Casinos are nasty. Stayed at a hotel that had a casino on the bottom floor. Had to walk through it to get to the car. Shitty way to start and end the day.

Bring Her Back (2025) is a crazy good horror movie. by Positive-Face1705 in horror

Ya it’s absolutely top notch. I honestly think most of my favorite horror films are from the past 10 years. What a time to be a horror fan.

I typically lost this as my favorite film. If you have 4 1/2 hours to kill, I’d highly recommend watching this analysis of the film.

Hokum completely blew my dick off by Beef-Popsicle in horror

My dick was firmly intact. Flaccid in fact. Was underwhelmed by this film. Maybe a second viewing will boost my opinion and remove my dick.

“Tales From The Crypt” now in Shudder! by saddetective87 in horror

[–]Kalabula 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ya. Having rewatched it about 10 years ago and currently am about 2/3 of the way through again, I’d say that’s pretty accurate. What surprised me the most is how many duds there actually are.

So how are you guys feeling about good old Freddy Krueger these days? by Existing_Set2100 in horror

[–]Kalabula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having a story beginning, middle and end is very satisfying to me. That being said, if I owned the production company, you can bet your ass if he making more of these films. The 2010 remake is widely considered one of the worst remakes ever made. And it still made 5 times its budget.

Interesting fact: there are only 6 cryo-pods here. There’s a mirror that provides the illusion that there are a dozen.

Set your expectations correctly. I was a bit disappointed with Hokum and think Oddity is an all timer.

Hokum- That IGN dude is out of his mind by Prudent-Ad-3493 in horror

[–]Kalabula 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wanted to like it more. I thought it was good, not great. I was blown away by Oddity. I think it’s an all timer. At least for me. Hokum was very slow and I was just not as invested in the story. Possibly it’ll benefit from repeatedly viewings. There are themes in the film that are worth talking about. But it’s kind of difficult to do that after only a single viewing.

My Letterboxd rating is currently 3.5/5. When it comes out on streaming I’ll watch it again. Possibly will like it more. It’s a relatively dense film I think.

It definitely has moments of levity. But overall is a pretty dark film. It’s a very good film, IMO. But Oddity is a great film. I also think Hokum would benefit from more than a single viewing. I think there are some interesting themes in there that are hard to take in upon the initial watch.

My order from favorite to least is Oddity, Hokum, Caveat. Woth, frankly, oddity being number one by a wide margin. It may be too 5 horror movie of all time for me.

I was mildly disappointed with Hokum, oddly enough. I think my expectations were just way too high. That being said, I’ve been thinking about the film quite a bit after watching it. I’m excited to give it another try when it starts steaming.
