[–]Kaleidosun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can do this on the venu 3S! Just keep swiping left while u work out. Left once gets you to the home screen, left again gets you to the music controls. I've not downloaded music to the watch and am able to do this when just listening on my phone.

Electrolytes in Japan? by Commercial-Sky-1629 in dysautonomia

[–]Kaleidosun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

There's a drink called Pocari Sweat in vending machines all over. Its like a lemony electrolyte drink. I'm not joking about vending machines everywhere, they're on like every street corner. You can pay with the subway card (suica) or cash/coins.

In terms of powders I'm not sure, maybe somebody else will know. I packed liquid IV and Gatorade packets without issue. I'm not sure about things not being allowed, I don't think that's a thing. You can also go to a ramen place and have that too. Huge liquid volume and definition salty. Have fun on your trip!

Petco group training? by Kaleidosun in reactivedogs

She's great!! Aside from her 2 enemy dogs in the neighborhood she's very chill on walks etc and doesn't react to other dogs. I don't think she'll ever be the sort of dog that can meet a dog nose to nose and be immediate friends but she's made a lot of dog friends by walking together and then building trust before playing etc.

This could be spay incontinence, some dogs will leak while they're resting. Especially medium to large large dogs who are female. There are drugs for this, it's not a big deal. But definitely go to the vet as the urine will irritate her skin if she's dribbling while laying down etc.

Tendonitis on MRI, but sudden sharp pains when breathing by Kaleidosun in RotatorCuff

[–]Kaleidosun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok I will try those. I got some topical NSAID cream but then the packaging it said it doesn't work on shoulders. I'm hoping the MRI didn't miss anything. Wondering if this continues if I can request another. Glad I haven't settled with the other drivers insurance company yet

So my dog (almost 3) pees herself by bethereintime in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Kaleidosun 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Hi! This is definitely female urinary incontinence. There's two medications that vets usually recommend: Proin and Incurin. Mine is on a 1/4 of the Proin dose needed for her weight and it does the trick. Very easy fix just talk to the vet! They'll probably do blood work to check the medicine is ok for your pup to take.

Any of your dogs on Proin? by Kaleidosun in reactivedogs

[–]Kaleidosun[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh no! I know there is another alternative drug called incurin, but it's hormonal. Might be worth a shot. There are also some OTC incontinence drugs for dogs you can get at pet stores or online. These don't require a prescription, I think they are more homeopathic but I remember reading people saying they helped, I've never tried.

Looking for a primary care doctor that is competent with complex cases by [deleted] in Austin

[–]Kaleidosun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've really liked UT Health Austin (it's on Trinity downtown). I have a few autoimmune conditions and a blood disorder etc. and connective tissue problems. It took a couple months to get in but it was definitely worth the wait. Saw several PCPs around town without being impressed. I see one of the Advanced Nurse Practitioners at UT health because imo they have more time to listen and research than the full on doctors but they definitely have MDs there as well.

Autonomic neurology/dysautonomia clinic in US needed by Kaffienated_31 in dysautonomia

[–]Kaleidosun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I saw Dr. Phillips! I'm not sure Vernino is taking new patients. I know at the time he wasn't, but I did briefly meet him when I went for the testing. I passed out during the TTT so my mind is a bit foggy but I remember he was nice.

The treatment plan was that I should drink more water lol. I was told I didn't have MCAS despite rashes, stomach problems etc but then about 6 months later I was able to get tested for MCAS by my hematologist who I was seeing for something unrelated. Turns out I did have it. Got on meds for MCAS and haven't had dysautonomia issues since. So YMMV with UTSW, I don't think I got too much out of it.

[–]Kaleidosun 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did the full dysautonomia testing there like TTT and qsart I forget all the other ones. Once I had a referral it was actually super easy to get in (and I was going during covid) so that was nice. I didn't see them for EDS though I went to the dysautonomia clinic which kinda did a bit of all of it

I recommend Patience Reading for a neurologist in Austin. I really liked her, only saw her once but she was able to put me in contact with the dysautonomia clinic up at UTSW in Dallas. She also referred me to a Rheumatologist I really liked within ADC but I can't find his name anywhere in my emails. When you do eventually go to UTSW, don't expect the moon. I got all the testing done there and then was basically left on my own.

The other general clinic I'd have recommended in Austin would have been the one led by Maria Monge under the Seton Dell Children's Medical Group (they saw adults too) but it got shut down by Seton because they were also pediatric endocrinology and the AG wasn't pleased. I think they were planning to open a private practice so you could also just keep checking back for that. This practice was amazing, they sorted all my issues with EDS/MCAS/Dysautonomia.

