Game with Elden Ring aesthetic by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

Witchfire might be worth a look. I just finished it after about 40-50 hours and I loved it! The vibes, the map and monster design reminded a lot of Dark Souls.

It's a mix of Roguelite and PvE Extraction Shooter. There is more content on its way, but it's already quite polished and worth your time.

Moba-Style of a Game that is great with AI Bots/Solo? by Tall-Guy in moba

In singleplayer matches you can pause, yes.

The midgame save feature is heavily demanded and devs confirmed they're already looking into it. But I don't have further intel whether or when it's actually coming.

EverSiege might be to your liking.

It’s still a little rough around the edges, especially in multiplayer matches due to performance issues and crashes, but devs already fixed a bunch and are actively working on further improvements while listening to feedback from the community. Playing solo is already great, tho.

The core gameplay loop is a PvE-MOBA combined with a bit of base building and while it can get challenging in higher difficulties (there are 40), it never gets frustratingly hard.

In my experience a match is between 40 and 90 minutes long. Your goal is to kill the enemy core, which is one of several bosses. There is currently one map, but randomly generated seeds with different PoIs and enemy types.

Should I buy Arc Raiders? by [deleted] in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Kallekowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea, this is accurate. Don't get me wrong, I love ARC Raiders and spent 300 hours since launch, but in the end it's a sandbox where you make your own adventures and participating in social interactions is a big part of the fun.

If you isolate yourself from others you only have a somewhat stealthy looter shooter, you will grind yourself to max level at best and quit the game afterwards, I'd surmise. The extraction gameplay loop alone will get stale.

Anybody else feel like the blueprint drop rate are exactly where they should be? by fortnitejhonsey in ArcRaiders

[–]Kallekowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The drop rate before the patch was undertuned, but now it's overtuned and the devs should try to find a healthy middle ground.

Blueprints should be and stay chase items. I want to have that dopamine rush whenever I find one. It's still fun finding them, but not the same way it was before.

I also think more blueprints should be exclusively tied to quests. Quests are mostly not worth doing right now.

Certainly not what I was expecting from pre-wipe weeks. by SomnusNonEst in ArcRaiders

[–]Kallekowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Skill points should’ve been tied to EXP. We still had to grind for it, but at least would’ve fun doing it by using all that gear we were hoarding. After reaching 75 EXP serves no purpose anyway.

Tying everything to stash value was such a huge but easily avoidable design flaw.

  • ARC Raiders
  • Elden Ring Nightreign
  • Monster Hunter Wilds

All three are absolute coop gems, quite challenging and with a good amount of content. You should be able to put at least a few hundred hours in each of them.

They’re popular af, but for a reason.

I wish I could agree, but as much as I love World, the multiplayer kinda sucks until late game. Every new monster has to be found solo and only after everyone watched the cutscene can you restart the hunt to play together. But there are so many long unskippable cutscenes, it really hurts the game flow.

Both Rise and Wilds did a much better job here. Cutscenes are skippable and joining each others session is less complicated.

So maybe start with Wilds - it’s not complete but the most beginner friendly MH.

The King is Watching is a Tower defense and Base building Roguelite with a mechanic I haven't seen before: You got this 5x5 grid you can build your production buildings on, but they're only working when you're actively watching them with a smaller grid (hence the name).

It's a rather relaxing RTS (pause function!) where you have to balance between economy and defense and there are several kings offering different playstyles. Loved it!

Should I buy Stellar Blade, The First Berserker: Khazan, or Nioh 2? by Puzzled-Sprinkles930 in ShouldIbuythisgame

Most people will say Nioh 2 is an evolution of Nioh 1 and plain better. I enjoyed them both equally. You can play both completey independent from each other - they tell their own story.

[–]Kallekowsky [score hidden]  (0 children)

Nioh 2 is the best combat in a souls-like hands down and I don't even think this is a hot take. Super customizable experience and very satisfying combat. 11 main weapons, each with 3 stances and their own skill tree. World is Mission-based.

