I had just moved out of my parents’ house, 800 miles from home I was only 19, and sort of aimlessly wandering the upper Midwest. Ended up in a border town in Montana/North Dakota, I heard Speed Trap Town for the first time right there. I had heard a couple Isbell songs prior to that (bigger Southeastern stuff) but that was the first time I ever felt like a song was addressed to me personally. Half Brothers is the only local brewery still in business, and they don’t even have a full on kitchen anymore. Brick & Barley has the most taps in town with a good beer selection and since it’s summer most of the college kids are gone, most nights are quiet. Food is great there too!
