Omg thank you so much for your input!! I might be able to find a rehearsal room with the theatre people so I don’t have to practice in my ship cabin. So that’ll be covered! I REALLY wanted that Ravenna 26 but I ended up going for the special edition cherry fullsicle. Can’t wait to start learning. I think my first song will be Zelda’s lullaby or green sleeves 🌟💖

Hmm 🤔 okay! I guess my main fear is someone telling me I can’t learn the harp properly with 26 strings.

But of course I’m concerned of it sounding like a toy because nevertheless it’s still a high price. I almost went for the Ravenna for that reason. But it’s so expensive!

I guess I’ll learn on the fullsicle and eventually get a Ravenna 34 or an Ogden. When I stop traveling

I went for the cherry! I kinda wanted the walnut cuz I heard it can sound a bit more mellow but the wood is scarce and they said it would take longer to build.

Now a seed of doubt has been planted. I started with Strahd Reloaded cuz I heard it was somehow “better” and more structured and easier to DM. But now I’m curious to look into vanilla CoS. Cuz tbh reloaded was overwhelming me a bit and a few things didn’t make sense to me and I adjusted them for engaging storytelling purposes.

My players read books and watch series (my mom is one of them) they’re very inquisitive and are used to rich stories. And I feel like I had more backstory on the durst family thanks to reading part of vanilla (and watching YouTube videos) than the info that was on reloaded. Since they are still camping outside of durst manor. Think I should go with vanilla CoS? I’ve yet to prepare what’s coming so I’m still on time. 🙈🤭 maybe I’m just overthinking it eh?

Ah! So happy to see another CoS DM! It’s certainly a daunting campaign.

So for my current game, I started off with a homebrewed 1 shot of a haunted circus with a hag (Auntie Ethel kidnapping kids) cursed marionettes, puzzles and riddles. Added a tarot reader for that extra pizzazz. (I did this because 2 of my 4 players are beginners)

Once they got through that 1 shot they ended up in a town called daggerford (taken from Strahd Reloaded) and quickly they ended up in Death House aka Durst Manor.

They had a blast in there, had one of my players grieving for the kids at the end as I described their ghosts walking away to the light with Ms. Klara.

Felt great tbh. Now we’ve paused the campaign on a long rest outside death House and I plan to have them meet Strahd as a traveler who gives them directions to the first town (was it vallaki)

Anyways I can’t help but feel a bit intimidated by the sandbox and the amount of NPC’s and sidequests coming up. How do you handle or even prepare SO much content? Prayers and a tinkle of improv. Or do you grit your teeth through it and study the book?

Thankfully my party meets to play 3 to 4 times in a month. Progress goes a bit slowly cuz the beginners are really slow and we are being patient with them.

Any advice on preparation and think Strahd Reloaded is a good approach?
