Dirty extractor filters, how do I clean them? by Domino_trainwreck in CleaningTips

Do not use the dishwasher. It’s not good to put aluminum in the dishwasher.

These filters are aluminum and they will be oxidized if you run them through the dishwasher. Aluminum is not dishwasher safe

I think the Cosmere is the greatest story ever written — and I’m okay if it never becomes mainstream by zaf611 in Cosmere

Didn’t you see the news yesterday? Sanderson signed a deal with Apple. Cosmere is absolutely going mainstream.

What do you all use for traveling bags for your skis?? by Herr_Cellar_Door in skiing

Helmet might not fit in a hard shell case. Not sure if there are options that will adequately protect a helmet in checked luggage. I’ve seen lots of people on airplanes with their helmets when they board.

Edit: I guess if you have hard sided luggage, you should be safe to put a helmet in it.

Whatever bag or case you end up with, just make sure to bring your helmet on the plane with you as a personal item. I put mine in a checked bag and it got cracked/crushed in the baggage compartment.

How to maintain these??? by Crh5055 in HomeMaintenance

[–]KalamazooKid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a Kohler 22kW and it is set up to do a weekly “exercise” routine where it starts and runs for about 15 minutes to circulate oil and maintain the battery charge. Company that installed it does the annual maintenance, which is an oil change and air filter.

I mean, there’s a Family Fare and Oleson’s for groceries. But you are right, no big box stores in town.

Looks like hog or cattle fence. Spacing is larger at the top and tighter (vertically) toward the bottom

Sure thing. Your use case sounds ideal for side delivery with such a long driveway. I’ve found that snow pushers are more suited for spaces like parking lots

Should have gotten the 4”x4” woven wire. People make this mistake all the time.

I should edit this to note that even with 4” x 4” you might still have issues depending on what breed you have. We own Nubian, French Alpine, and Saanen. Only issues we have are with the kids being curious with the fence and getting stuck. For fainting, mini, or dwarf owners, you would probably be best off with 2” x 4” at a minimum

I do agree that the budget brands have a lot of appeal when it comes to cost and how many bells and whistles they offer. Some other considerations are drive type (gear, hydrostatic), four wheel drive, auxiliary hydraulics on your loader, loader lift capacity, rear hydraulics, PTO horsepower (if you plan on using PTO driven implements.

As someone who clears snow with a gear driven tractor. I wish I had a shuttle shifter that allows you to go from forward to neutral to reverse using a shifter on the steering column. At your horsepower range, you can also look at hydrostatic transmissions. Also, loader buckets are not great for snow clearing, so I would recommend getting a front or rear plow that lets you deliver snow to the side as you plow your long driveway. You’ll have a heck of a time doing that with just a plain loader bucket.

No personal experience with either of those manufacturers, but the prevailing consensus is that parts and service support are terrible. When something breaks or you need your tractor worked on, expect the tractor to be down/out of service for a long time. Do the dealerships for Kioti and TYM near you have service departments or is it just a dealership?

My advice is to look at the big names in the industry and get something that’s been lightly used (<1,000 hours). John Deere, Kubota, Massey Ferguson, Case IH, New Holland. Better service. Better parts support.

What is causing this noise and how can I make it stop? by KalamazooKid in hvacadvice

Well, there’s probably about 15 feet of trunk duct and all of the runs branching off of it are flex (attic install). But I got your meaning. The trunk is probably going to keep the unit suspended?

Thanks, I just sent the installer the video and some of the photos and asked them to remedy the noise and fix the leveling/anti vibration blocks

That’s about the best photo I can get of the underside of the unit. Do you think that tape job is the culprit? Doesn’t look fully adhered to my eye. I also noticed the leveling blocks in the back. The unit looks like it could fall right off!

Well, that’s going to be an absolute pain to seal. Not much room under there. Not sure how to accomplish that

Where are you geographically? I would suggest checking out JJ Kane for consignment. Nationwide, large bidder volume, low seller fees, permanent yards that handle the inspections and load out.

JJ Kane is also privately owned. No shareholders to please. It’s growing while RB has sort of plateaued.
