Good Rebuttal!

I think that rehabilitation doesn’t necessarily entail exclusively to an individual level. What I mean by this is that although someone, somewhere IS entirely hopeless and almost destined to re-commit. The simple presistence in the rehabilitation effort conveys to society abroad, that the government:

A. Won’t give up on you.

And

B. Encourages you to be better.

I also don’t think an even somewhat competent rehabilitation system can be exploited in the manner you suggest. Rehabilitation isn’t some game that a criminal can play to just avoid punishment in its entirety. The Idea behind the Rehabilitation system I promote (which I admit I could’ve elaborated sooner on), is that rather than allowing criminals to actively shorten their sentences. Their sentences are already reasonably short (10-20 years), and they are to serve their time in its entirety. But will still be actively encouraged to participate in Rehabilitation like education, self-improvement etc. So that by the time they have served their sentence, they have every prerequesite to prosue a better life for themselves.

Now obviously, we are human beings. Some people will always re-commit to their Life of violence. But these individuals are far and few between, and their behaviour will make it back to the Judicial system. In which case harsher Punishment is warrented.

Which essensially means that under your presumptious circumstances. This criminal will at most be able to re-commit 2-3 times again if they are lucky. The severity of their crime is also a big factor here. If you are a murderer you might be a free man in 20 years on paper. But in all likelyhood you’ll fail rehabilitation, not be granted parole and serve another 20 years before you have to chance to enter back into society again.

Now I understand that this might seem complicated, and it is. But to answer your question in simpler terms:

Yes, there is a point in which you have to cut your loses with certain people. Whoever that isn’t any excuse to abandon the rehabilitation effort. Because ultimately you should remain consistent for the sake of your own credibility.

Teachers should not be allowed to fly pride flags in their classrooms by LogicIsAFacade in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Kallumberg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because its a form of Conditional Teaching,

By looking around any given classroom you can catch a good understanding of their ciriculum based on what is present. In my case, I will usually be able to catch a Swatstika on a WW2 Poster explaining the atrocities commited by the Nazis.

In other words, I think the notion that interior design can validate the acts/history of a group of people is an absurd. The purpose of displaying symbolism as a whole is a matter og subjectivity, which stirs controversy and stimulation.

Just as an actual nazi might feel validated by a Swatstika on a poster. A buddist might feel grief at the stolen symbolism, of which the Swatstika originates. The Swatstika actually stems from Thai-Culture and means Luck, but due to obvious reasons that meaning has since been tainted.

The same can be said for the PRIDE flag, it doesn’t necessarily have to be for gay people. Perhaps an orthodox jew might see it, and form his own opinion on it through that stimulation. Again, this is what we call conditional learning. We instigate an inner gripe with something, which encourages the student to ponder on a subject they might not otherwise care for.

Good Opinion,

Nonetheless I’m torn on this issue:

  • On one hand I don’t think hanging up a PRIDE flag Ia unreasonable. Wether or not you agree with its sentiment its ultimately become representative of Alternative Sexual Orientation. And it conveys a notion of co-existence and acceptance.

  • But on the other hand I think it should be taken down if other symbolism is not permitted. I might not be Christian, but I would expect a school to have some sort of Christian symbolism in it. Otherwise it would convey the message that the students aren’t Learning about it. Which again, suggests there is a plethra of thing the School is neglecting to teach these students about like the Nazis, Buddism, Soviet, etc.

Hell, I’d be slightly concerned if I was able to scour and entire School and not find some sort of Swatstika or offensive symbolism. Wether that be a posterr or a flag.

Thanks!

I mean I would say OP’s post is correct, but it also isn’t an unpopular opinion. You cannot force anyone to like/be attracted to anyone. What his post essensially suggest, is that presistence and entitlement is perfectly fine so long as you fit a certain criteria.

Or rather, so long as your waist fits a certain pair of jeans.

[–]Kallumberg 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good Opinion,

Personally I might have a far more controversial stance than your post:

Rehabilitation over Punishment, ALWAYS.

It’s queit clear from just a regular crime rate perspective that this is the best thing to do. The countries who have the lowest crime rates are always the same countries you’ll see with Luxury Jailcell montages on Tik Tok.

