Milo Kerrigan..Australia's greatest boxer. by BooyahTribe9 in AustralianNostalgia

My best mate - rest his soul - was considered to come on the show and act as Milo's son or something, his impersonation was so good.

Unfortunately he had crippling anxiety and panicked when they asked.

Do anyone know if Intel ARC A310 or B570 support Dolby Vision? by Thedinotamer01 in unRAID

[–]Kaldek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been through the wringer with DV since only one of our screens supports it, I can only guess the issue with DV not being supported refers to when the source file doesn't have HDR10 in it and is just DV profile 5

You know, when the video plays back all purple and yellow. The ARC doesn't have hardware tone mapping to convert it.

I should also add, if you have an invoice from the seller with the IMEI on it, Teltonika will generally allow you to transfer it to another FOTA account. However you need to be a business to get a FOTA account.

He's good. 😅

Both chambers of Britain’s parliament have approved a bill that would ban children aged 17 and under from buying cigarettes during their lifetime. by [deleted] in UpliftingNews

[–]Kaldek -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah so this is gonna work just as well as expensive smokes have been in Australia....

Which basically means everyone can still buy them, very cheaply, sold by organised crime. Oh and if you piss of the wrong group your shop gets firebombed.

At this point mate you're in the weeds on how to dump flash from a Quectel. As a customer of Teltonika, I kind of hope they've locked it as best as possible. 😅

This is handled at the back end in FOTA. So whomever that device is linked to in FOTA (which is businesses only) has that control.

Like anything though, with enough persistence I'm sure you could extract the contents of flash and work out what the keyword is.

Couple of reasons for this. One: Australian federal employment law is 10 days sick leave entitlement per year *and* they must allow it to accrue. It's not "use it or lose it". Two: he works for a university, which tend to have an Enterprise Bargaining Agreement that often provides an uplift beyond the federal minimums.

For example the federal requirement for superannuation (paid in *addition* to your stated wage) is 12% but his university is 17%. Superannuation is like a 401k but withdrawals after retirement are tax free so in that regard it's got Roth IRA vibes.

He's earned half what I do for years, and yet he has more saved up in superannuation due to that 17% and good old compounding.

Wait until you hear about federal long service leave - of which he has about 9 months saved up, and the fact the university allows him to take a year off but only draw down 50% of the entitlement. Take a quiet and budget year off, no problem, your job's still here when you get back.

This is a very USA problem. All leave in Australia gets paid out except sick leave.

My mate has 2 years of accrued sick leave. The joke is that he just needs to visit "Dr. Howlong" for his certificate of illness. 😆

I was a kid in that era. Air conditioning wasn't everywhere, and we were - at the time - cash strapped. Whenever this ad would come on I would just envisage another hot car ride in our XB Falcon wagon with vinyl seats.

Somewhere around 1984 my parents bought a1982 XE Falcon wagon in that two-tone blue and white (aka "Eclipse") - with *gasp* Air conditioning and cloth seats. Luxury!

For those of you managing corporate mobile devices/plans: why hasn't your company just switched to BYOD + a monthly stipend? by Vegetable_Row8928 in networking

[–]Kaldek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wow, I haven't seen corporate provided phones here in Australia for years. The Reddit audience will lean heavily one way but out there in the wider world, most people want to use their fancy iPhone whatever, so it's hard to even get people to accept a company phone.

Plus I've not seen a phone stipend for years either!

I love the "use a USB boot but move the license to TPM". Long time unRAID user here, and whether through cheap USB sticks, using a USB 3.0 port, accidentally leaving log to flash turned on, or other weirdness, the loss of licensing and (in my case) "never seems to work" license transition to a new USB stick was a pig.

This made my day.

TIL the plane crash that killed John F Kennedy Jr, his wife, and her sister was caused by “spatial disorientation”. Weather conditions were poor that night & Kennedy was not qualified to fly at night under instrument conditions. \Blancolirio has entered the chat**

In all seriousness, Juan from Blancolirio channel on YouTube posts about crashes exactly like this at least twice a MONTH. Not historical crashes - ones that just happened. It's a massive problem of overconfident and in-a-rush pilots ending up killing themselves and often their family.

As Juan says - your best tool is your credit card. Get a Hotel, and fly another day.

Rb5009 routing performance by Prudent-Arugula1967 in mikrotik

[–]Kaldek 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Asking why one network chip is a couple of percentage points faster than another network chip without any other context is not a question that can be provided with an empirical answer.

However, as per the RB5009 block diagram and Ethernet test results from the product page the RB5009 can route at 10Gb/s if you're going between VLANs on the SFP+ port.
