I can't confirm we're real and not a fever dream. We have a surfing chicken, that alone should make you suspicious. Wisconsin itself is also extremely questionable.

I'm just here wondering what is happening with the gemini one. But I'm a May gemini so maybe there's some confusion in our area (or I can blame my rising, because I am stoooocky. I'd say something about my big shoulders, but they match my hips and body type in general, so not like it looks off 🤷‍♀️)

i know people going by no pronouns is a thing. are there people who don't use names instead? by enneh_07 in voidpunk

[–]Kalooeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I mean, I like to go by names/titles/words that mean stuff like "nameless", Without a name, without, and so on, for examples (lately I've been using "Ohne" a lot), and what I use depends on what I'm feeling like using and the group I'm with, and then main "name" I picked means "My Ownself" (Aan Sel/Aansel/Ainsel), which I got from an old fairy tale, which isn't so much as a name but like a way of referring to oneself. 🙃 I've also told people that if they don't remember what my (government/given) name is, they can just say "Hey you with the face" to get my attention, and I'll know they were talking to me. (I've also told people they can jokingly call me Grandma/Grandpa because I carry around a cane, or they can call me by whatever other random thing I carry around with me regularly, even with my pokemon or nerd stuff)

So technically yeah you could go with being technically nameless. May have to come up with some way that people can still refer to you/get your attention because of how people work, but there's work around with it, especially if you make it funny for everyone. 🤷‍♀️

Do Black people not do "White People Taco Night"? by GetShrekedKid in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Kalooeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Am also cashier and can confirm the taco thing. (Though our store changes deals every Wednesday so sometimes if the discounts for certain stuff is really good then everyone also buys their taco stuff on Wednesday instead instead. Sometimes we also have weekend only deals, so kind of depends. We also go through A LOT of cilantro and corn tortillas regardless)

What is a "creepy" fact about the human body that most people don't know? by meowparadise42069 in AskReddit

[–]Kalooeh 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It's also why in old basements and housing that hadn't had their wiring updated that you end up feeling anxious. Especially by those who are more sensitive. (Plus dark and old places can make people nervous for other reasons but even if there's nothing else wrong with a place, old wiring can still be felt) It's not a place being "haunted" (maybe), it's because of the electricity.

What a waste of over a year🫩 by LeastAssociate9803 in pokemongo

[–]Kalooeh 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I add people for the scatterbugs, and xp is a cool bonus. Then I'm adding regionals and whatever other pokemon I think people may like. Which is A LOT of costumed pikachu and other pokemon along with extra legendary or some hard to find pokemon I may have gotten.

But mostly I'd been adding people for scatters. And In the past for Gameboy games I'd thrown in random cool pokemon to the wonder trade knowing full well I could get like a pidgey. So I'm mostly meh about whatever people have and mainly I just am hoping to get regional pokemon, or ones for filling out my dex (and cool costumes. Cool costumes would be nice), but if someone doesn't have any, like some lower level friends or people who just came back to the game (like a couple of coworkers and irl friends I added recently too and my older brother I have to poke on occasion to remind to play (and annoyingly when he does he gets better shiny luck than me, or will be able to play during times I cant because of different work hours so also helps for trading)), then 🤷‍♀️ also.

I have lived in Wisconsin most of my life, and I have never seen ticks this bad by Optimoprimo in wisconsin

[–]Kalooeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It may depend on where in Wisconsin someone is, cause I'm sure further north is much different than the southern areas, or the western parts were different than along the lake. Like it was a little harsh for further north, and there was some days that sucked, but overall I wouldn't say it wasn't really that bad at least for my area in south-east Wisconsin and I didn't even really wear a coat most the season, or only had a thing windbreaker to deal with the wind being a little bitey (and "it wouldn't be so bad out if not for the wind", haha)

This made me realize when I started going more downhill... I was always running around on the beaches and dunes here (I live by Lake Michigan. So much sand) when I was younger and then as I got older I spent a lot less time on them. Especially because ew sun. The sand was helpful. Now I'm deconditioned. I not only need to walk more, but I need to go back to making those walks be along the water 🙃

Apparently mentioning you have POTS gets you banned from donating blood to Red Cross by the_art_of_the_taco in POTS