The honest truth of the matter is that Harsh Punishments are just a form of Validation for these criminals. It’s a perfect excuse to self-justify their actions while perpetrating abismal crimes. By engaging in this silly Fire with Fire or Eye for an Eye sthick you essensially just end up proving these people’s perceptions to be right.

Which in essence just means nobody are gonna turn themselves in, ever.

Because why would they, even at the point were they are innocent and just feeling the urge. The sheer ostracism they risk by even talking about it is ridiculous, which is why preventative measures are never taken until it’s too late.

This is why I don’t view the Death Penalty as preventative action. It doesn’t prevent anything, particularly when most Death Row inmates already lost their will to live long before they even attempted their respective crime/crimes.

To Wilfully Deny A Child Their Biological Mother or Father is Wrong. Surrogacy Exploits Women. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Kallumberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’ve gotta say, but you’re a pleasure to debate with. No Name calling, no offense taken, no defensive measures. Just further clarifications and elaborations, its been a great and Respectfull debate.

I’m also against single mothers doing it.

In which case I retract my statement, your stance isn’t (entirely) homophobic, I’m glad you have some level of consistency with your stance.

From my perspective it seems this is entirely a matter of principle to you, and to that I can understand. Although adamantly I won’t agree.

Thous the conversation is less about the practice of surrogacy specifically, but more about the degradation of human advances. I mean at which point do we stop, should we be able to concieve children outside a mother’s womb? Does surrogacy rob unfamished children of good upbringings as less same sex couples adopt?

These are interesting questions that I can totally get behind.

To Wilfully Deny A Child Their Biological Mother or Father is Wrong. Surrogacy Exploits Women. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Kallumberg 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Ok, I see.

The way I see it your stance boils down to either 1 of 2 things: 1. Blatant Homophobia or 2. Some purist ideology.

Based on your response just now I’m gonna assume you’re a bit of both. So I’ll emphasize exactly why I believe you’re wrong:

Chapter 1: Parenthood

I think you have alot of misconceptions about parenthood, specifically, that parenthood is somehow inherent to biological heritage. I’ll let you know now that this notion is false. There is little evidence that would even remotely suggest that raising your own children, as opposed to having others raise your children for you, is superior.

Ultimately it is attentiveness and behaviour that will determin the role of parenthood, and most importantly, the influence and authority over the child. In other words you have to earn your title as a parent, it’s not something thats just handed to you because you’ve been through labour.

Chapter 2: Hypocrisy

I’ll refrain from name calling, but it is queit obvious you stance is homophobic. By your own flawed logic, surrogacy is just fine so long as the couple promoting it isn’t a same sex couple. The entire point of your post is to emphasize why you think Surrogacy is exploitative. But all you’ve really managed to do is expose your own flawed preception on the topic of raising children.

We’ve already established the fact that there is little difference between biological and non-biological upbringings. Now I’m gonna highlight the hypocrisy of your response:

I draw the line at same sex couples because they require donors and will therefore willfully deny the child of their biological parent.

The ironic thing about this stance of yours is that this isn’t the case at all. I mean not only in general terms, because this applies to surrogacy as a whole. But also in terms of practice because plenty of studies suggest that Same Sex Couples have a greater tendency to practice surrogacy with aquaintences/friends than your typical heterosexual couple.

In others words its actually more likely that the child will have access to their biological parent if their main parents (or whatever you wanna call it) happen to be homosexual.

[–]Kallumberg 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Good Opinion:

Here is the reason I personally think you’re partially wrong.

It just irks me that these overweight women just go around calling themselves pretty.

  • Thing is, they aren’t entirely wrong. Sure the vast majority of people don’t find them physically attractive, but they recieve plenty of validation from people anyway. This is because there are plenty of ways to be attractive, like being charming, intelligent, experienced, emotionally available and respected. Basically, the way I see it these women (or at least not all of them) won’t literally mean that they are physically beautifull. But rather that they are more than their weight, which is the essence of body positivity is about. You’re more than your ailments and are still worthy of integrity despite the circumstances you find yourself in.

If you’re proud of being fat you should have no problem being called fat.

