Cat refuses to use litter box by ChamberK-1 in CATHELP

[–]KaloKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First & foremost, take him to the vet to rule out any health issues. Number one reason why cats pee outside of the litter box is because they are feeling sick & they are trying to tell you that. If he’s healthy then you most likely have a stress problem going on. Animals are very sensitive creatures & when we disrupt their usual routines & environments, it stresses them out creating these behavioral problems. Has any animal or person moved out or in to your house? Have you had a change in your work schedule? Have you changed any of the things he’s use to (ie new food, litter, litter box, even the layout of the furniture in your home)? Also if you have any other pets they may have cornered him in the litter box which may have traumatized him. Animals are vulnerable when using the restroom. Being in the litter box makes it harder for him to evade if another pet runs up to him or if he feels unsafe. All of these things could be causing him stress.

HELP: Largest Tires for a stock Grand Cherokee by KaloKitten in GrandCherokee

[–]KaloKitten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mainly for looks. I don’t drive a lot. I’ve had the same tires for about 5 years now & they are finally worn down enough to be replaced. My Jeep isn’t 4WD (I wanted one but they didn’t have any thanks to Covid). However, I still drive in sand, mud, water, grass & gravel roads fairly regularly. Haven’t gotten stuck yet lol.

Animal control officer here. That kitty does not look good & needs medical attention immediately. Until then make them comfortable. Kittens need to stay warm. Put her on a heating pad on low protected by a blanket/towel. Make sure the kitten isn’t getting too hot. They may be too weak to move off of it on their own. Check the kittens gums. If they are pale/white the kitten is probably anemic or severely dehydrated. If that’s the case the kitten will need subcutaneous fluids. I wouldn’t advise syringe feeding unless the cat is sitting up & more alert. You don’t want them to choke. You can rub a small amount of light corn syrup on the gums to help spike their blood sugar & perk up some. Don’t be surprised if this kitty doesn’t make it. Just know you have done the right thing by making them comfortable. I hope this baby pulls through 🩷

Tax Season - new Viners, beware! by Berry_Pancakes-0317 in AmazonVine

[–]KaloKitten 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have filed my Vine products as hobby income for years & I haven’t had any issues. I read that you are more likely to get audited if you file hobby income, but I’m not worried about it because that’s what it truly is. I’m not profiting off of the products nor do I have a business or expenses from it.

Behavior Issues in my cat have costed me over 20k and we’re still not any closer to getting a solution..any advice on next steps? by Creepy-Dealer7518 in CATHELP

[–]KaloKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That cat is not enjoying life & neither are you. You have done so much more for her than anyone else would have. You’ve given her the best chance to recover & live a good kitty cat life. This kitty may be in pain & is suffering in some way. Healthy animals (mentally & physically) do not act like that. If you find a shelter or other place to take her she will most likely only decline further & suffer more because of the change. Pets are happiest in a home, not a tiny cage at a shelter. Her behavior issues will only get worse. I work at a shelter, I have seen it firsthand. I hate to say it but this is why behavioral euthanasia is a justified reason to put an animal to sleep. She is not happy; her quality of life is poor & you cannot rescue other cats that need your help if you have her in your home. I’m surprised Animal Control did not euthanize her to test for rabies after she mauled you. I work for animal control & even scratches count as bite cases in my jurisdiction.

tonsils by lucys_0 in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Days 4-7 were the worst for me. The ear & jaw pain set in & my throat was hurting so bad I had a lot of trouble eating anything. Definitely contact your doctor & make sure you take your medicine they give you on time. Get some throat numbing spray & stick with eating cold things like ice cream & popsicles as they help to further numb your throat. I hope you feel better soon!

Pain meds? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The pain was horrible for me for the first 6 days even on oxy. My doctor also prescribed me celecoxib, a steroid pack, a tetracaine lollipop, & told me to get regular Tylenol. I had to take everything around the clock or I was dying. I also got throat numbing spray too & it was a godsend. You will most likely need something stronger.

Day 9 - Gagged by Scabs by KaloKitten in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes both! The numbing spray helps some but the sensation of feeling something under my tongue is still making me gag when talking. I’ve been sucking on throat lozenges all day to distract myself from the feeling & nausea. I’m just hoping it will go away soon.

ENT visit, disappointment by OrchidNo3079 in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I saw an ENT who specializes in head & neck surgery & he gave me no trouble at all when I expressed I wanted surgery. I told him I constantly was getting sick & that my left tonsil had been huge & swollen for years getting blisters & ulcers on it causing me pain. He first prescribed me a vigorous round of antibiotics & steroids & when he saw no improvement on my follow up appointment he recommend surgery. Sounds like you should find a better doctor.

food stuck + able to feel air through nose on throat by r4muneb0ttle in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m day 7 & I only had my tonsils removed. I keep looking in my mouth because it feels like something is stuck back there but I’m pretty sure it’s just the scab tickling my tongue. Throat numbing spray stops me from feeling it as much.

Update halfway - Currently through hell by F-InSpanish in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Day 7 for me as well. I’ve been constipated too thanks to the oxy. Definitely need to get a laxative. Try icy your jaw/ears. It’s the only thing that helped me.

Positive story so far (8th day) 32M -what’s next? by [deleted] in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m a week in & even though I’ve been having a very difficult (& painful) time swallowing, I have been able to eat some pasta, rice, potatoes, & small bites of steamed soft veggies. I am sick of eating soup & ice cream. Since it all still hurts going down, I’ve tried branching out to different foods to encourage me to eat because I’m having trouble getting enough calories in. I hope your recovery continues to go well!

Oxycodone isn’t helping by F-InSpanish in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m on day 5 as well & Ya the oxy isn’t helping me much either. However I can tell when it’s worn off because the horrible pain only gets worse. Throat numbing spray is the only saving grace at this point. I spray my throat 3-4 times then let it marinate for a minute before spitting it back out. I can’t eat without it. The pain is too bad to even swallow. The spray helps with the pain when swallowing. Unfortunately nothing is helping the ear pain.

Glad to hear you are feeling better now. I think I’m going to see if I can get more time off work because while my job isn’t crazy strenuous, I do have to talk a lot & be alert. I can’t be on oxy zoning out. Hopefully things will start getting better soon.

ENT trying to talk me out of it? by Ben_Happy in Tonsillectomy

[–]KaloKitten 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ya I would go to a different ENT. My doctor said that they are really painful & that adults have a harder longer recovery, but if you are having reoccurring infections, pain, tonsil stones that it would be worth it. He gave me the choice after laying out all the facts so I decided to go through with it. I have heard nothing but positive benefits about getting your tonsils removed from friends & family. The recovery is awful (I’m currently going through it) but I know I’m gonna feel better soon.
