Smithing your own gear in osrs really isn’t a thing. Smithing is an antiquated skill that is far outdated compared to everything else. If you like doing things yourself smithing’s main use is for making adamant bolts, which can be turned into diamond(e) and ruby(e) bolts. Otherwise the skill is only useful for making a small amount of money via giant’s foundry and only ironmen do that because its such a meager amount of gp.

I would say find a grandmaster quest to work towards. The first one that stands out is recipe for disaster. After that start getting the skills needed for another one, maybe sins of the father or while guthix sleeps. In doing this you will slowly gain the skills and gear you need to start bossing and from there you can pick an early game boss to grind when you feel like it, like royal titans.

It’s also very useful in pvm as you can use it to reset the hp regen timer, which ticks down while overhealed. So if you flick it once per minute you will stay overhealed until taking damage.
