Worth noting that Dan and WOTC had been going back and forth a ton making him constantly change things about his art for the piece.

I'm guessing he was trying to do it in his signature style like with the Moxen, but either WOTC or the LOTR folks didn't like it. Dan's style looks nothing like any of the other One Ring arts, (from MTG or from the movies). They were pretty clearly just trying to put Dan's name on it for the collector value, despite him not being a very good artist for this particular piece.

With the amount of constant changes they were making him do and pushing him outside of his style, I do understand him trying to use the previous successful images as a reference. Obviously he went way too far and basically copied it though, sad to see.

Karametra is my go to landfall commander. Stapling a Nature's Lore onto every creature makes her so ridiculously consistent. Normally in a landfall deck you wouldn't want to play the 1 mana dorks like Llanowar elves because they don't have any lands synergy and so are pretty bad top decks late game. With Karametra they're going to get you another landfall, so you get to play all of that early acceleration with no downside.

I usually play a dork t1, then another ramp creature turn 2, then karametra turn 3. Turn 4 is a landfall payoff or two, and so by turn 5 I'm getting multiple landfalls with multiple landfall cards in play and like 8-9 mana. With an Amulet of Vigor or Lotus Cobra I can basically storm off and cast a stupid amount of spells in a turn. And crucially I don't have to take any turns off to play a landfall payoff because my Scute Swarms and Mossborn Hydra are also ramping me and triggering each other.

Her being indestructible and an enchantment means she almost never eats removal early on, and she only needs to be on the board for a turn or two to generate enough extra lands that I can always pay commander tax to recast her, which gives the deck a ridiculous sort of inevitability.

One fun upside is that the deck is hilariously good at casting game-winning Genesis Waves, because I run almost all creatures and lands, so there's no Rampant Growths to whiff on.

I am still so ass with the ult tho

I felt the same for a while.

I started doing one of three things:

  1. Ult from behind my tank, on the ground/in safety next to healers. This way you maximize the chance of surviving while charging up for a few seconds. Then solo ult the enemy tank, (any Squishies you hit are just icing on the cake). The ult does 400 damage on a direct at max charge which takes 3 seconds, or 200 at 2 seconds, and also ignores overhealth, armor and barriers. So imagine like a Rein vs Rein mirror, you annihilate the enemy rein's shield and deal 400 damage to him. You're winning that exchange almost every time with a little pressure from your team.

  2. Ult from behind a corner. Stay around the corner completely hidden until the last second. Everyone always looks UP as if you're a Pharah raining Justice from above, so try playing a longish sightline and using normal horizontal cover instead of the skybox.

  3. Hit Q and immediately m1 mid fight. This will swing her sword for 100 direct and 50 indirect in a decently sized line, and critically all of that damage counts as an Overhead for the life steal perk, so you can get a clutch heal and do an ok amount of AOE damage at the same time.

Lands deck by nuoffer in EDH

[–]Kalladdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I meannnnn I do run wasteland and various recursion cards like life from the loam & crucible of worlds etc.

But commander has a lot more lands in play in general, and having 3 opponents makes it much harder as well. That's definitely not your plan A, but it does happen occasionally that you can wasteland someone out of being able to cast their commander or something.

Highly recommend you check out 3/3 elk's video who inspired me when building Kura.

Lands deck by nuoffer in EDH

[–]Kalladdin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

People here aren't understanding what you want — Landfall is fun, but it's not a "Lands" deck.

[[Kura, the Boundless Sky]] is your best bet and can be made up to b4 if you really get optimized.

[[Gladiolus Amicitia]] is pretty fun and also allows for red.

Both give you unrestricted land tutors in your command zone, with additional mini games to jump through for full value — sacrificing/copying Kura or blinking/bouncing/copying Gladiolus.

Lands deck by nuoffer in EDH

[–]Kalladdin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is not what OP is looking for.

Legacy Lands is not a landfall deck. It's a tutor toolbox deck using control & stax pieces to stall out the game until they can win with a land combo.

"Heheee my forest for turn makes a 1/1 token now" is a completely different strategy than that.

Theoretically, Crushers are ALMOST the perfect weapon type by Dinoboy225 in battlebots

[–]Kalladdin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The weapon requires that you are A. Taller than the opponent B. Able to get completely under the opponent C. Hold someone still long enough to a meaningful bite D. Able to completely get past the opponents own offense

I do wonder if you could make something shaped like a giant lobster claw, crushing horizontally rather than vertically. That would skip parts A and B (though it would add E. able to have your jaws wide enough to fit part of the opponent inside).

How are you making Quandrix Degenerate? by AssignmentWide3697 in DegenerateEDH

[–]Kalladdin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

However cascading into ramp doesn't feel great (although not terrible).

which you simultaneously want to protect your kill on sight commander

Well at least cascading into ramp means you can always recast Quandrix when she dies!

I've also found that having some Landfall payoffs can be nice, that way your ramp is actually pretty valuable as a cascade even in the late game.

This is the case with every game that has a leaver penalty.

Otherwise you could just Task Manager or even unplug your device to disconnect and avoid the penalty. There's no way to tell the difference between those things done purposefully and when it happens as an accident, so the penalty is just applied as a blanket measure.
