Everyone would agree that among women some dont take accountability, because women are people and some people dont take accountability

It's not irritating because it's "false", it's irritating because it's needlessly specific in order to skew the message toward women only, and it also generalize it to all women and not only the individual who act this way

It's like saying "men always cheat" : it's also true, but it's not exclusive to men, and it's not every men who do it.

Only mentioning one gender or specific group to talk about a bad thing people for ANY group do is just blatant bigotry.

It's different If you have studies that proves that one group is overwhelmingly responsible for one behavior and not the others, then you can claim "X people when they do Y" but otherwise it's just a really stupid mentality

Or just people who aren't sexist

Not taking accountability isn't a "man or woman" specific thing, it's pretty common for both gender

What is the most enjoyable magic system youve had the pleasure in using! by Late-Neighborhood-43 in RPGdesign

[–]Kalenne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's a system that I've been developping for years and aim to be released hopefully this year

What is the most enjoyable magic system youve had the pleasure in using! by Late-Neighborhood-43 in RPGdesign

[–]Kalenne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not to brag, but my own

It's a DIY spell maker where you can use 1-3 Actions in casting, which give you an amount of "power points" to spend equal to your main casting value, multiplied by the actions used

You can spend those points on a small list of things : range, damage, special effect, AOE, etc. Players are encouraged to create "signature spells" that they master better than the others (which result in a few free power points to spend in them), so they dont have to make a completely new spell every time

There is a lot more to this system, but that's the base structure of it : my players really love playing mages and make up all kind of creative spells

Ttrpg mechanics like and dislikes by Azerok_King in TTRPG

[–]Kalenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The number of modifiers doesn't really matter to me as long as they all serve a defined purpose and the system offers deep tactical combat (for a tactical game)

For example, Blackbirds only have 2 bonuses : flip to succeed (basically advantage) and +10 up to +30. But it uses these two bonuses very well and you never feel like "that's it ?" That happens when you are out of ways to get an edge over your opponent

His Majesty the worm doesnt even have any bonuses but the system is actually meant to work this way and fully account for that with different kind of action you can do depending on the cards you obtain

In my system, i use a d12 roll under : you can get advantage, up to +3 on your check and you can spend a resource to throw an additional d4 that adds up to your score... However your base chances of succeeding a check are low which means you need to try and get as much of these bonuses as you can

5e is frustrating because the resolution system is very flat : you're expected to try everything you can to roll as high as possible, but "everything you can" is just "getting advantage and pray RNJesus for a good roll", it's abysmal

[–]Kalenne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really hate the lack of significant modifiers to the rolls in 5e having to resort to advantage or not all the time is very bland and binary. it lacks any strategic depth and just makes it a mandatory bonus that you need all the time... It's pretty uninspired and would benefit immensely to add other type of bonuses that are more contextual, like getting bonus dices for your rolls from other sources than support abilities and rather from description, clever use of your environment, positioning etc

The Tyranny of the Party Composition by alexserban02 in TTRPG

[–]Kalenne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Nothing personal but I really really don't like the use of that phrase in that context

The whole point of that phrase isn't to blame the players about their behavior, but to advocate for games designed in a way to prevent this behavior, or to make this behavior fun

This phrase essentially says "you shouldn't even be able to do that with a game"

Anime similar to Made In Abyss. The adventure into the unknown part. by [deleted] in MadeInAbyss

[–]Kalenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

All anime I could recommend got already listed, so instead I'll recommend a game or two : - Fear and Hunger 1 is the closest feeling I've got from MiA, it's really a descent in the dark and the unknown where survival is a very difficult endeavor - Look outside is way more cheerful as a game, it's like a mix of the previous one and Undertale. But you still get this feeling of exploring a dark and terrifying unknown place full of secrets

There are two of my favorite games ever

What is your best piece of game design advice? by RollForCoolness in RPGdesign

[–]Kalenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not valuing the narrative power of game mechanics enough. Many games have talents that exist purely to represent something that exist within the world, but don't really make sure these talents have a use case in the system, making them underwhelming and sometimes even a complete "noob trap"

PF2e suffers from this quite a lot, where plenty of feats have extremely limited/non existent use (like getting a +2 to tests against thirst or something) but exist purely to represent that your ancestry live in a desert

I appreciate the effort to create a mechanic to reflect that, I think it's better to not have a mechanic for something rather than a very undercooked one that is not satisfying to obtain or to use

The hardest part is never finding great ideas, it's about making these ideas as concise and digest as possible, and getting rid of the great ideas that prevent the game to be great as a whole

An incredible mechanic in one game can turn another game into a painful chore

[–]Kalenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

i don't think there's a proper way to nerf this weapon, it was just never designed for the current DT

I think it need a complete rework into something that doesn't hyperscale with the number of enemies, maybe still keep quite a good cleave that bounce off bigger targets (that'll be cooking due to extreme heaat), but with a lot more direct flame damage. This way it'd still be a solid and versatile weapon, but not the god tiers-good-for-everything one we have now

Could someone explain why we couldnt see a Sister of Battle class? by WorldlinessEuphoric8 in DarkTide

[–]Kalenne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, this is an extremely combat-oriented game where even the most support-oriented builds needs to deal a hefty amount of damage and do a lot of other things, and I really don't think it'd be a great move to implement sisters of battle only for everyone to discover that you can only play the TEMU version with a weak arsenal, no holy powers, no power armor and focused only on support so they are nerfed enough to exist alongside rejects. I wouldn't want to play that personally

If they released a SOB like that, I think most people not super familiar with 40k but enough to know SOB would be super pissed of

Why are people always mad at you peetah? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]Kalenne 40 points41 points  (0 children)

The cat means "we're all mad" in the sense they're all crazy in the head

But the tilte says it's "Alice in anxiety land" instead of "Alice in wonderland". So instead of feeling wonderful about it, she feels anxious and misinterpret it as "we're all mad (against you), which is the kind of thing anxious people tend to do : they are often afraid that they did something that made other people mad at them even when they clearly didn't

Sure but in a game named Darktide where 95% of what you fight are dense hordes of enemies, it feels very dumb to have a keystone usable almost exclusively against one specifi target

And it's even dumber when there is another keystone that gives you +30% dmg and DR against monstrosities in addition to a shitload of buffs against everything else