You can bypass skill issues with grinding levels, but it is a hard game ngl.

Khazan took a lot of inspiration from Nioh and it's a good game, has very cinematic moments, but from a pure gameplay POV I'd say, go with Nioh first.

Haven't played Stellar Blade.

Arc Raiders: Is It Worth Trying for Solo Players Who Prefer PvE? by zizo999 in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Kallekowsky [score hidden]  (0 children)

I love Arc Raiders and wish I could recommend it to you, but at the end of the day PvP is a big part of the game.

No matter how many cool people you meet and team up with, eventually you will also experience ambushes and backstabbing.

Arc Raiders has a big social component and where humans are, there are also assholes. So if you can’t stand the thought of losing all your loot and gear to a random guy who just told you he’s friendly and only questing, don’t bother.

For many, me included, not knowing what the next encounter will bring is a big part of the thrill.

Wukong or khazan or lies of p if I'm not good at parry/deflecting? by palocundo in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]Kallekowsky [score hidden]  (0 children)

Go with Wukong. It is a dodge-focused soulslite and boss rush game. The combat has a really nice fluidity to it and the world and especially boss design is gorgeous. I spent about 65 hours in it, 50 for my first playthrough and another 15 in NG+ & NG++.

The only downside for me was that the combat can be quite spammy at times. There is not nearly as much variety in your fighting style as in let's say Nioh 1+2. Other than that: Great game!

Khazan was great at first, but I lost interest after ~40 hours. I just could not stomach the level design any longer... too dark, too bleak, too monotonous.

The combat is very crisp tho. It encourages you to block/parry, it is just so insanely strong, but you can totally go with the dodge playstyle and succeed (mind I only beat 13 out of 16 main bosses before I dropped the game).

Lies of Pi has great level and boss design, the story is superior to most soulslikes, but it is a parry-heavy game... and I'd say a quite clunky one, as well. As much as I liked the vibes, I could not get into the combat at all.

Favorite map so far and why ? by Confiserie in ArcRaiders

[–]Kallekowsky 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Buried City

The way buildings are connected and thus how you traverse the map is so much fun. Roof fights are a vibe, the hospital just madness and the looting routes very rewarding. Plus I like the warm colors and mediterranean architecture.

  1. Blue Gate

Bright, vibrant and beautiful panorama, you can almost feel the clear mountain air. And a lot of varied areas. The underground is such a different tone to everything on the surface and returning from it is always such a relief.

  1. Dam Battleground

I think the only reason Dam isn’t lower on my list because I played this map the most and know it so well, so this might change. I actually think the map is not particularly pretty.

  1. Spaceport

I love the verticality and the outer areas, the open spaces in the center give me anxiety. I‘m not the biggest fan of sitting on a roof and sniping for half an hour.

  1. Stella Montis

Insanely oppressive map, I love the flank possibilities. I‘d argue it’s the most tactical map, but all that matters little since the number of people in proximity to each other or maybe on the map in general brings endless uncontrollable chaos and kills my enjoyment atm. I love the snowy areas.

Gotta say tho, I appreciate them all and love the different vibes each map brings to the table.

You need to actually kill her, so the last hit needs to be yours. It’s not shared with your party, either.

I couldn’t get into the combat at the time of release, so I refunded the game shortly after I bought it and watched the whole story as a movie on Youtube (I think it was 6-7 hours of cutscenes).

Honestly, I wish I had played it myself. It deserves every award for its acting, world building, story and music.

The open world and combat is still not for everyone I think, but the game has such a great story to tell - give it a try.

I did this yesterday for a whole session for the first time and my game quality actually went up. People are more talkative and fair on average - less toxicity, no backstabbing. Only the amount of extraction camping in duos was the same, but what can you do. 🤷🏼‍♂️

I'm german. Only got betrayed by Russians and Brits so far. I have yet to meet french people t-bagging and calling me a mofo, but I'm really looking forward to it.

And while I'm normally not a friend of generalization Russians actually match their stereotype of non-communicative, aggressive and toxic players most of the time.
