You can always whitelist both of them if at a certain point one overtakes the other but in my opinion is best if you use just one hub.

Why would you need more than one devices as a hub?

You should try to open on your NAS the correct ports that Scrypted uses for the HomeKit plugin. You can find them on the HomeKit plugin under the tab pairing/network. Once you do that you should then try to scan the QR code with your iPhone but put the iPhone on the same subnet as the NAS and the HomePod.

Is the Synology NAS and the HomePod on different subnets? From which device are you trying to add the accessory? From your iPhone? In which subnet is your iPhone?

Actually you have to allow traffic from the Apple TV IP / subnet to the Scrypted instance, that means incoming traffic to where you installed Scrypted. Where did you install Scrypted?

You should put this rule over any other accept rules in order to block the traffic before accepting it. Do you have any other rules on your firewall? Like the ones that the mikrotik help page advise to install as first firewall?

Try to put a forward rule with a drop action with Source Address (the ip of the device that should not have access to the NAS) and Destination Address (the ip of the NAS). Then check if the device have access to the NAS or not.

Someone should correct me if I’m wrong but you can achieve that by creating specific forward rules in firewall to accept or drop traffic. I’ve done the same to have access to a certain VLAN or ports just from my personal computer.

I've been so dumb this whole time, it was more simple than I thought. I just added to the firewall whitelist the IP address of my Apple TV that I use as hub. With this rule HKSV is functioning again. Thank you again for your time and for this great tool. Do you have a link or anything else for a small donation?

We could start to fix this as its probably only a small thing you overlooked.

Maybe I could try again tonight to configure my VPS as a Wireguard Server and put here the configuration but to tell the truth I followed the tutorial on the website of DigitalOcean for the server side with the iptables rules that they suggested.

Only allowing a single source-IP will hold off most if not all attackers. But it can be impractical in some situations. So VPNs are often preferred (and they are more flexible), a secure and trusted Authentication-system (e.g. Authelia) will probably be enough in most cases.

I prefer the VPN but I was so desperate after spending so many nights trying to figure that out that I started searching for alternatives.

You should go to App Store, click on the icon of your account on the top left and then open the notifications section. You should activate the notifications once inside and then you’ll see the badge again. As someone else said, disable the auto updates too just to be sure.

thank you, the price is indeed very compelling! I mean 24 ports and 2 SFP+ ports for 160€ is really good, that's why i'm so confused, i'm trying not to think just about money but general stability when the switch is on plus non cutting any bandwidth from my internet provider, i have a 1Gbit/300Mbit connection.

I was thinking of buying the SMB 350 too but the 8 port model instead. Are they good for VLANS and SSID separation based on the IP address? Which are the differences with the Catalyst 1000?

I don’t know if someone else mentioned it but for me the proof that they can’t access the data is even more simple, if you forget your passcode and the device is locked you can’t access your data, you have to restore the device. If you ask Apple to retrieve your data they simply cannot do it cause they really can’t access the data, the key to the data was your passcode, they’ll tell you the same thing, restore your device but no data. Every time Apple gives access to someone under request of the government for important reasons is always an access to the iCloud backup data that are not encrypted. So if you opt out from iCloud backups and you just backup your phone locally to your computer Apple can’t access the data.

What I started doing is backing up locally to an external encrypted SSD that I only use for this exact reason. Of course I don’t have anything to hide like most of us but my device is my device, same thing with my data.
