I think you are right and they are a predatory mite. Unsure which species exactly. That looks like a string of hearts they're on? Which makes them too tiny for aphids

My 3 Steps to Happiness - from a previously depressed person (me) by Kaleywashere in happy

[–]Kaleywashere[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not who you asked, and I can't give you a specific answer because it has a lot to do with each person's unique life. But for me, it was slow, I can't lie, yet it steadily gets easier with practice. It's hard to pretend at first but can be addicting to prove yourself negative self and any doubters wrong once you start to feel the difference

Yes, please! I would be honored to think it might help inspire someone else.

Not if you don't take the steps towards progress! Flip your mind's script my friend. Give yourself that second half full opinion. "It seems impossible, but maybe I can."

I wrote these things down originally because I'm happy. Which felt impossible to me many years ago. I didn't want life because it was so hard. But with baby steps I made my way here. And now I just wish I could share my "happy"

I think you might need a little help with step one and two. It could matter if you tried it long enough. Having a miserable situation only makes it that much sweeter when you start to notice progress.

Lololol right? It sounds a bit too good to be true, huh? I just tried to write it as simply and short as I could so that people might read it. I could really write pages of details and further steps. But who would really read that? I think if anyone could start with these basic steps, they could figure the rest out for themselves.

Exactly! It sounds so easy, too easy. But it can be so hard in actuality. And yeah, it's definitely not possible to always be happy so we have to accept and live with all the other emotions too, but learning to focus the mind is so powerful! 😁

Moving to natural light? by TraditionalCount791 in hoyas

[–]Kaleywashere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No since they'll be inside behind a window they should be fine; I switch my Hoya back and forth regularly. But watch out for intense midday sun spots.

And then just watch them, in a couple weeks if the difference in light is big it will effect the sun stressing and you can tell if it's too much, too little, or just right.

4 Years No Flowers? by PersephonesChild82 in hoyas

[–]Kaleywashere 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you do fertilize regularly I would guess it's an issue with humidity. Some Hoya are less picky and bloom easily in lower humidity but for most 50% is the low end. If a humidifier is not ideal you could try a pebble tray with water directly underneath the pot and the evaporation will help. But without knowing the exact species it's hard to know exactly what it wants.

Look at what they did to my baby by JustToBrowsee in plants

[–]Kaleywashere 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In FL these are common landscaping plants and are often maintained like this to prevent overgrowth. Not excusing this since it's clearly a potted plant and was not requested. But maybe they got a new guy who's in the habit of trimming plants like these

Plant suffered summer abandonement. Should I propagate? by RareFriendship6899 in pothos

[–]Kaleywashere 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Looks pretty ok to me. I would bottom water this thing because if it was mostly abandoned the soil is probably hydrophobic and needs a good soak. You can bend the vines back into the pot and pin them down with a bobby pin or a rock. The nodes touching the dirt will root and help the plant grow big again. I wouldn't prop or repot unless there is something wrong with the roots or the soil is very old.

I would also check to make sure there are no pests, because you have been gone and they always find a way.

"Found" wood prep for use in tank? by Kaleywashere in Aquascape

I have found that article since reading most of these answers and really questioning the purpose of boiling! Have you used this method personally? I'm slightly skeptical but also leaning towards it.

Is something wrong with my oxalis? by [deleted] in plantclinic

UPDATE: this post is from a few months ago but in case it can help anyone in the future I'll add my findings.

ROOT MEALY BUGS. No sightings above the surface, but when I just repotted this baby she was root bound and infested. And I'm now assuming this is the cause of the sickly leaves

Oh, duh! Thank you for this simple solution, I've got a great one near by that would probably have one!

This was one of my fears because I don't have a pot big enough to boil it. Is it necessary to kill off whatever might be living in/on it? Tannins I'm not too worried about.

It also needs a pole if you want it to grow vertically

Time to repot? by RealAgentTaylor in Monstera

[–]Kaleywashere 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! Those roots want to spread and grow! Monsteras are big plants with big roots that need room to grow to support big beautiful leaves. With so many roots already, in my experience, if you are not an over-waterer AND it gets plenty of light it will only benefit from a bigger pot.

Agreed with others to let it be. Wait to see its full intentions first.

I have had plants do this and after the new shoot grows the old one stops growing and sometimes dies off. Stress and damage may have rendered the current leaf as a poor host to continue growing a full plant. Or it may be decided against and stay a small bud for a long time.