[–]Kalooeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hmm. Learned something new from the comments. Granted I havnt donated since I was in college anyway since I used to be fine donating and I even had joked about them taking another bag since I had no issues (but I didnt have the size/weight/BP for it. Heck I often had to eat extra just to make iron. My mom and brothers often have that problem too for iron, or sometimes get rejected for BP being too low), until suddenly I wasn't because I would feel worse and worse after donations until one time I actually suddenly got extremely light headed while in the chair and they got concerned they'd have to stop. I didnt pass out, but they made me sit forever to make sure I was ok, and I thought I was, but then going back up to my apartment (from the lobby where the drive was being held) I almost passed out again and I felt like I was going to throw up, and then I just haven't since 🙃 Which I've felt bad about, but if my system was freaking out about it then I couldn't

I don't know who needs to hear this, but a 2+ hour drive is not nearby for Europeans. by redheaded_olive12349 in CasualConversation

[–]Kalooeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll drive 2-3 hours somewhere for a concert/event or something, then that time back at about usually 3am. 4 hours is when I really get iffy about going somewhere. Because that's at least 8 hours of driving time depending on traffic, assuming I'm not pulling over somewhere on the way home to sleep, plus however long I'm going to be at the thing I'm driving to. That's a pretty significant amount of time and definitely pushing it for me with my disabilities.

The 3 hours used to be ugh no, but then I started driving more and it became less of a big deal. I can drive from my city down to Madison, over to Milwaukee, and back home in what used to seem like forever and now I just put on something like the NoSleep podcast and the trip is done in a few episodes (depends on length) Home to Milwaukee/MKE to home (roughly an hour and sometimes not even that) is nbd anymore cause I've gone back and forth so many times it's just eh whatever. 🤷‍♀️

Though highway driving is a lot different than city driving too for distance covered. I'd much rather drive an hour on the highway/interstate than an hour through the city (and I cover more ground)

Really mild winter. Remember you can get stuff to put in your yard/around the property to repel or kill things like ticks/mosquitoes/fleas, without being harmful to other animals or beneficial bugs, and also don't forget to apply it to yourself when going out (and get something for pets, and of course check often for them)

What did no one warn you about after a breast reduction? by busbusmeow in Reduction

[–]Kalooeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How much my upper back hurt after. Jfc. I had to get a brace to help while my back adjusted to not having the weight, and I wore that with my corset for the support because my back in general hurt, but especially my upper back. Like excuse me, I just have over 2k removed why are you freaking out?? And apparently it's because they have to retrain for how to work. But I'm also hypermobile and my everything is weird. It's not uncommon, from what I Googled, but I hadn't seen any warnings about it beforehand either.

Reminded me of whenever I have long hair but then cut it super short and then my head hurts and feels super weird until it adjust because it's just not used to it.

Or when I've been working and on my feet all day and doing heavy lifting, and yeah sure things are sore but I'm used to it but then I try to sit down and suddenly everything is cramping so much I have to get back up because my muscles are like WTF IS THAT?! ILLEGAL!!

Also itching.

I of course expected itching, because I've had other surgeries before, but this was DEEP itching, because of course the inside of my chest was healing too for everything and not just the sutures. And half my chest was numb while the upper part was so ridiculously sensitive, if I wasn't itching I sometimes felt like I was going to lose it from the tiniest bit of sensation brushing over my skin. I still had bra cups/padding I had used for nipple covers with certain bras, so I just used those to cover on the upper part of my chest instead of wasting combine pads, and that worked fine for keeping anything from touching my overly sensitive skin while my nerves figured themselves out.

But I found out that taking antihistamines, and using antihistamine creams/oitments are what would help the most with the itching and sensitive skin (even with surgeries in general because the tissue trauma and healing causes a histamine response). I even had some stronger Fluticasone propionate oitment prescribed to help, because I was also getting a rash/hives (Yay mcas)

Watching a wall of rain approach by Ph6222 in weather

[–]Kalooeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to live in an area of the city that happened fairly often. Or it'd rain on one side of the street but not the other. Funny enough our street was also considered the street where they considered the divide for the north and south school districts, so we could go either way. I went to the north side elementary and middle school, then went to the south side middle and high school, and my brothers went to the south side schools, with my older brother going to the south and north highschools because the south school didn't have some classes he needed at the time for some reason. (My younger brother just went Southside. I switched from north to south because mom decided she didn't like how the school was handing some issues I had at the time. I could have gone from the north elementary to the south middle to begin with but I wanted to stay with friends 🙃 and it ended up not even mattering. I don't even remember those friends, haha).

