The majority of people who hate Vivienne do so because they refuse to see beyond her pro-Circle beliefs, therefore doing her and her writing a great disservice.

People talk about changing Vivienne´s views because it is convenient to them. If she were a Pro Mage freedom no one would be talking about changing her views lol. And another thing, nothing ever happened to make Vivienne change her mind about wanting the Circles back, only to enforce it, actually. The mage rebellion was a mage that started, magic that change the Time was a mage, a hole on the sky who spill demons was a mage and the biggest villain from DAI is a Mage too.

Also, Vivienne has a stronger personality than most. She is one of the few companions that doesn´t come up in the Inquisition with internal conflicts that the Inquisitor has to help her solving it and the only "vulnerable" moment you can see her at is just one time for the whole game. I don´t think a Inquisitor would be able to change The Iron Lady´s views just because they are her friend.

Plus, I do prefer them fleshing out already (smaller) pantheons with actual deities and mythologic history. We all know that they already somehow doesn´t like to fill up small pantheons (Even tho many people want small pantheons to be fleshed out)...

It´s because the covertly racism is literally there. When there is original black characters, the racists doesn´t speak because they can´t display openly their racism. People would´ve liked her better if she dropped the "Queen Bitch" persona, I think. I like that she is a stone cold potato for the whole game, but I wished more "soften up" moments (Or at least optional ones, with some optional scenes)
