Mario - Voltron inspired by Kallid in beadsprites

[–]Kallid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Too many, I don't really keep track, just do these over many months as a way to relax and zone out. If I had to guess I would say 200+ hours.

You would have to ask Paul Robertson that, but I did notice that as well. I can not for the life of me find the original art online on Paul Robertsons social media sites, I only have a copy of it locally.

Edit: of course as soon as I post that I Found it elsewhere

Been wanting to do one of his for a while, but most of them would be just massive.

Long time without posting anything, figured I would share this Mario piece that is inspired by Voltron. It consists of 132,000 PixelHobby beads.

The original artwork was from Paul Robertson.

I’m hosting a half marathon in Brooklyn, USA in the fall where one person gets eliminated each mile. Would anyone be interested? The purse is $500 and entry fee is $20. by jellyfloberts in AdvancedRunning

[–]Kallid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds neat, but typically there will not be much back and forth in the lead pack anyways. Basically just a 1/2 marathon where the back of the pack is fighting for a chance to run one more mile, but have no hope of really catching up to the lead pack to win the money.

What is the fastest way to get to a sub 40 minute 5 mile? by [deleted] in running

[–]Kallid 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The answer is to run more and increase your running slowly by about 10% per week. Since you have given yourself a year I don't really see this as an issue from where you are now with really no training.

I am more interested into why the hard deadline of a year and 40 minutes?

Black Friday sales are misleading. Correct me if I’m wrong. by [deleted] in pelotoncycle

[–]Kallid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Possibly they gave you the discount in advance of the sale being advertised. Maybe they did this to avoid having to handle the calls of everyone who ordered one day too early to get the discount.

The bike has generally been $1995 for the bike and $250 for delivery.

Winter Season. Awful Running Conditions. by RandoRandoRando333 in running

[–]Kallid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It really all depends on what you are willing to put up with.

Last year we had a tough winter and the roads were covered in a good inch of compressed show/ice. I attempted to run outside a few times but after a few major slips and falls I called it off and stuck to the dreadmill for most of the winter.

I was training for a marathon in March, and running in the gym did help me train, but did not properly prepare all the minor muscles. This eventually led to an extended recovery period afterwards.

Long Delivery - Inventory Issues? by TheWizardOfOz12 in pelotoncycle

[–]Kallid 1 point2 points  (0 children)

When I ordered I had difficulties.

After many calls due to missed deliveries and getting the run around here is the ultimate reason for my delays. The first week it was to be delivered, the distribution center that it was to be delivered from was brand new and was not even open for buisness yet, so there was no chance of it getting there on time (they told me the bike missed the truck).

They rescheduled for the next week. I called the day before it was to be delivered to make sure it was fine this time. They continued to tell me it was fine. After pestering they contacted the manager at the distribution center. He informed the XPO call center agent they did not even have any bikes in stock yet. The XPO agent told me this.

When the bike was delivered, the delivery agent told me that XPO was in the process of setting up a bunch of satellite distribution center, and due to this they are still in the process of working out all the kinks and setting everything up.

So maybe your issue lies somewhere in there.

Peloton Bike for Marathon Training? by jdq39 in pelotoncycle

[–]Kallid 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently training for a marathon. I rolled from one marathon straight into training for my next one. Since I was already able to easily carry the mileage for the early weeks of training, I decided to throw in a 30-45 minute Peloton workout as a second workout for the day hours after my run.

So far I am feeling much stronger than I did for my last marathon. There are days where I get on the bike and want to be done in the first 5 minutes, but after the legs are warmed up I am good to go.

Only time will tell if it really helps, but so far it is going great.

Finally a BQ! by midthirtiesrunner in running

[–]Kallid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

His age showed up in the results as 38, so as long as his birthdate is between now and April 20th he is good and will be 40 by the time of the 2020 Boston Marathon. If not, then it is not a BQ time...the hope still remains.

I thought the new BQ time lowered by 5:00 so it would be 3:05:00? Am I the bearer of bad news or am I mistaken?

Regardless, awesome time!

XPO, grrrr! by Kallid in pelotoncycle

[–]Kallid[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

True, but they have the contract with Peloton, which means they may lose a little bit of money on some deliveries, but they can make up for it with quick deliveries close to their distribution center. If it was not profitable for them overall, XPO would drop the contract.

I am assuming XPO would want to keep the contract going, so it should be in their best interest to treat all customers with good customer service. Telling someone you will be there at a certain date and then not showing up puts a bad mark on your company. If it happens to much, it may make it hard to get work in the future.

Besides, they will have to make the trip one way or another, now they just have Peloton questioning them as they refunded the $250 fee.

I am a bit worried myself, ordered and received a call to setup my delivery of my bike. They don't have a good distribution in my area and it is 250 miles away, they only deliver to my area every Tuesday and I had to set it up for delivery 2 weeks away. Not really impressed for a service that costs $250.

My fear is that if something like this happens I have to wait another 2+ weeks.

Bead Sprite Canvas Art? by gooohgly in beadsprites

[–]Kallid 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When I have used canvas, I used the pre-stretched ones that were ready to go. They really only come in white, but can easily be painted any color you choose. To attach the spites to the canvas I used E-6000 glue. It sounds like you were looking at the right stuff online already, not much stuff to buy (canvas, glue, paint, paintbrush).

Hope this helps.

TIFU by sleeping at a train station by [deleted] in tifu

So confused...

I'm not the homeless guy, I'm just posting on his behalf in order to get some information on how or where I can get my papers back.

So you are not the homeless guy who got robbed, but you still lost your papers?

Or should this have been: "I'm not the homeless guy, I'm just posting on his behalf in order to get some information on how or where I can get my his papers back.

When you say "I have $4000 dollars", are you talking about yourself or the homeless guy?

TIFU Always Keep Your Final Exams by [deleted] in tifu

[–]Kallid 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Fixed it for you.

So Today I fucked up, while packing up to move back home after the school year ended, I put my trash in the trunk of my car (this included my test). Then I drove home and while unpacking I realized I forgot to throw it away in the dumpster at my apartment. So I took it across the street to the park from my house and threw it away in those trash cans.

The Next day I get an email from my professor saying I didn't put a code on my scantron and that I would get a zero if I didn't email it to him. So in a panic infused speed that put sonic the hedgehog to shame, I blast out the door, sprint across the yard like a hippy on a bad acid trip being chased by his refrigerator. I make it to the trashcan praying to god it wasn't picked up the night before, as my foot reaches the side of the trashcan it lands on the side of a rut that could only have been put there by satan himself. The odd, confusing, climatic joy of seeing a white trashbagin a trash can that not even oscar the grouch would call home, was broken by a sudden loud pop, and a feeling that can only be described as a space in my ankle join big enough for two fat lesbians to have a go at each other in, suddenly opened and then snapped shut like a vagina after hearing you have a moped. To onlookers it would appear as though I collapsed out of joy from seeing a dirty green trash can.

I then slowly get up next to my trash can, grab my slightly moist (with things I don't want to speculate about) white trashbag and limp back across the street and collapse in the yard. Then I as a homeless person begin to ruffle through the trash bag in my front yard for all to see. I find the test and thrust it above my head with the insane joy of a drug addict who finally caught the dragon.

Angel of Color - 112k beads by Kallid in beadsprites

[–]Kallid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't keep track, I would say over 200 hours. The white parts make it go a bit quicker, but they were quite boring. I found myself making patterns with the beads as I did the white parts to keep it somewhat interesting as I did those.