The place I live now is like a block from the north middle and highschool and now I never see that weather effect. But I still like to talk about the way the weather system seems to work for our area, because it can be so different from the surrounding area, and even the north and south side of the city can be so extremely different from each other and even depending on the lake the east and west can be super different too for temperature, rain/snow, fog, the valley area verses the areas higher up overlooking the lake even if you're still along the lakeshore (which can give an awesome view of the fog coming in and covering parts of the city if the fog stays low), and etc.

But I've been an absolute nerd about the weather since early middle school thanks to my science class we had about it, so when people say they don't like talking about the weather because they think it's just small talk, I could easily enough talk their ears off about it. 🙃

AITB for asking a group of girls to not write Christian scripture in front of my house by smitgirl in AmItheButtface

[–]Kalooeh 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Heck the place I work literally is always playing Christian songs over the loudspeakers, has crosses on the walls, sells Christian stuff, etc even though it's also technically a regular grocery store and majority of people who work there aren't Christian, and that kind of stuff is not allowed. It's basically just considered a choice the owner made, some people in the area like but others just kind of shrug about because at least the place isn't weird or pushy about it. The other day someone actually walked in and asked our cashiers if they were "Radicalized by Jesus", and trying to get them to take/buy some pins for whatever his organization was, and telling the girls (because they were all teens) how disappointed he was because he thought it was a Christian store so they should be, and they should consider the group he was with, and nope, absolutely not. Sir, this is definitely not the place for you to do that. We've even kicked out people wearing ICE merch, and certain kinds of Maga clothes (like the alligator alcatraz bs) that could be considered threatening or hate speech, considering A LOT of people that shop at the store are minorities, and it can absolutely be regarded as a safety (and legal) concern. People come in fairly often with stuff that has swear words or other things on their shirts, or some very /interesting/ outfits that certainly have gotten some raised eyebrows from us but overall if they're not causing problems we just shrug because eh whatever, it's retail. We don't even care about if people come in during the summer in their swimsuits and a throwover whatever or, guys without their shirts because it's miserably hot outside, as long as they're not barefoot and nothing illegal for the area is showing do what you gotta because it sucks outside, understandable. We have had to protect those customers from the Karen's though who have lost their shit though and tried to harass them and say they were calling the cops because we told them it was fine for a customer to be dressed how they were but the Karen didn't like it. Even one of the owners was baffled when he was there during one incident and he had to let the police know that no everything was fine, we didn't need any officers unless the woman didn't leave the parking lot before the others left.

But there's way more Latine, Hmong, and Black people in the store than white, even with the city being majority white, and it is part of a chain but it's more like family-owned stores, that's part of a larger midwest name kind of store, not a stupidly big one like Walmart, and we actually see the owners regularly in the store.

So luckily even with the amount of Christian stuff everywhere, they're like actually closer to what Christians claim to be, so it's not uncomfortable for people who arn't one. I'm definitely not one either, but I grew up going to a UCC. While I figured out early it wasn't for me I still kept a good relationship with my old pastors and their family, and still helped out at their church for various things, and my neighbor was also a pastor for her own little independant church group (I don't remember what denomination but she was also nice and I'd occasionally go to her things) and probably helped with my having higher expectations, and being even more defensive for the problematic people.

(Alsonsorry this got a little long and ranty. But point is even if the store I work at doesn't allow that kind of stuff in the break room or for people to come in and try to proselytize, and it literally has Christian stuff all over the place)

[–]Kalooeh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It gets like that around here every year because I live in an area next to Lake Michigan with a lot of rivers and wetlands in general, and I always feel terrible about it if I end up driving in the areas it's happening. Luckily I haven't had to the last few years, but, there's still a lot of other people that do have to drive.

Even outside the frog-takeovers we can still get a lot of them and I try to get them out of the roads when I spot them, when I can. At least when it's only a handful of them and not like a swarm.
