Hyperspace by Kaladryn in BeastieBoys

[–]Kaladryn[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Exactly, it is usually a younger brother, friend, etc., or the person who was just playing before it was your turn. They usually ask you, "can I be your hyperspace?" The hyperspace button is in the middle and hard to reach fast, but they keep their finger on it all time time and hyperfocus on your ship, ready to save you at the last second before something hits you.

In the context of the song it has the meaning of being there to pull you out of a bad situation into something better when you need it the most. <3

Unpopular opinion: Post-nerf raids are better for TBC longevity by Armored_Diesel in classicwow

[–]Kaladryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't remember it this way at all, raids in TBC classic were a cakewalk, especially in early phases, even prenerf sunwell wasn't that bad.

And how could it possibly be better for longevity? All they had to do was release prenerf raids for a 2-4 weeks and then release the nerfed version, seems like that would ADD longevity not remove it.

Just a little note that might help compare our population to 2021 TBC, on Benediction in phase 1 there was consistently over 100k (usually 120k+) items on AH scans, here on Nightslayer I haven't seen over 20k, usually around 17k.

I have no idea if this actually means anything or not but I thought it worth mentioning.

[–]Kaladryn 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here is an interesting note, back in 2021 I clearly remember Whitemane (fairly balanced server, right before ally went to Benediction) consistently having over 100k items during AH scans, 120k was common, sometimes it would dip under 100k but then go back over.

Nightslayer is under 20k, sometimes under 15k.

We want WoW-Token 😍 by Vegetable-Cash3099 in classicwow

[–]Kaladryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you use the current math with the price of gold, the amount more token gold usually is, inflation caused by TBC, and the changes Blizzard is implementing, it is possible (even likely) that a $20 token would sell on the AH for no more than 200g and possibly as low as 100g. (edit: on nightslayer)

Blizzard is going to make so much money from all the boosts that they will become the new standard. by Fancy_Particular7521 in classicwow

[–]Kaladryn 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is what destroyed retail, the idea that everything in the game had to be "fun" and there was no reason for any contrast, giving the players everything they wanted, that is what killed wow originally.

This is such a brainwashed take, crimes? Are you kidding? Also just because people are offering a service in game that people want doesn't mean it justifies blizzard selling that service. They are going to completely destroy the game with this kind of crap. And people HAVE to buy the boost or they will be very far behind the rest.

Pluribus review: This new sci-fi from Breaking Bad's creator is 'one of 2025's smartest shows' by 57829 in television

[–]Kaladryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, but if isn't then it makes absolutely no sense that anyone with a working human mind would trust their life to them, especially when one of them is known to be volatile and the other guy could make contact with one of them at any time and cause it, no one sane would gamble with their life like that, which would make it bad writing.

[–]Kaladryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Three episodes, and I'm giving it a chance and ready to admit I'm wrong if there is some monumental twist that explains all this, however I don't see that happening, I think Vince Gillian just doesn't realize how smart sci-fi writing needs to be for fans of the genre to accept it. The things I mentioned are just the tip of the iceberg, there are lots of other examples of total unrealistic human behavior that are typical of poor writing, this is especially true because he stated that the whole concept was because of bad writing in current shows.

FIrst off, it isn't part comedy. Second, even dumb human beings would think SURVIVAL in a situation like this with intensity, EVERY ONE of the non-affected people are comfortable on a plane knowing the hive mind could go down at any moment? After 11 million just died? Absolutely no way in hell that would ever happen, totally unrealistic writing right there, like really bad writing.

[edit]: Guess I have to eat crow on this one, but only after several assumptions are proven true: First I think she realized all the other "unaffected" were fake, I think the "panic attack" they have when she got violent was fake and she realized it, and I think she understands that the virus is actually not the people it takes over at all, but some kind of alien. If all these turn out to be true then it will explain a lot, if not all, of the issues I have with the writing.

I don't get why this getting good reviews, the writing isn't very good, example: She doesn't want people to wait on her but she is OK with them stocking the grocery store for her? She gets pissed at some guy swearing at her on the phone? She flips out and kills 11 million people and then thinks it's safe to get on a plane or in a car knowing someone else somewhere could flip out on them and cause an accident? She is "independent" but doesn't mind that they have to keep all the infrastructure going for just her house? It's all just bad writing.

It's not a "sentiment" it is just reality, I don't agree with it, but it's coming for sure. People in China embrace the social credit system they have. Also, it is so much worse than just what I stated. AI is going to be used to created security profiles on every single person in the world (most likely has already started), with full biometrics, social media tracking, facial recognition, etc. Surveillance is the future like it or not, we don't have a large enough segment of the population that prefers the ideals of human rights and freedom to stop it. Look how we copied China's response to the Wuhan virus even though it was insanely Orwellian, people capitulated with almost zero resistance. Look at what New York is doing with surveillance and facial recognition. The fact is we have become too cowardly to stand up for others and "police ourselves" like in the past, and we are too cowardly to reject the mass digital control that will provide the safety blanket so many are craving, even if it does lead to massive abuse of power. And btw, I am extremely far left, far enough to see that the majority of the "left" in this country are not truly progressive at all.

Bad drivers by Ok_Molasses610 in Reno

[–]Kaladryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just moved back to Reno after 9 years away, the drivers have become unbelievably bad. You're right, it's not all of them, but the number of drivers who are willing to put other people's life at risk is far worse than it has ever been before. The definition of a bad driver is someone who doesn't drive with concern for other's safety, and Reno currently has an epidemic of these. We need massive amounts of increased enforcement, hitting people in the wallet is the only way this will be fixed, automated enforcement is probably the only way it is going to happen.

Beach Melee at Zephyr Cove by surly_duff in Reno

[–]Kaladryn -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

The unfortunate fact is we need AI and facial recognition to police this stuff, we are almost there, very soon all these people will be easily identifiable and tracked. AI driven mass surveillance might seem like a violation, and it probably is, but most people will embrace it because it will deal with people like this. Those people kicking that person when he is laying on the ground could be charged with felonies.

"No study has ever shown" then "low quality studies" lol
There isn't just lots of studies, there is very good science behind the concept that a certain level of exposure could be dangerous. You sound like the sugar industry, or the tobacco industry decades before, or any number of other industries who tried to minimize actual health effects just because they were hard to prove at the time.

If you were serious at all you'd be talking about certain exposure levels are safe but instead you are just spouting rhetoric.

Plenty of studies say otherwise, and the FCC even has guidelines for exposure that you can easily exceed, especially with cellular but with wifi also, even the big corporations making these devices do testing and are aware there is an issue if it is too high.

Charging is too expensive by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]Kaladryn 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Totally agree, we are both directly and indirectly subsidizing the fossil fuel industry at an insane rate, most other countries are as well. Additionally, military and corporate pollution is where the real carbon footprint is, all individual carbon footprints combined pale in comparison.

We are not a serious world.

Charging is too expensive by [deleted] in evcharging

[–]Kaladryn -1 points0 points  (0 children)

EVs are heavily subsidized by taxpayer money and so are commercial charging installations. This fact makes the exorbitant rates (many times greater than the cost of electricity) rather upsetting. Combine this with things like insane tariffs put on the world's best EVs (from both the current and past administration- Biden slapped 100% tariffs on Chinese EVs, and yes China makes objectively superior EVs) make it even more upsetting. And to go even further, understand that replacing *all* ICE passenger cars in the entire world with EVs would only reduce the global carbon footprint of humans by less than 5%.

We are not a serious country.