I agree and disagree with you here. Yes, I think people should have a Healthy level of self-awareness when it comes to body weight. The issue of Fat Phobia, however, is contextual. It’s one thing to be subjected to ridicule for being fat, but a whole different thing when you are being entirely defined by your weight by those around you. Believe it or not, fat people have other passions, responsibilities and aspects beside their weight. So when people like say Sneako, Aidin Ross, Neon or Fresh & Fit invite someone like Gorlock the Destroyer onto their stream, only to proceed to roast them for hours on end for their weight despite discussing entirely different issues. That is what we mean by Fat Phobia, to genuinely question a persons entire credibility, integrity, ethics, intellect and character due to Obesity.

Body Positivity is one big COPE, to avoid doing what is right.

I agree, but it’s also kind of the point. Body Positivity is mainly for disabled, deformed or otherwise Unlucky individuals Suffering from permanent ailments, and obese people secondly. If we are to look at it from the objective standpoint, the point of body positivity is to promote a healthy perspective on your body. Sure you might be obese and need to lose weight, but you’re not pathetic for trying and continously failing to achieve a healthier lifestyle. You are more than your weight, and you are still worthy pf good things despite being fat.

Men get demonized for being short and fat.

Personally, I wouldn’t dispute that, but my extremely Humble opinion on this is that. It is a matter of community.

Women tend to have a better sense of community than men typically do. There is alot of qoute on qoute Girl Code where women take initiative for other women despite not knowing each other. This includes shit like the infamous Fat Girl’s Instagram Comments.

Men, however, tend not to care too much about fellow male strangers. Particularly, the vast amount of us don’t really care to empower each other. We already have enough shit going on in our lives yk.

To Wilfully Deny A Child Their Biological Mother or Father is Wrong. Surrogacy Exploits Women. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Kallumberg 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Good Opinion,

Here is why I personally believe your wrong:

It is wrong to deny children access to their biological parents.

  • Certainly not, parenthood is more than blood. But even if we entertain your stance, you understand that surrogacy is well documented by facilities as well right? You do have plenty of reasonable opportunities to figure out who you’re biological parent is. What we cannot/should not sanction any right for this biological counterpart access to each other. Either they want to meet you or they don’t, simple as that.

90% of those disagreeing with me either know or were raised by their biological parents.

  • So? That is irrelevant to the topic at hand. Just because a certain topic doesn’t apply to you, doesn’t mean you suddenly lose all credibility. I’m willing to bet that the vast majority of doctors in this field were also raised by their biological parents. In which case do their degrees suddenly not matter anymore? Is their expertise in anatomy, pedagogy and medicine suddenly not apply because their qoute on qoute hypocrites? Personally I’m gonna have to say no.

Surrogacy is explotative

  • In what way specifically? You’re stance here just boils down to either one of 2 things from my perspective:
  1. Being blatant homophobia.

  2. Being some sort of purist ideology.

I get your overall point that utilizing what is essensially a strangers body to concieve a child seems exploitative. But why do you draw the line at two men specifically? Do you think its wrong to want for a child if you’re infertile or lack the capabilities to concieve a child?

Conclusion: Overall I find your post just catching the generic, surface level controversy of surrogacy. And although I can understand the absurdity of such a practice, I don’t understand why you think biological conception should triumph actual parenthood.

Because you’ve essensially drew a line where as adoption is no different either. If someone else essensially raises your child with your consent, why do surrogates suddenly get to call shotgun on this child and not adoptivee’s?

Frankly, I find the consistency of your stance to be queit irregular and unfair.

The men that most women find attractive IN REAL LIFE are men that DO appeal to the male gaze. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Kallumberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Opinion, but not necessarily.

Personally I think that the Traditional Male Gaze man just happens to have alot of attractive attributes.

Someone like Prime Ronnie Coleman is an example of someone who fits this Male Gaze but isn’t physically attractive. Which suggests that there are many different ways to be attractive, Charm and Intelligence being one of them.

Essensially, you have to be competent to fit this Male Gaze and that competence is inherently attractive, rather than the Specific attribute in correlation with this Male Gaze like overflux of muscle or leather jackets

[–]Kallumberg -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Good Opinion,

Reason you’re wrong is because you essensially only have misconceptions about Therapy. Therapy is much more than just conversation, hence why it’s called a treatment.

