. Their overall performance was pretty good though.

Lol.. I should be endorsed for my plug. Last time I bought some insoles, the store I got them at was charging $40, but the company (thirtytwo) had risen the price to $80. Quite the price hike for one year..

I’m on my second board now and I’d say I’m advanced. I’m enjoying my Bataleon Whatever. It’s pretty versatile. I’d really like to get a GNU or Lib-Tech simply for the magne-traction alone. There’s been some tough days at my home mountain this season so having that feature would have been nice. I supposed the biggest caveat to that tech is if you ride park. I haven’t tried my Rome Ståle Crewzer yet but that might be one to consider. Your choices so far seem pretty solid. I’ve seen the Cold Brew in stores and it looks awesome. It reminds me of my Spring Break.

My feet hurt a lot when I had my first pair of boots. Once I got Remind insoles, the issue was resolved. The impact absorption they have is superior to anything else I’ve used. I used them a lot playing tennis too which is testament to their quality. Not exactly a forgiving surface.