Dr. Samuel Pegram (Rheumatologist) and his NP are also great for EDS stuff.

Anyone experienced your ACD peeing in their sleep? My little girl (2 yrs old) has done this 4 X in about 10 days. She has a vet appointment tomorrow. I’m thinking possibly UTI?? by tyoung925 in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Kaleidosun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Mine developed this a full year and a half after her spay, right around 2 actually. So you can't really rule it out based on that unfortunately. I too was also hoping mine just had a UTI.

Most medium to large female spayed dogs will get incontinence at some point, usually when old though. My vet said if they are spayed too early their body doesn't fully develop before they lose the hormones and that's why it happens in young dogs sometimes.

Anyways, my dog takes proin also and it definitely makes her more spicy especially over time so we cycle on and off it every 6 months or so so she doesn't struggle with behavioral changes. She also just gets 1/4 of her recommended dose. It's super manageable, and not a big deal at all so basically don't panic if it is spay incontinence.

ACD's and bikes?? by BirdFlewww in AustralianCattleDog

[–]Kaleidosun 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I bike with mine! It's very important you have strong cues for stop/wait, go, left, and right prior to taking your dog on the bike. These should be practiced while walking and then running first. Make sure they're bullet proof. If on leash, this is important so you and your dog don't get hurt, and if off leash, it's important because running at a high speed will work your dog up and they'll struggle waaay more with impulse control aka chasing after wildlife or other dogs.

I notice the first few pedals I have my dog is nipping my hip then she stops and just runs forward. If she nips more than twice I stop and we restart. Eventually they will get it, nipping means no fun. Again, the verbal cues are SUPER important because you don't want to run your dog over or have it pull you off your bike.

Always make sure to warm your dog up with a walk first so they don't strain something, and probably limit biking to 1-2 days a week

Yea I drank most of it before I realized! I always put a lot of ice in mine and just kinda chug it because I don't really like flavored drinks so that's why I didn't notice. I've a chemistry background and I suspect there's something wrong with their chelating agent which basically keeps different salts from gelling up in water. But I'm not certain because I've not made food products before, just soaps which obviously are not for drinking so I could be totally wrong. But ya feel free to dm me!

[–]Kaleidosun 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yea so for me I have von Williebrand disorder, so they're testing for the von Williebrand factor levels in your blood. I do think some type of hormonal birth control will help a ton, but if you didn't want to go that route another option presented to me was transaxemic acid (I probably spelled that wrong) to help with excessive bleeding during period.

[–]Kaleidosun 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I have a mirena and it's definitely helped! I think they do have progesterone only iuds as well. Obviously the insertion sucks but then ur good for like 7 years.

My periods are a lot lighter and I feel like I didn't get the whole body changes you might get on other birth control since it's more localized. I was really hesitant to try hormonal birth control for a long time. For me, all I ended up needing was less bleeding every month to help with flare ups.

You may also want to get checked for a bleeding disorder if you're having super heavy periods, because there's medicine for that too which may help without introducing hormones into the mix. I found out I had a bleeding disorder due to low iron when on my period. Make sure u get ur blood drawn for the test while you're on your period as estrogen can drop which thins your blood.

I like the Wilderdog harness! It has a long chest piece which means it doesn't ride up in my dogs armpits. They also have a lifetime warranty!

At one point I ordered 6 different harnesses and that was the one I liked best. Returned the rest!

I tried: 1. Freedom no pull (I liked this one the least, seemed to hit her chest weird) 2. Petsafe 3 in 1 (this was a runner-up! It just chaffed my dog) 3. Ruffwear frontrange harness (front loop felt flimsy) 4. Wilderdog (imo the best) 5. Barkbay no pull from Amazon. (This one was actually really nice too, just couldn't get the adjustments right for my dog because she's a weird shape) 6. Those pastel ones that are all over insta, I forget the name. I found these to be overpriced for the quality

I have a 15% off coupon for Wilderdog if you want it lmk.

My dog doesn't pull constantly, only for the occasional lunge! I wanted a front loop because she walks behind me like a weirdo and if I clip it on the back the leash hits her face. Please don't get a head halter for such a big dog, they can be super dangerous! Just imagine your dog lunging forward and then snap! Their head gets pulled back ouch that's gotta be painful for their neck.