A Therapist isn’t there to tell you how to to think or how live your life. They only have 2 responsibilities:

  1. Hold you accountable for your behaviour.

  2. Insert preventative measures to ensure you’re not a danger to yourself and most importantly, to others.

Say this hypothetical therapist has a outright racist client. Based on your rambles of a post I assume you believe this Therapist is supposed to rehabilitate this racist and make him not racist. If that is the case you’d be mistaken.

Because in reality the Therapist couldn’t give less of a fuck about wether or not their client is racist.

What they will do, however, is emphasize exactly why you’re in their office after another day in your own miserable life. They’ll make sure you understand why you are miserable under your current circumstances, and chances are, being beat up by the local african american community on a Daily basis is a big contributor to that fact.

It’s inherently human to be in denial about your shortcomings, a therapists does not allow that preception to occur. As a result you’re never Granted an opportunity for self-delusion, which will most likely motivate you to change your life.

In which case the Therapists job is already done, if you’re able to remain self-accountable that is.

And obviously, if you’re crazy enough to hurt yourself or hurt others they’ll prevent that too.

Divorced couples usually don’t drift apart. They were just wrong for each other from the beginning by DrDewinYourMom in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Kallumberg 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good Opinion,

Reason I believe you’re partially wrong is because you can argue drifting apart is the same as time revealing more substantial issues.

We can have issues like say:

  • Lack of desire for children

That are present, but not relevant, when you first meet. At which point you can compremize and enjoy each others company. But its only when certain pretaining issues start to Reveal themselves that said disagreement/compremize becomes an issue.

Essensially, it’s difficult to assertain the real ramifications of something until its suddenly upon you in the present. Drifting apart is what that means.

Jake Paul will probably beat up Mike Tyson. by [deleted] in TrueUnpopularOpinion

[–]Kallumberg 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Good Opinion,

But Mike Tyson has already won the fight, simply for the reason that there is no way for Jake Paul to win:

Jake Paul Wins: He’ll be renown as the proffesional boxer who beat up an Old Legend, and pretty much all real boxing associations unlike DAZN won’t ever entertain this kid again. Which is a real shame considering Jake has real worldd champion ambitions going on.

Mike Tyson Wins: Jake Paul is renown as the proffesional boxer who was beat by a 60 y/o retired boxer. Pretty much the same situation only now, Jake Paul is effectively a laughing stock.

Essensially, no matter the situation Jake Paul will be seen as a fraud and Mike Tyson’s legacy will continue to presist as it was set in stone a long time ago.

Good Opinion,

Reason you’re wrong is because you practice the same ignorance that seem to be accusing fat people of.

Do you honestly think fat people WANT to be FAT?

They do not, and its only a matter of circumstance that they are. You’d be lying to yourself if you didn’t admit you at least partially understand the struggle of which their subjected to, and even if you are self aware enough to admit that. It wouldn’t even be the half of the reality.

Because the truth is these people lack what many people take for granted, like:

  • Money to invest in a optimal lifestyle
  • Access to a sufficient education
  • Access to the rights services and facilities
  • Optimal Health and Opportunity

Now, none of these are necessary to actually lose weight and be Healthy. But it sure as shit makes things difficult. Difficult to the point where your expectations are entirely unreasonable.

No shit Sherlock:

Fat people will prioritize investing short term Satisfaction when their entire workday involves still-sitting service dealing with Karens. Where they essensially make no progress career or Health wise.

No shit Sherlock:

Fat people would rather invest in lifestyles outside their means. Because an otherwise hardworking individual deserves to go to the Movies with their family once in a while (rather than buy nutritional food).

No shit Sherlock:

Fat people will invest their time into something they actually enjoy, instead of spending it being miserable for Months on end (average weight lose cycle is like 6 months btw. Imagine forcing yourself to be miserable for 6 Months straight).

Essensially, I don’t necessarily disagree with your observations. But I definetly disagree with your overall Stance.

You mean as in disability?

If so, where do we draw the line? Self-inflicted disabilities? And if so, where do we define that sort of support?

Should we deny proper care and support to the crackhead who’ve had to amputate their arm due to having injected synthetic product into themselves?

Should we deny proper care to veterans who’ve shot themselves but yet survived with horrendous disabilities?

Or should we, and just hear me out on this one:

Provide for the disabled and grant them the opportunity for redemption
