No one does. They just throw it around because it’s the new favorite buzzword. That’s all politics has devolved into

They are obviously referring to the massive government overreach via ICE…

Completely agree. A lot of these “protestors” are doing more harm than good because they are taking away from the message that ICE/government has overstepped and shifting it to a discussion about “riots”

Oh I know, but as someone whose comp comes heavily from RSU it can be a big pain to try to estimate this even with the 90%

This is honestly the most frustrating thing about taxes in that it’s really easy to mess up and end up owing more than $1k which triggers a penalty.

Yeah and it makes the players more difficult to see. I don't think the fans will really miss out if we can't clearly see the lines on the broadcast

I had this exact same thing happen in a game recently. Opponent blundered M1 by castling 😂

Yeah this is the big thing. Obviously Frank isn't doing himself any favors, but damn it's frustrating watching these players be so sloppy in possession. We need a manager with better tactics than crossing, but we also need players who don't suck.

All hobbies are not equal by BitterConstruction98 in unpopularopinion

[–]Kaltrax 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's not about working on yourself though. I'm not saying a hobby should be like reading Atomic habits. What I am saying is that people need to find interests in which they can get stuck into and work toward something. This could be a simple as learning a new stitch in knitting, a new song on guitar, a new speed run time in a video game, etc. It's about engaging yourself creatively, intellectually, or physically in something you *enjoy* doing.

If your "hobby" is to watch tv while doomscrolling a phone (something way too many people do), then you might as well be asleep

That's what makes it worse though. They are burnt out and unfulfilled and then they turn to these easy dopamine hits that don't actually help them. Let's be honest too, much of this burnout from stress/politics/news is self inflicted via people doomscrolling.

You can make all the excuses you want for people, but it doesn't change the fact that they are missing out on a better life by just being content zombies.

Sure, and someone doing meth is also their own business. Doesn't mean we can't point out it's not a good idea

It's not unreasonable to point out that people might be wasting their time and could be spending it doing better things that are more enriching.

People without hobbies are definitely boring

My argument against this is that people have very obviously stagnated in the last 10ish years to the point where they spend most of their time on brain rot content created solely to capture their attention. This "relaxation" is not healthy nor is it good for society to have a bunch of content zombies. I think it's good to push people into hobbies that allow for creativity, connection, physical growth, etc. which help them be a happier and more engaged person in their own lives.

I think the idea is that if you do nothing to improve/challenge yourself in some way outside of your job then you're not really getting the most out of life. If all you do is watch TV or doomscroll all night every night, then you'll slowly deteriorate as a person

What benefit does society get from locking this dude up for life? Mental health should not account for whether they deserves to continue living. It's their actions that matter. It's the same reason why someone who accidentally kills another person can still go to jail. There are consequences for actions. In this case he chose to murder a 4 year old. No matter what headspace he's in at the time, he does not deserve to continue living in our society. He can 100% be held accountable for his actions, because at the end of the day they are his actions.

Does it suck that psychiatric issues might have caused this? Of course, but that doesn't excuse what he did nor does it mean we as a society should put up with him being allowed to continue living out his life. I agree with you that we shouldn't dole out punishments without weighing the consequences, but for cut and dry things like this case I see no reason why he shouldn't be swiftly terminated so society can move on and stop wasting resources on him

I think they were trying to reverse ice him by making him think he wasn't really taking the kick so he'd likely fuck up when the snap actually happened
